  1. Wow, did this post get hijacked or what!? Glad you could have your reunion amidst my depressed post though. To So'low: I am glad you are having a good time man, but it sounds like you are getting a lot more competition than we have been getting (even with 30min pops). I think the only times we have intersected is when we start rather early and you stay quite late. But certainly GG's. I think the solution is for either one of our teams to begin gaming in the morning. And you've probably got Buckley's of that happening with the night owls in our team >.<. The post really was directed solely at the pvpers online during the hours of 9pm to 2am Australian eastern standard time. It is an odd hour for the server indeed, but there are still an abundance of pvpers on during these hours, sadly qing groups in regulars WZ's. Since there are obviously concerns about facing <condemned>, we have sadly decided to stop qing on a nightly basis so that everyone feels safe to go and practice. However, comments suggesting that this guild "pooled together the best players during the Australian evening" are ridiculous (albeit flattering). The players in the guild have been together since almost the start of the game (some even before), and I have been with them for well over half a year (a quarter of the games age mind you). And as far as each of us being the backbones of other teams goes, you probably don't want us rage monsters leading you into arenas. F*** ups are met with retribution. So, feel free to stop r aping the poor scrubby entry level pvpers in normal warzones (of which I have noticed an increasing amount of new ones) and queue up for some ranked games. Practice some team compositions, practice your communication. We might just pop in every so often to test how things are going. TL/DR: Come out and play, the scary monster is gone.
  2. This message is solely for pvpers who play during the Australian evening: So arenas have been out for almost one week and already group ranked is a ghost town. There are an abundance of pvp guilds who play during these hours and so far only <SnX> has been qing, and even then only certain players participate. Why? The barrier to entry for ranked has been obliterated now that 8v8 is gone. PVP guilds tend to queue 4 man teams anyway, yet they still will not hover and click on the right side of the pvp group queue. Why? Is it a distaste for the arena format? (I can't imagine that this has developed in less than a week, surely) Is it the sense of comfort gathered from rolling against rando pugs? Or is it fear of being beaten? To this last question I will make 1 point. Many of these guilds have MULTIPLE players on at any given time, and therefore can form multiple teams at once. This has two benefits: 1) you will get to practice both playing together and group compositions that work (and have fun). 2) having so many teams available actually reduces your chance of coming up against teams that you might not want to go up against. I hope to **** that I am not just talking into the wind here and that this post *********** provides you with some conviction to actually push yourselves competitively. Instead of *********** wrecking the kiddie pool every night. I write this on behalf of our guild, but have been informed that this represents the opinion of some of the American guilds such as <Goof troop>, who have been largely forced to fight each other most days. I will leave you with one question. What will it take for you to queue ranked groups?- pay attention here Bioware, cause I have a sense this is is not endemic to The Harbinger.

  4. BUMP. Can we get a dev response to this? Why can we only display 4 buffs on the operations frames? And why are they defaulted to the most non important buffs?
  5. Farking yeah! Me too man. And yes with ground target AOE, just hit your keybind then switch to mouse. It is not like I play on a couch or anything so this is very close at hand.
  6. Wow. You are not bull********? If not, it is good to see I am in good company Kewa.
  7. Hey MLP, I have about 36 abilities all keybound (depending on toon) as well as a few methods of tab targetting (next enemy, enemy in front of me, target of target, friendlies). The trick is just using the triggers and shoulder buttons as modifiers that change what the face buttons activate. I find it is a very effective way of being able to cast and move. Also, there is no issue of keyboard turning since the right thumbstick is actually just is moving the mouse while holding right click. To my clicker buddy above, I am afraid I must disagree in our potential effectiveness simply based on speed of activation. Whilst only being a clicker for approximately 1 day in my MMO career, I can say that the need to move the mouse to activate abilities is just that bit slower. I think this is in part due to the lack of tactile feedback you get with a mouse position. The mouse is constantly changing its position which means that one must constantly reassess mouse positioning when choosing a new ability. Sure, these differences may be small but they do add up. Moreover, considering the amount of abilities off the GCD I have to imagine that this does not help. I'll cite carnage marauders as an example, who have to attack abilities off the GCD. Being able to pop that gore simultaneously with force scream and retaliate just can give a nasty burst spike that is unachievable with clicks (since you can't click three things at once). The same applies for activating defensives as well, being able to activate a defensive whilst still attacking is highly effective. Sorry to go a bit OT there btw, did not mean to begin a war on clicking vs keybinding (that is on the pvp forums atm).
  8. http://www.pixelhunt.com.au/home/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Xbox-Controller-PC.jpg ^ Arguably the weirdest mode of playing SWTOR there is I know, but I feel I have earned my chops in PVP thusfar so I am not too concerned about the potential barrage of insults coming my way. However, if anyone is interested in playing this way too feel free to ask me how. Begin! -Lindooni, Lindothar, Lincat, Nileena...
  9. :BUMP: Ran balanced last night, pugged a few got some more enthusiasm. /Cjoin Harbingerranked and start forming teams Not quitting this idea just yet
  10. Why not allow Full-Auto to also be used to heal allies as well as damage enemies ALA hammer shot. I feel it fits in nicely into the roll of the commando healer as a damage dealer and healer. It would also provide a nice channelled heal for a class where instant heals are lacking. Incidentally, it already fit nicely into "supercharged cell" talent, whereby it is a free cast when this buff is up.
  11. You are implying that these guys are credit farmers and presumably sellers based on their proclivity towards getting credits and their inability to speak English well. That is pretty racist mate. Moreover, I think that SWTOR does not at all have much of a credit selling problem. I rarely get mail anymore offering credits for cash, and I almost never see anyone advertising in general. I can only surmise that the players of the game have simply been quick to report these people and have them banned, also perhaps a lack of interest from the community in buying credits.
  12. I believe server is down tonight...
  13. Cheers for the enthusiasm guys. I have gone ahead and made a channel called "Harbingerranked". Please type /cjoin to this channel on your toons that you want to do ranked pvp with. I already collected quite a few people just after making it. I would ask that the experienced Ranked pvpers please try to be team captains and regularly check the interest of people at any given time for ranked by asking the channel to type 1 followed by their role(s). Then sort the teams accordingly. Please ensure that everyone has mumble, and if the team captains would invite everyone to their mumble channel, that would be great. I sense good things to come of this.
  14. A chat channel might be a nice idea. I'll look into starting one. Insofar as who to contact goes, the idea would be for people wanting balanced to just type the name of the guilds who are complaint into the "who" window and see have them ask a player what is going on. However if you want specific names, I am willing to offer help during the Aussie hours for GI: All toon names begin with Lin. For Synthesis: Just whisper any character with the hauk in the title. All other GM's could you throw out the names of your toons and or officers toons on here?
  15. Cheers for the quick response Geld, Like I said, GI and synthesis try to run every weeknight (Australian) and we all run on the weekends generally across both time periods (though with varying numbers of people online), but there is certainly always enough people to field a couple of teams. We just need the will to do it. What you could do is state the time when the majority of your guild plays so that people will know when to look for you. For clarification Synth and GI run balanced from roughly 7pm-1am AEST (2am-8am PDT). With plans for some of GI's members to continue on after this period.
  16. Hey All, I am writing this to try to drum up some interest in sustaining ranked PVP on this server. Presently, Ghost Infantry and Synthesis have been running cross-guild balanced ranked teams between each other on most weeknights, Australian time and it has been universally enjoyed (hence the wish to continue it). As I said in an earlier post, I believe ranked died on this server in the past because there was too much of a barrier to entry for a normal pvper to both get on a good team and then learn to play the "ranked game". Consequently, we just had the best of the best playing each other exclusively, which no doubt was great for them in terms of competition, but left little room for the ranked-curious players. Since the departure of these high level pvp guilds to transfers, we have an opportunity now to fill the ranked void with more players. My hope is however, that this time it will be far more accessible to all pvp'ers. I think the way this needs to be done is by putting together balanced teams whenever possible to run against each other. This process is not as difficult as it seems. Most of us regular pvp'ers are familiar with the quality of the players who play at the same time as us, and therefore it should be easy to pair them up with other players. And if your initial team set-up is imbalanced, you simply swap players for the next game. So, this is a shout out to all PVP guilds to help make this happen. I know you are all dissatisfied with the regularity of ranked on the server, here is our chance to fix it. I propose that we PVP guilds try to keep running these balanced games across all ours of the server. Ghost Infantry and Synthesis will always been keen to sort something out during the Australian evening, but we are going to need our US counterparts to pull their weight during the US evening. Goof Troop, Top Gun, Wrath of Xedrix etc, I know your numbers aren't large enough to field your own teams all the time (not even GI's or Synthesis's are), but you can help to coordinate the other regular PVPers, mix up some teams and get them enthusiastic about ranked. To the guildless puggers or pvp puggers in PVE guilds who want to join, this is a two-way street. If you want to come along to take part in balanced ranked you are going to need a couple of things: 1. A microphone and mumble (or other VoiP client as required)- You need to be able to communicate during ranked, even if you say very little like "snow 2", "east door" etc. it is critical. 2. A willingness to learn how to play in a team. There are no heroes in ranked, just good teams. You need to learn how to focus fire and coordinate abilities with your team mates. 3. A good attitude. The leaders of these balanced RWZs will always try to keep them balanced, so do not simply rage quit because you did not win a game. And that is it. Again, I hope we can get this off the ground ASAP because ranked games truly are more fun and tense and more skilled than regulars, and I want everyone to see this. All the Best -Lin <Ghost Infantry> P.S to the PVP guilds, please post below to express you interest. Hopefully we can use this thread to help sort this out a bit more completely. P.P.S For players who want to join in balanced, you can post below to express interest, but you would be far better served in searching in-game for the Guilds that sign up below and Ghost infantry and Synthesis and asking the guild leaders directly or asking in the pvp channel on fleet P.P.P.S I did not mean to imply at all the the former PVP guilds destroyed ranked, they simply kept honing their skills while everyone else did regs (me included). As a result they got to sharp for most.
  17. Gross, but you are welcome.... And Q, don't sell yourself short man, from what I have seen you are an excellent dpser and healer. Plus jumping in mumble always helps the cause for getting picked up in our groups (it also allows you to record our Billy). All the best -Lin Ghost Infantry

  20. Welcome back Miss Shin, I think you are in for a treat with the new "Waka-jin". I have been running it almost since launch of 2.0 for pvp and the damage is incredible. There is excellent burst from stealth, but also very good sustained damage for those longer fights. Here is a picture of my numbers from a particularly long ancient hypergate that gave me very little opportunity to return to stealth (and reset force potency): http://s1285.photobucket.com/user/wannabePhD/media/Screenshot_2013-05-12_22_44_58_209582_zpsd6421b35.jpg.html That 5 man force in balance bomb has fantastic utility for stopping caps, but also for finishing off healers and other ranged classes who run out of the 30 yard range. 2 good points to add here, the bomb that you throw is generally unpredictable (since they wont expect an infil shadow to have picked it up) and if you manage your force potency correctly, you can save that final stack of potency for when you cast this bomb on them. That is to say, force breach for the first (7-8k) project (5-6k), they run for it, Fib (4-5k) sprint after execute. I think everyone has a point for ranked however, because the game has a terrible tendency to hold you in combat after you have disengaged this severely limits your burst chance. And since burst damage is absolutely essential for any ranked game now (due to efficacy of tanks and healers), our function is sadly lacking as dps. We are however, the best node guarding tanks and PUG tanks (due to good damage and stealth utility, not necessarily damage mitigation talents). I think to make us more viable is longer battles, we need some in-combat way of resetting our force potency- this might make us a bit OP but it would be nice. As for survivability, all I can say is that if you really want, you needn't ever die as a shadow. That phase walk can teleport you to any sneaky place u deem fit to heal up. Granted, this will not help your team as much if you are a node guard say, but it will certainly help your teams total score if u never die during an ancient hypergate. As for in-battle toughness, I find it pretty darn good. We have plenty of good defensive abilites- constant 8% damage reduction with wakajin is very nice (with kinetic field up) which jumps to 32% with shadows respite add the natural 30% reduction to aoe smash and you will be laughing at smashers who would hit for 8k go down to about 3.5k. Plenty of force speed on quick CD really helps breaking LOS with ranged targets, as well as allowing constant zipping across the battlefield for a quick execute. I am struggling a bit with BiS though Shin, truth be told you are normally my go-to guide on these things. I have tried to maintain our previous shadow standards (23-24% crit, 75% surge, 5% accuracy, rest in power) but the DR on crit is a mo-fo. I think I have about 500 crit now (what you are given with the basic partisan/conqueror setup) but I just feel that it is a huge waste, sure my mainhand dmg is over 1600- but I feel this could easily get to 1700 if I swapped a bunch of that crit for more power. The FiB, project and breach would still crit consistently (with potency up) but I would have to be praying for shadow strikes as if I were trying to reverse engineer some purple enhancement. Granted when those SS's hit, my target would disappear (in a good way) but it is a tough call to make. Also shin, you have probably noticed, but all the stock standard dps mods ontthe partisan/conq are loaded with endurance rather than power- so we can have fun swapping these out. Again welcome back, I look forward to seeing some of your videos one day. And perhaps when cross server queues come along, fight some WZ's with you (it will be glorious). All the best -Lindooni Ghost Infantry The Harbinger
  21. This may be a stupid question, but has anyone simply done a calculation of what their biggest potential hit could be? I mean the mathematics is not that difficult. You could even include all the potential factors that would make your hit harder. Ie add 15% dmage boost from WZ pot, calculate the armour loss on a given class with all the debuffs applied, add inspiration/frenzy and voila. Just a thought
  22. Here here, well said. From a very good vanguard no less (even with the nerf).
  23. So this problem has been around for a long time and will be familiar to anyone who makes premade groups for pvp. For the solo puggers out there who may not know: what happens is that sometimes a player in the group can be "bugged" which means that group will never get a queue pop. Anyway, I was curious as to how regular PVPers deal with this. When do you decide that a relog and re-queue is necessary? Are there any signs you look for to tell if you are bugged from the outset of queueing? How do you deal out shame on the person you find out was bugged? (This can be discovered by dropping the group one by one and seeing if the queue pops in the absence of a certain player). Please tell me that me and my guild aren't the only ones who deal with this and that you have known about a simple way to tell since this bug started appearing. Please note, I know about the "flashing not flashing" warzone icon which certainly does tell you that you are bugged, but there is another bug that you can't see- this is the one I am talking about. Stay safe kids -Lin Ghost Infantry
