  1. Thanks for the info. The IMP guilds really dominate here and the pubs are struggling bad. A decent sized Pub pvp guild would do really well here given all the good IMP competition. I was hopeful that a solid pub guild would pop up but I had a few Pub v Pub matches with some mentioned in this thread and I didn't see the talent. Ugh, Bioware, now have to pay to xfer back to a dead server.
  2. I wouldn't recommend transferring here as a pub. Its most a few solid imp premades that dominate regs/ranked vs some not so focused (being nice here) pubs. In fact, I have to wonder why the east coast pvp guilds on this server even stay imp given how one sided the matches are unless they like imp v imp.
  3. Just did a night of regs. Saw lots of 1k expertise folks and all that. Is there a handy list of solid pub side pvp guilds? Thanks
  4. You would be better off going pub side in order to A. play vs better quality players B. have an opportunity for more frequent pops because of the population imbalance. Unless of course, you like to play hutball over and over.
  5. It's actually a nerf to Vigilance Guardians as they will now have to take a Utility for something they got free - and have to give up something.
  6. I never said 'all' so apparently your reading comprehension is as good as your gameplay.
  7. Sounds like you may need to sip the nectar of reality http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=803825 There is not client side cheat protection in this game. Screen Print lag or just plain old ability lag (engine poo). Free yourself of the Matrix.
  8. That fact that you, or anyone else reading this thread, is looking at my numbers as the point of it is another reason why those who left before you are better and apparently more intelligent. Hint: My OP was to get people to enjoy the game for what it is and stop demanding change as if they were the next Fatal1ty. Hint 2: I don't like Mercs who play on Role Playing Servers who also use WoW as the basis for PVP authority. The first thing a 'good' PVP will tell you is to not start out with any disadvantages. Hint 3: I was acting like a 'founder'? I am bringing the perspective of someone who has played PVP at the highest level in many games. The discussion broadened to what players want more of, which is great. Now go and 'role play' your skill a bit more, get some real perspective, and come back and add to the discussion.
  9. Agreed there. Target based PVP is the way to go. Check out Warhammer 40k. I played Tera for a bit (too much RnG on improving gear). Tab based PVP can't completely showcase skill but movement, clever use of abilities, etc. helps. Quake is the ultimate in twitch based skill, but lacked the complexity. I think somewhere between Quake and Warhammer is a good mix.
  10. Apparently, you are not on a real PVP server but on a Role Playing Server. I'll write it in crayon. In the beginning there were 10,000 good players. When most of those quit, the remaining (say 500 players) flocked to the real PVP servers (Bastian/POT5). Of those 500'ish players, maybe, and this is a big maybe, 20-50 of those log in anymore. This results in my very fair statement, 'most of the good players left' and the absolute fact that what remains is probably a few solid/good players but nothing like the quality (because of the pool size) we had in the beginning. But I have to ask, what other games have you PVP'd in and were considered a great player to a degree that you can state I shouldn't post at all?
  11. 3x faction Swtor in a nutshell. Have Warzones where if enough folks were in the queue you could have say, 5 warzones that were created for 3x faction objective play. Repubs, Imps, and Bounty/Alien types. If the population were low, the 3rd faction could be absorbed into either side and have say, 5 warzones there created for 2x faction objective play. It's sad that most of the population in gaming right now has probably never experienced good oRVR with 100's going to defend a thing, insane battles, etc. and something to fight for. This lobby crap sucks but you think they could at least do it right.
  12. If we could only be so fortunate. With this IP it had/has the potential to have the best pvp. 3x factions where the bounty hunters could be the third faction. Tons of classes and potential. Open RVR if a new engine with insane planet scapes, etc. Warzones that begin in pod races or ships, then turns into objective based pvp (although at this point I think lobby based pvp is a mistake in gaming. Warhammer scenarios contributed points to locking a zone so there was an overall impact). If I were Disney I would offline this sucker in a hearbeat and begin recreating it the right way. Morgan Freeman, etc. narrating some story crap that R.A. Salvatore writes. Heck, even some garbage where you could record your own voice in the beginning and have that be your voice in the story. Anyway, if you enable them and the cartel market they'll never change. The Matrix has you.
  13. I have yet to see on both PVP servers in 3 years the level of players and play that were here the first year. Good players will agree. You will understand this one day when you reach my level of PVP enlightenment. It's like the Matrix where you realize you are in a box that some 20'something year old created the impulse buy and addiction model. The Matrix has you.
  14. You are describing what many are searching for (no games currently have that) - realm pride, pvp for the sake of pvp etc. I'll describe a game for you, -Open RvR where you could roam and find people to kil, duel, small game play, large game play -9x warzones at launch -Warzones for each tier of play (i.e. level 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40 -Collision -Addons (fun stuff to keep track of people you kill and vice versa) -pvp progression -you could level entirely by pvp -diverse classes, each with unique abilities -the ability to lock open rvr zones and progress to the opposite factions fort, then king -had to pick a faction and stick to it, you couldn't have a toon on 'both' sides so you fostered realm pride -you couldn't 'chat;' with the other side so you crap talking was reduced to /bow, /wave -you could inspect gear in the forums and while offline to check out opponents One example and it was a sandbox game where the PVE was an after thought that died because of PVE/PVP hybrid game saturation (RIFT, SWTOR).
  15. Exactly you awesome average Banderal. Get out there and queue!
  16. Read here first… PVP eSports hero's First, you will need to move beyond the notion that this is a serious PVP game. The foremost reason is the player base. When ranked matches where announced and pulled the night before the patch, many good players left the game and haven’t returned. a. PVP ‘good’ population -50%. Next, the removal of 8v8’s in ranked matches, effectively removing certain classes and object oriented PVP. More good players left, with some of the bad ones they carried. b. Remaining ‘good’ PVP population -50% With the addition of arenas, ability changes, nerfs, buffs, other games, you guessed it: c. Remaining ‘good’ PVP population -50% Leaving SWTOR with roughly 100*.5)*.5)*.5 = 12.5% good players remaining from what it had. Now… The dev’s here will never, ever implement the changes that people invest a lot of thought into. Why you ask? More math… Developers average ~55-90k in the United States. The changes to abilities, balancing, UI, animations, etc. would all take tons of development time to code and test. It would cost a good amount of money to solution the changes needed to produce better balance. Not a dollar amount that the Producer can position when his bonuses, etc. are based of the profitability of subscriber base (Cartel market) vs. PVP changes. The other issue is the technology. The engine doesn’t lend itself to ORvR. No cross server possible, etc., bad pings to servers (need a Texas/Chicago server farm to make both coasts happy). TL:DR You aren’t as good as the people that came and left before you, Bioware doesn’t make enough money to listen, and the changes required to satisfy for the average player aren’t worth the effort. So queue up, enjoy it for what it is which is a great story line and intellectual property, and do what I do and hope that a PVP sandbox game comes out with all the features and more and isn’t free to play.
  17. That's insane. Like watching two pigeons fight over a french fry.
  18. It's not that as much as pubs just stink. Look at the guild names... between the two. This is the last time I play the good guys haha. Terrible armor and guild names like 'We do good'.
  19. I just xferred back to Bastian last night after a horrid week back at POT5. If they ever get a decent pub presence back I'll head there again. 90ms it is. Now for the pub side guild search
  20. I can tell you because I just did the xfer over there and back again. On Pot5 the ranked pop here and there but not like when I was on Bastian. I would say the quality of play is fairly equal (I didn't see any standouts over there that blew me away). Bastian was fairly non stop from 9pm-1am but my ping was trash. Before you think about transfering, make a toon and see what your response time is. I was at 90ms which I thought would be playable but it would slide up to 150 during combat alot (fkn sorc spam). I transferred back to have 22ms but I miss the pops already. On Bastian I would say the Pubs at least had a chance with G-Quit , Shade but the Imps were less solid (I didn't see anything to compare to the imps we have here, I AM LEGEND, Seal Team Sith, etc.). The Pubs on POT5 though are fairly average. I don't even recognize any of the guild names and most of the players are average (I haven't seen any ol school good guilds in months - Hoth Ski Patrol, etc.). I would recommend transferring Pubs but not Imps to PoT5. It cost me 3600 coins though for a fun experiment. If you have the ping (50ms or less I would stay there). The game engine is so crappy anything 90+ is like playing in soup and very noticeable. Hope this helps. In game on Pot5 if you have any questions.
  21. I am with you there. When I played Quake we would spend hours in IRC hoping to get to 30ms or so. On Bastian I get 90 and spike to 150ish. It's like playing soup and there are definitely times when I abilities don't fire at all. As far as the guilds I have noticed (just an observation) in rateds from the Pub side I enjoyed playing with G-Quit and Shade. I enjoyed playing against Cherry Pop. I haven't seen Watchmen or MVP or any of those.
  22. I just xferred over but doubt I'll stay. Rated's rarely pop for me (yolo) and the reg skill is worse than Pot5 (which I didn't think was possible). Would like to group with some solid pubs before I go so thanks for the info. I get a consistent 90ms from NY as opposed to 30ms to Pot5. Its playable - but noticeable on some of the maps. Oh, and somebody stole my name on my original character over here (Illuminati) which I didn't think could happen. *Edit - am getting some yolo's tonight.
  23. Anyone have a good resource on how much each stun (by class) fills resolve (and resolves total)? Seems there is some disparity and no standard across classes. Also, wouldn't it make sense that if say, 1400 filled resolve then 2k would automatically cleanse you of all negative affects and begin resolve degradation immediately? This would punish 'over-stunning' (which is basically poor play and communication). Thanks in advance
  24. Congrats Andrew. Glad to see we will be well represented. I have played a Guardian since pre-release as well, primarily in PVP. I would agree with your definition of our class. I would summarize what I would like to see, -more abilities with combo skills on them (i.e. snares after landing the ability automatically built in) -something to reduce AoE dmg in the middle tree while in certain stances -some group utility (maybe a nice heal debuff, -50 percent outgoing in Vig, inc in another tree) I think overall we are in a good spot with various builds though. Some tweaks would be nice. Thanks!
