  1. I believe Mark Twain once said this. "If you have nothing to say, say nothing."
  2. So my thread was closed, so i'll copy and paste this here. Hello. I wondering if there any PC/IT specialists who understand and know how Game Engines work... and could possibly simplify what happens when a Game Engine is good/bad and how it could possibly lead to the potential problems that SWTOR is facing? I was having a chat with my older cousin, who used to work for Oracle. He has a Masters in Computer Engineering, and deals with programming specifically. Here's what I asked him: I mentioned that is it possible for an online user to lag badly when he meets many players online and animations and graphically taxing actions take place. He says there's alot of possibilities. Such as personal computer specs not powerful enough to handle the game etc. I asked him, but is it possible for the game engine to be badly designed so as to cause this problem? (Mentioning that if the user is running a 10mb connection/top end specs) He answered "definitely". Now, may I suggest a POSSIBILITY that BioWare actually bought the HERO engine for "Cheap" so as to do a "half done" job on redesigning for its own purposes? Also working along with budget, and EA breathing down their necks for a Christmas Release...... Basically, the HERO engine isn't the optimal engine to be used, and they decided to maximise profits and to minimize work on their part (Though i understand they modified the HERO engine for their own purposes)... Discuss?
  3. thanks for replying. your reply was of the utmost help to understanding of Game Engine design. Thank you.

  5. I didn't have the privilege to play SWG when it came out... Seems like lots of people enjoyed it alot more than swtor... Can anyone share their experiences?
  6. i wasn't implying it was swtor's fault really. before launch, i was hyped about the game so much so that i wanted the best gaming experience for it. Mid way, even through the issues of overheating, i tried to make things better by buying a fan cooler to reduce the heat to make the gameplay better... but its really all for naught Please read the post carefully before flaming me
  7. ... only to be disappointed end game? For me, the things I bought : Windows 7 64 Bit (Running a MBP, running swtor on bootcap) : 100 bucks Razer black widow keyboard : 120 bucks Razer naga : 99 bucks Laptop cooler fan (Because hardware heats up too fast): 49 bucks Total damage to wallet : around 350 bucks What about you guys?
  8. If you were to compare the amount of fanfare and hype that the devs were raising, as compared to now (issues that were mentioned in swtor and some issues not even being addressed, e.g the poor customer service), how BLIND are you to NOT notice it? Edit: Also, why the heck do we need a guild summit? Is it a guild summit to discuss about the direction and future of SWTOR? or Issues? or Gameplay combat/engine?
  9. Probably downplaying and looking for a hole to hide...
  10. I just recalled, prior launch, the twitter accounts/videos/forum messages of the Devs of Swtor were constantly updating/informing the community of the launch of the game. Two months later... its kinda quiet. Why? Its almost like "oh man you guys are gonna love swtor so much..." and not its like "ummmmmm, shhh shhh they bought the game already! time to avoid issues/questions!"
  11. I'm done with swtor. I signed up for GW2 Beta, and don't wish to go back to WoW. Currently playing rift, and trying it. (polished gameplay so far) D3 isn't considered a mmo. I remember reading someone commenting that 614 something(forgot the name) is a new mmo that requires players to conqeuor planets for resources and to build armies to pvp... Any info on that? P.S to the fanboys, don't read this post if u want to flame. Off is the direction i wish you to ****. Also, i'm posting here, because i have 24 days left when my sub end.
  12. tell me, what does the board need then?
