  1. From my perspective, it's a fair amount of work to list these, for so-so profit. Not to mention the auction house interface is just horrid to work with, and I could make more money doing ilum dailies. If I had a mod like say auctionator in wow, where I could list bulk sales quickly, then I'd probably participate. But using that horrid auction house interface to research appropriate prices and list all those suckers one at a time? No thanks. I'd rather stick a fork in my eye.
  2. Sure sounds like a whine to me. Even when they "fix" RE you'll still be a the whim of statistics, and can still have runs of bad luck.
  3. Sounds like pretty bad luck. If you want to mostly assure yourself of getting cyrene silk, buy purple 110 underworld crafting missions from the auction house. But those are pretty spendy. Better to get a few seperate alts with slicing, but that's a lot of work to set up.
  4. Not while leveling, or at least not as good as crafted (since they're usually a few levels behind through mod commendation vendors and purples aren't available). On the sith side, Vette needs skill barrels, so there's usually a good market for those. Don't know about the other barrels.
  5. And sadly enough, people despised it. We get a bit of human creativity in a mmo, and in the end people would rather sit at an auction house waiting to queue a dungeon.
  6. I've found plenty recently from the missions. Just a string of bad luck I'm afraid. Keep at it...
  7. Most people can't see beyond anything combat related, so don't expect much support. Of course these are the same people who whine about not enough content, because they refuse to participate in anything non-combat related, and then wonder why they're burnt out on the game after a year. Step outside your comfort zone, people. It's the only way you grow in life. I, however, agree with the OP, and I do wish that we had more in-depth crafting. That being said, SWTOR's crafting system is the best to come along since SWG, so for that I am happy. But we really do need SWTOR to evolve their player-run economy.
  8. If the GTN stays as is, then yes I can see demand for such a service since the GTN is horrid. I used similar sites in previous games, for example d2.net had an "auction" type system for diablo 2 items. There's definately nothing against it in the user agreement, so no worries there. Now it's just a matter of sizing up the market and determing if it is worth moving forward. But if at some point they make the GTN more useful, you could find your site losing users.
  9. One of the great things about mmos is that they permeate the simple concept of a game. They have mods, and macros, and lots of outside resources that make them huge games with so many options. I won't hold it against you for thinking those kind of things are cheating, but I will fight you to my dying breath. I started playing mmos specifically for the enhanced complexity. I'm not gonna let people like you take any more of that away from me. More on topic, this bug needs to be fixed.
  10. affection is not the same as efficiency. efficiency lowers the time it takes you to complete a mission, but does not affect the results.
  11. I can only imagine the tantrum you'll throw after REing 99 lvl 49 blue pieces and get no purps. 23 REs is NOTHING. If it was that easy everyone would have purple everything, and would completely defeat the entire purpose of REing.
  12. Even without the augments slicing is still worth it just for the crew skill missions.

    Slicing

Slicing goes with all crew skills due to the crew skill mission rewards. All of my alts have a slicer so I can run as many slicing missions as humanly possible.
  14. Well that again brings up the question of valuation of materials. If materials are being valued at average auction house prices, then it might be tough to sell stuff and make a profit. A lot of crafters get their goods through other means, e.g. suppliers, lots of alts, or crafting missions. So competitor costs of crafting might be less and they may be making a profit when others think they are losing money. That may not at all be the case. Just something to think about.
  15. OK, I'm not going to argue RE'ing as I think it's in general working as designed. I'm also aware there are opinions on this that we will just have to agree to disagree on. You clearly at least understand the need to keep items relatively rare, so at least you aren't one of those people who are annoyed because they didn't get a purple in five REs. However, the auction house. Let's really examine the root cause. I know that I am only speaking from my personal experience, but I have plenty of purple recipes. But I don't sell them. The reason has nothing to do with markets or anything like that, but because I absolutely refuse to use this abomination they call an auction house. It's an absolute nightmare to use, especially if you want to do any sort of market research over various markets. Let's also consider that it's well-known that money doesn't do much for you in this game. If people already have all the credits they need from ilum dailies, will they bother wasting their time playing the GTN game? So the question is what is the true root cause of the economic issues? Nothing to spend money on so no incentive to play the market? Or is the market too darn annoying to use? Is it as you say where people are having problems RE'ing? Or is it some other root cause? I just find it hard to see your reasoning as the root cause of economy issues.
  16. Only problem is that pretty soon everyone starts using green goo and you're back to where you started. I'd really prefer resource qualities like we saw in swg, but that method isn't perfect either.
  17. Crystals make up such a small part of artifice that I find your post laughable.
  18. Yeah because when you don't care about a game it's a great idea to host a guild summit... derp
  19. The irony is so thick I can barely breath. You can't be forced to buy something, but everyone else should be forced to raid. Yeah, that makes great sense.
  20. How about we apply some real common sense here. Like how realistic is the bind on pickup mechanic? That completely defies common sense in every conceivable way. So in essence, raiding by virtue of the bind on pickup mechanic defies common sense. Real common sense says that raiders find the patterns and boatloads of gold. They then turn around and sell those patterns to crafters for more boatloads of gold, and then use that gold to buy the best gear. Crafters in turn make goods and make boatloads of gold, and then turn around and buy the best gear. PVP'ers should also make boatloads of gold by pvp'ing, which they then use to turn around and buy their best gear. THAT option provides real choice and makes a heck of a lot more "common sense" than forcing everyone to raid.
  21. Let me rephrase. It is BS that the vast minority of players like you make any difference in the grand scheme of sales. This is not some nebulous feeling. This is based on thousands of wow auction sale results. In the vast majority of cases, people just sort by price and buy the cheapest. These people don't even look at the price difference. They just simply buy the lowest price.
  22. It's called CHOICE. If you want to do raid content, then do it because you WANT to do it, not because you have to. You raiders have been telling us all along that it's not about the gear, it's about the challenge. That's not to say that good schematics and stuff shouldn't be in raids. Of course it should. But in a perfect world, you find a schematic and sell it for boatloads of cash, then buy the items you want. That way you have benefit from raiding without forcing everyone else to do something they don't want to do.
  23. I don't defend shoddy rushed to market products. However, although SWTOR was rushed to market it was not shoddy. Not perfect by any means, but fun and playable, with a great base to build off of. Yes, EA is the devil. Anyone with a brain cell knows this. But it turned out ok in the end, with a lot of room to get better.
  24. Alts. Level 10 and you can learn three crew skills up to 400. Level 14/15 and you get a 2nd companion, fast run, and your ship. Park your alt in your ship and you get quick load times for bouncing back and forth between characters. Gotta warn you though, you'll lose lots of money sending your companion(s) out for scavenging mats. Your better option is to move underworld trading to an alt, and add scavenging to your main.
