  1. On launch day I swear load times were lower. Now when I choose a character at selection screen I walk away from the computer and fix a snack, pour a drink, etc. and it's usually still loading when I get back. On other MMOs I noticed characters that had more items in bank and inventory took longer to load.
  2. I'm going to assume you've been making characters Imperial side, which seems to be more populated on every server. I play Republic on one of the servers created later on launch day, and everywhere I go I see one or two dozen people on the zone list. On weekends at prime time some areas might go as high as forty to fifty people but it's a rare occurrence, like seeing an albino black bear. After the rush of launch, zone populations have continually dwindled on most servers, and I'd like to see Bioware cut a few servers like Trion did for Rift.
  3. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=612 This is the guide sticky at the top of this forum. CC usually means Crowd Control, a skill that can render a mob helpless and unable to attack for a time.
  4. In the past few weeks, when I've made characters, from the time I hit the ground until I'm on Tatooine, I've had my LFG tag up and a comment included. How many invites have I received? None. I realize I'm on the lower pop side and on a standard pop server, but to see people run past me into areas where they'd be better off with another player, just blows my mind. I want to group. I want social points. I want to see what my characters can do in group settings, and I'm not getting the chance. I've deleted many heroic +2 and +4 quests from my log, because no one wanted to do them, and that's even with me asking in chat. I'll group for solo quests! When did MMO players become so antisocial?
  5. I applaud your post, for you pointing out that on these forums, I keep seeing repeatedly "This was a last minute change in beta before release". Hey, Bioware. Bait and switch much? All those web sites praising your game just before release and then you change the rules/features. Shame you all to that "red underworld place". I want functional social armors for the sake of variety, I am tired of my character's hooded bath robe.
  6. So much for the New Player help forum. Exactly where would those players ask questions? I could see restricting some areas of the forums in the way you suggest, but others besides endgame people have issues also. Plus, think of all the power leveling and rushing that would take place just so people could post.
  7. I think I read a dev post about why so many playable races are essentially human, it had to do with facial expressions. The devs didn't really want to spend endless hours trying to figure out how a Wookie's face should look for expressing every emotion. They wanted players to identify with their characters and by making most of them human, it made the character modeling and cut scenes easier to finish. TL:DR Humans are easy.
  8. I have a pricey IPS panel, calibrated, and that shade of blue on the darker blue forum background sears my retinas.
  9. If you had read the half dozen or so other threads regarding purple crystals then you'd know there aren't any. That's why so many people are upset with Bioware's/Lucas Arts handling of saber colors. The extractable purple crystals in game are from IMPERIAL raid token vendors. Republic side gets CYAN crystals from the raid token vendor lightsabers. Go to the Republic fleet and find the raid vendors in the supplies area, check the lightsabers and notice under crystal mod section how they say LT BLUE
  10. I was able to remap that key ~ to autorun function. You cannot remap it at all? What is your keyboard model?
  11. It's called the Global Market Kiosk, you can set an option on your map to display the location icon, if you are on your faction's main/home world, it'll be near the class and crew skill trainers.
  12. Also, most companions only love or like around three type of gifts, any other types given to them will reward no increases in affection. A companion's codex will give ideas for gifts.
  13. I am addicted to the blaster noise the Duros Sentry Rifle makes. I found it in a box on Ord Mantell around level five. On the site Torhead it is listed as just Sentry Rifle. Might anyone know if there are any orange mod-able weapons available for commendations that make the same noise when fired? I was sad when my republic trooper had to cease using it recently for a better weapon. Thanks in advance if anyone has information.
  14. From what is known right now, they exist only in Imperial endgame weapons. No one has found any from operations(raids). In early beta they were available to artifice but were removed shortly before release.
  15. I agree they could have been worded in a different way, but Bioware simply chose to present it as they did. Honestly, I don't know what algorithm they use for a companion being more efficient, or how to equate it to another scale. Despite Qyzen Fess having a +15 archeology efficiency bonus, I don't send him on those as he seems to fail those more often than my other companions.
  16. The types of bonuses I have seen to companions are efficiency and critical. If your companion has a bonus to efficiency it means they take less time to perform missions or craft items of that type. If they have a bonus to critical, they have a chance to gather more items from missions and make items a tad bit better while crafting.
  17. Here is a screen I took a few days ago on Nar Shadda. My character is looking toward the tower emitting the green light. I get a much more exaggerated effect on Tatooine near the speeder vendor, I will see walls of green light all the way around Anchorhead. I was using gpuz and my temperatures for video were not extreme. http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/9193/screenshot2012010817195.jpg
  18. If you are referring to the text color of the name of the mission, it would indicate difficulty of completion, thus your chances of success. The missions follow the same order as mob colors, Orange = Difficult Yellow = Average Green = Easy Gray = No skill gains for completion You will get the most skill gains in a crew profession from orange missions if they are completed successfully. There are also different yields for missions also, the order goes Moderate < Abundant < Bountiful < Rich < Mission Token(quests that are one use) Moderate usually provides small returns, and the rest provide a little more as you go up the order.
  19. I think a one time chance or quest to switch advance class isn't asking too much. By the time someone reaches say, level thirty, they have a good grasp at how the class plays and the style might not be to their liking. They might have also poured insane amount of money into level crew skills and spent time gaining affection with companions, or social/pvp points, that they do not want to lose by re-rolling. In EQ2 they added a quest to revert a character back to a prior level of selection. In that game at launch, if one picked a fighter, then went warrior, at that point there were two options available, guardian and berserker. Both could tank but one was strictly sword and board, and one could deal damage using two handed weapons. The quest I spoke of allowed players to revert back to the point of warrior, and then choose again between guardian and berserker, it didn't allow people to go all the way back to fighter and then pick brawler(which went on to be monk/bruiser). Seeing as how classes share a number of skills, for example, jedi shadow and sage have many common skills, is it such a travesty to allow people to switch from one to another, given the reasons above for not wanting to abandon a character?
  20. Disappointed that I cannot create purple or cyan to use while leveling, even if they had more pvp oriented stats I'd still use them just for looks. Not sure why there has to be any super rare colors available to raiding/pvp, as eventually everyone in those raids or pvp zones will be all the same color due to min/maxing. I'd rather see a rainbow of colors that are easily crafted that can be reverse engineered to compete with drops as opposed to being locked to one color because it has the best stats. This game is heavily focused on the leveling experience. Bioware spent endless hours messing with voice acting, which will all be skipped after a while because people will not enjoy the leveling experience if they cannot customize their characters via things like saber colors, and will seek to be power leveled to get to the point where they can get that saber/blaster color they wanted from the start, or they might decide the game isn't for them.
  21. I agree with a post in another thread about slicing that the other gathering and mission skills should have been adjusted to give greater yields so that slicing wouldn't have been singled out. Slicing was meant for people who despise crafting, and with the terrible yields I've been getting with bountiful and rich archeology and treasure hunting missions I am starting to despise crafting as well.
  22. Early in this thread someone mentioned an orange techblade at the Coruscant commendation vendor aboard the Republic fleet. That weapon does not exist as of now, I do not know if it was there during beta but after release there are only vibrostaffs and vibroblades, which Qyzen cannot use. Bioware needs to change his weapon usage abilities to use something players can mod. If he is to be a legendary hunter he will need a wider range of weapon mastery. The green quality weapons available do less damage than higher grade modable weapons that most other companions can use. Poor of them to play around and change his armor/weapon usage and stat focus just before release.
  23. +1 support of this idea. There are many crew skills, most have little to do with each other, and this part of the forum seems to be very messy.
  24. About the arch nodes seeming to be bugged. I saw a conversation in general chat about nodes that appear on the map yet cannot be interacted with. Someone stated that in beta they noticed that if someone used a node but left the materials inside it, it would remain in the game world but not be useable by others. Just like mobs you kill that are lootable only by you, they remain in the game for a good while, other people can see them but obviously cannot loot them. Harvest nodes in that situation though do not seem to despawn. About player crafting, they were designed by Bioware to be "crew skills". I know standing around twiddling thumbs while the crew crafts items or goes on missions can be boring. During that time I try to harvest or kill mobs that I can handle.
