  1. What level characters are you referring to? While leveling crystal refreshes come every eight levels starting with level seven, the earliest levels crystals can be made for. Some world bosses drop colors not normally available, such as orange. The highest level crystals in the game right now provide +41 increases to critical rate, power, endurance, or resilience for pvp varieties. Artifice can buy schematics for blue, green, red, yellow, and at max levels orange, that increase endurance or critical, power schematics come from investigation. Magenta schematics can be found though they are very rare. Some database sites have crystal lists but they are filled with crystals that were removed during beta(like this one below). The Darth hater list contains colors no longer in the game such as white, and purple/magenta are not available from the crew skill trainer. Torhead also has a database similar to that one but contains just as many errors. http://db.darthhater.com/search.aspx?search_text=crystal#items:0+3+1
  2. JerDragon is right, that event on Tatooine was for a limited time only, about one week, months ago. If it makes you feel better I didn't get the pet for completing that quest as I never found three pieces of the Stardream before it ended. I wanted to find them all without using a spoiler site, but alas, did not. So next event I'm running over to darthhater(or similar site) immediately so I don't lose out.
  3. Just after launch I did Esseles and got the medium armor robe. The first thing I didn't like about it was not being able to set the hood down, after many minutes of fiddling with options. Then I turned the camera to the normal position(character's backside), my reaction to that was NOOO! I have end table *****. As it was my first character, I didn't have any crew skills to make different armor(nor did I know options even existed) so I was stuck with that robe for a long time, wasting planet commendations on armor mods, and making enhancements with artifice. I gathered enough coms on Tatooine(along with more game knowledge) to buy the moddable Smuggler armor, which got rid of the hood, but the big behind was still there. I gave that armor to Doc eventually. Now I have a character progressing in Armormech, and I grab as many orange medium armor schematics as possible. I had set my Sentinel to the side while leveling Sage so now I have my Sage as Cybertech to make mods for my Armormech armors. Currently my Sentinel is wearing the Gunslinger Jacket and Drelliad slacks(the pockets on the bum are so smexy) and the white boots from Light Side vendor, using the color matching feature it all looks very good. Unfortunately my Consular still has to suffer as light armor is all about robes, though I did find one while leveling with a cape that covered the rear end. Dulfy made a good list of orange armors that I go by for making purchases off the GTN. Here is her list: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=466842
  4. After I finished Taris for the first time, I felt I NEVER wanted to hear "Rakghoul" again. For some reason I've grown to like Taris. The world that just about does me in? Balmorra on rep side. It was WAY too long, and the planet after seemed too short(Quesh). I understand the importance of Balmorra but it seemed to have infinite side quest lines, and in my opinion too many levels are spent there. I'd rather do space missions endlessly as opposed to four or five levels on Balmorra. Edit: Forgot favorite. I love Tython. It's a beautiful planet with a long history, and you get to kick the butts of
  5. Fleet <=> Ship, for me it's the quickest way to refresh the mission list. I wish UWT had lock box missions where I might get schematics or useable items, instead of dozens of useless companion missions. Any time I'd take gift missions I'd end up with gifts none of my companions wanted. I wish they'd rework some companions who only "like" a couple categories of gifts to actually "love" something most of the companions are currently "indifferent" to. Or just do away with "indifferent" and change the system to Love>Favorite>Like so people aren't tempted to discard so many types of gifts. That wouldn't help players with max affection with all companions who want to exclude gift missions.
  6. Agreed, going F2P means you expect enough players to stick around to be able to generate income from item shops. Heck it takes a lot of time and money for companies to set up a game to go F2P. I'm going with the announcement being about another Star Wars game entirely.
  7. For a second I thought you were playing System Shock 2.
  8. LOL.........where did you get that idea from? Lucas Arts shut down SWG because they would only allow one MMO to carry their precious brand name at any given time. That means, that if Lucas Arts decides to bank on a MMO with another developer that looks more promising than SWTOR, that SWTOR would be shut down as soon as the new game was ready. SWG bled subs because of the foolish and arrogant decisions made by SOE. "You don't REALLY want in-depth game play, you want our NEW GAME ENHANCEMENTS!" Foolish and arrogant decisions are also being made by BW, including ripping out content that was in beta, that enticed players to buy the game and then find out it was removed the hard way. Just ask Square Enix what happens to an MMO when the producers are given a god complex and compete power over the project instead of listening to alpha/beta testers and players before launch. Add in a completely incompetent publisher in EA and you have a recipe for disaster. To those who are comparing the launch of WoW to SWTOR: What competition did WoW have back then? Barely any if you knew the playing field of MMOs at that time. Blizzard had the time and fan base from previous RTS games to make some mistakes and recover from them. In the here and now, the MMO market is crowded, to draw people away from other games and get them to stay means you have to offer them all the comforts of their other MMO home. If they aren't happy, there are alternative games to play now, unlike years ago. I agree with the OP that the Massively part of this game is missing. Instances everywhere, four person groups, narrow corridors called "planets", the list goes on and on. Plus, when there is a large gathering of people the lag is unbearable. I've played EQ2, LOTRO, WoW, Rift, FF14, and GW, some of those for many years in a row. Never has any MMO felt more restrictive and linear than SWTOR. It should have been single player KOTOR 3.
  9. Wampa - Consular Dewback - Commando Mynock - Gunslinger Bantha - Dancer (yay SWG)
  10. Somewhere I read that +power crystal schems come from Investigation. I've been running a lot of treasure hunting missions and haven't come across one, so it's very possible they drop from crits on other mission skills. Why it would work like that when TH is so integral to Artifice I have no idea.
  11. Stop! Don't spend tons of money and time trying to refresh your mission list, you can do that just by zoning. If you are aboard fleet, take a free shuttle down to Korriban/Hutta or Tython/Ord Mantell and the mission list should update. Or you can relog the character if not aboard fleet and the mission list should update.
  12. I have this bad feeling in the pit of my stomach, like some sort of bait and switch is going on each time a round of subs is about to expire. 1.2 came out just before many three month subs were due. I'm one of those people who has been squeezing all the sources I can on the net for info, yet finding very little. Theories that evaporate and rumors that prove untrue are no substitute for hard fact given by Bioware, and yet they give us nothing. At least make a post telling us something, whether the RE process wasn't ready for the patch, or was never intended, or only works on specific items(and list them). Don't leave the community in the dark Bioware, that just leads to bad feelings among the players, who voice those bad feelings by word of mouth and via the Internet.
  13. Give him cultural artifacts, as pointed out in another thread he gets the biggest affection boost from those artifacts. To the poster who referred to Kira as him, I know Kira isn't the most attractive woman ever but, damn.
  14. I thought I read in another thread where someone acquired a crystal schematic from investigation. Perhaps they were incorrect? Like many I was hoping to have more color crystal choices available while leveling, and I mean new schematics for different colors each interval Artifice can craft them(usually eight levels apart) starting at level seven. Since a large focus of the game is on Legacy and thus playing alts, having more ways to customize will add more interest to leveling those characters. I do hope someday orange/purple/cyan/magenta will be available for early levels, and by early I don't mean mid 30s.
  15. Thanks for the tip. I just assumed that being a droid he would love technology gifts similar to T7, so I threw those at him. Glad to know another type will allow faster affection gains.
  16. Even a blind, deaf, comatose lobotomy patient could feel my ANGER!!! That video rules. Oh ya, FARCON PAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWNCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111
  17. Everquest 2 allowed such changing. When the game launched the class trees allowed a general archetype on the starting isle, then at level eight a class was chosen, then at level 17 a subclass was chosen. Example: Someone chose Mage at the starting island. They would then have a choice of Sorcerer/Enchanter/Summoner at level 8. Say a person picked Sorcerer, at level 17 they would undertake a quest allowing them to pick between Wizard(fire/ice spells) or Warlock(disease/poison). SOE added the ability to do quests to move back to subclass selection, in this case switch from wizard to warlock, or vice versa. It was a time consuming process, and you lost all spells and any spell upgrades gained under the other subclass all the way back to sorcerer. It was not by any means a cheap or easy process. Perhaps level 10 is too early in SWTOR to make players decide on an advanced path. Perhaps players should get more experience with both AC choices and have them choose closer to level 20.
  18. C3PO: "But sir, no one worries about upsetting a droid." Solo: "That's because a droid doesn't pull people's arms out of their sockets when they lose, Wookies are known to do that."
  19. The sad part about that game was it had so much potential, the graphics and music were amazing, the class system was awesome. Play all combat and crafting classes on the same character by switching weapons/tools? YES. The problem was Tanaka, and then Yoshi, never listened to beta testers or customers. They went off on their tangents thinking players would worship the ground they walked on. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Then they decide to change all the mechanics in the game within a short time leaving players dazed and confused while announcing sub charges in the middle of the mess. Yet I can see the same arrogance present in the suits overseeing SWTOR. Classic case of those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it's mistakes.
  20. Yet as many have mentioned the problem with Republic isn't all based in class skills that are lacking or bugged, it has much to do with the feel of the classes due to the story, lame dialogue, and unclear/predictable conversation choices. It seems much more thought went into the Imperial story design, it's as if the devs knew everyone was going Empire and cut corners on the other faction's development time. With so much money invested in voice acting, it's difficult(maybe impossible) for the devs to redo a class storyline.
  21. Exactly. If the fight between Obi Wan and General Grievous had taken place in SWTOR, Obi Wan would have spared Grievous and they would have become best buddies. Why? Because actually killing anyone despite how evil and destructive they are is just EVIL, and such Jedi will be cast out of the order and damned to hell or burned at the stake as a witch. When I play Jedi I remember the Spaceballs fight between Lone Starr and Dark Helmet, "Evil will always win because good is dumb." Jedi in SWTOR aren't practical or wise, they are borderline hippie pacifists. ETA: My Jedi should have had a /frustrated emote that had my character stomp their foot while playing a sound file some might remember, "Buttons and Barn doors!"
  22. You might want to dig up some of the crew skills posts on this topic, they explain in detail, but, what the heck I'll say some of it here. Purple is only found on Imp level 50 pvp and operations weapons. The OP weapons have removable gems while the pvp ones do not. Note purple at the present time is available only on Imp side, Reps get cyan color instead. Artifice crystal colors were change in late beta, you can look at some of the database sites and see old recipes for different colors that were removed.
  23. I felt the same way playing as a consular, the NPCs made me feel guilty about destroying or killing anything, even enemy droids. I chose jedi shadow because I thought I was supposed to be a covert ops who removed threats to the people of the republic. Instead I felt like a young child who was scolded anytime I actually made decisions that followed my class description. At least with Jedi Knight it felt more action oriented, with a side order of guilt, but the DS/LS options do seem questionable. I didn't realize the ultimate goal of every Jedi was to become a pacifist.
  24. Absolutely. On day one I scoured the preferences menu up and down endlessly looking for a way to adjust the camera so I could look around me while moving, that wouldn't end up with the camera constantly returning to center. I've been playing games for a long time and I can't remember one that had such abysmal preferences. All I have to say about the camera options in this game are dubya tee eff Regarding Bioware's opinion of our intelligence concerning texture options, I say to them, go back to design school, and learn some respect for customers.
  25. I concur, having a way for players to complete a PVP objective by PVE(not even PVE really as there are no mobs) methods is ridiculous. Remove the boxes and force players to do what the zone is meant for, and if they cannot find anyone of the opposite faction to battle with, then they don't get rewarded with higher tier equipment. I love how developers of MMOs attempt to make players forget problems called out at release by adding more content. "They'll forget all about the tons of stuff that doesn't work if we give them more to do!" Devs: That doesn't work, years from now when people think back to this game they will say "Oh ya I remember that game with the PvP/ability delay/etc. etc. that didn't get fixed, yet they marched on creating new zones." LucasArts: Are you reviewing ANY decisions made by Bioware or did you just slap your logo on the game to make money off the intellectual property? Disappointed in Lucas, thought he cared more about the story he created, perhaps enough to review how it is represented. TL;DR This should have been a single player game with ability to group like NWN.
