  1. Would you like somebody to ask you to stay? Would you like a hug? Would you like other people to leave with you? Would you like to lead a revolt and claim you and your minions will all quit unless something happens? I'm just trying to work out what response you intended for such a fruitless post....
  2. @OP, then don't; your call mate. Keep in mind that you cannot please all the people all the time. You will need to gain flexibility if you want to be everyone at once.
  3. Really, how dare you claim to speak about what YOU think the developers and publisher should do to make your insignificant time matter? You expect to one day log in and see the greatest of all updates/changes in mmo history and that will salvage your meagre $15/month. Get a grip mate. Your post adds exactly fark-all to the topic of this thread and exactly fark-all to the understanding of the underlying issue. A personal request, refrain from posting again until you learn to appreciate what an mmo actually is. Massive. Multiplayer. Online (roleplayinggmae). It is not a shoot-em-up with instant-gratification. It is not a bang-per-minute attempt to capture your fleeting and shallow imagination. You are not a target for the mmo market, clearly from what the content of your post implys. There are issues and there are some great posts in the past few pages which clearly highlight the pro's, con's and in-betweens concering such. Your post does nothing to help anybody make an informed choice, gain a deeper understanding nor offers any practical solutions or insights. Fark, I've forgotten the depth of idiocy which plagues game forums just when I thought this was turning into something intellectual and informative. Cheers, K.
  4. [sarcasm] I think we need more threads on this topic! Surely that will get their attention!! [/sarcasm]
  5. Ahhh, exactly how "social" is PvP really? I mean, you join up, whack the crap outta whoever is against you and 'try' to work as a team. It's not like sitting in the pub talking about it...
  6. OMG! Hi Mr Kracken! I agree, btw. Nice seein you mate!
  7. After reading the title of the thread, I thought I was about to see a detailed description of how 42 works out correctly. I am disappointed. Cheers, K.
  8. I guess perhaps, correct me if I'm wrong, that BW wasn't quite prepared for the volume of pre-sales and knee-jerk reacted by opening a whole bunch of servers. Has this been a case of hype gone wrong? While it worked well for the Blair Witch Project and the Matrix, perhaps SWTOR has realised how it will not work the same as a movie when it becomes interactive and personal. Cheers, K.
  9. As much as I wanted to highlight a bunch of other stuff in your thread, this line gave me the most realisation of what you mean. Sincerely, thanks for enlightening me, I have more to think of and I agree with alot of what you posted. Cheers for at least showing a more detailed version of alot of the whinging I've read so far in this thread. You make valid points mate. Cheers, K.
  10. A game company can never design a game to run on cutting-edge hardware, that would rule out 99% of the general population. With SLI or even multi-core processing (SMP) there are more factors at play than meets the eye. For example, to utilise multi-core processors, the game needs to look at the linear threads and non-linear threads and attempt to maximise processing power. Being that input is constantly changing (keys, locations, activities) there is an infinite number of threads possible to run. This cannot happen on an average punters machine and will cause a bad user experience. To maximise delivery, they need to take this into consideration and offer higher options to those few that can support it while catering to the masses for income purposes. With regards to SLI, we know through benchtesting as well as real-world results that an SLI setup or Crossfire (due to current hardware bottlenecks) will only give a maximum of about 20-30% general performance increase by the very nature of the technology and the restraints of applying such technology to a standard platform let alone looking at the 100% cost increase of achieving such low performance gain per dollar spent. Again, my 3cr worth here... Cheers, K.
  11. OP, you could be right, but you could be wrong. Don't you love computational physics?
  12. 2 things need a definitive answer to help this thread but neither is able to have a "correct" or "incorrect" definition. Firstly, define how the client processes all the information and negotiates your local hardware to handle all the requirements of computing: input, processing and output. Secondly, define how the server processes all of the same based on what the client communicates (input), the server calculates (processing) and what response is sent back (output). In this case, the majority will always overwhelm and be considered the "correct" answer. A bit of theory but it should answer the general question of the OP. Cheers, K.
  13. Wow. Reading and scrolling, even scrolling and then reading, even reading and then scrolling really confuses some people.
  14. I hear you friend, perhaps I am ignorant in parts. How is it BW's fault? I ask for an answer, not to stir the pot. I fully agree that the servers perhaps should have been segmented in order to allow more of an informed choice but I have no idea how that segmentation could have worked better. I was not here at launch deliberately: I wanted to see where the action went so I could make a better decision of where to live. In thinking about it, I guess I blame the player for the choice because there was NO information about why certain servers were better or worse from the outset. It was pure blind luck and a bit of impatience about waiting to join. I waited 2 months to join so I could let others test the waters and then took a leap after some minor searching, a few phone calls and the beckoning of a former guild. I guess I don't understand how other people made their choice and why there is so much bitterness but I just cannot blame BW for it, they never gave me any indication of where to go at all, in any way, shape or form. Cheers for your response mate Cheers, K.
  15. Economies take time to gain structure. This game is 2 months old. All we have atm is inflated market prices or standard automatic prices from vendors with bottomless pockets. It's a "wait and see" approach so far. There may be tricks but the user economy hasn't seemed to take shape fully yet. People are still working out who will buy what and at what price and how much volume. My 2cr worth. Cheers, K.
