It would simply force the developpers to build encounters around player awareness and skill rather than managing their yellow bar.
But seing as Bioware is relatively new at MMOs, its probably better like this, for now.

The reason top are light on choices is because in this game, speccing hybrid is actually a viable option half the time...

Vanguards.
They also trump Powertechs simply because their healer (Dorne) wears Plate while Mako wears squishy leather.
As for starting out with mako, You get her around lvl 9ish while the Trooper if he rushes his class quests can get Dorne around 14-15ish.
While they are both better at being a one man army than everyone else (they also both have the highest damage output of the 3 tanks), the Trooper has the advantage as all his companions wear heavy armor, making them all possible off-tanks in rough situations.
Don't bother with stealthers. I leveled both an Operative+Tank companion and Shadow+Healing companion and I can tell you, you don't need stealth when the Vanguard can just Plow trough the heroic mobs. Sure you need to reset some encounters and play your cards right (even sometimes death-sneak past some), but in the end, the Vanguard+healer combo is the toughest son of a ****** in swtor.
Don't bother with Sorc/Sage+Tank companion either. Healers+tank companion are ridiculously frustrating to solo challenging encounters with in the current state of the game.
All you'll really do is be the healbot while your companion tank hardly keeps aggro on anything or if he does, dies from squishiness (even with high end gear and mods).
So yeah. your best bet for extreme soloing is as follows :
1. Vanguard
2. Powertech
3. Shadow (if you go Assassin, you won't get your healer until mid 30s, so stick to Republic, you can rush your healer at lvl 17ish)
Also, Biochem.

BHs aren't the worst healer, they're 2nd behind sorcs.
And yes, Sorcs are better healers in every aspects than both BHs and Operatives.
Once they get their reusable medpacks and Consume procs, they don't run out of Force, can bubble AND have great AoE/Single target heals.
As far as efficiency goes, Healing Sorcs being numero 1 is a fact.
But let me ask you this, does it really matter? If at the end of your run the group's alive, that's all that really matters.

Scoundrels have more burst, shadows have more sustained damage.
And they're both at the bottom of their respective role barrel.
Scoundrel being the worst healer and shadow being the squishiest tank.

It can be done relatively easilly, at lvl 15 simply rush your class quest to get Dorne.
At 16 I solo'd both of the 4+ heroics on coruscant as a dps vanguard, one with dorne and the last one with Jorgan.
Of course you almost always use Dorne on heroic trash. Learn how to kite and reset encounters and heroics 4 become a joke.

Rofl no.
Spreading the community even thinner than it already is only to please the lolduel crowd is a bad idea altogether.

I am the tank.
Is the enemy attacking me? Y/N
If Y, check next enemy.
If N, attack enemy until he attacks me.
How is this so hard to understand?
Bad tanks, bad tanks everywhere.
Thank god this game has no real challenging encounters.
-
Actually in [that other game], pre-bc, they didn't even have anything to "beat" aside from your healers mana bar, as far as encounter goes.
Yeah, except [that other game] came out a decade ago...
So its no excuse really.

Agreed that 3% end is laughable, maybe in 2-3 expension when the number is actually worth it and threat issues have been worked out.
Until then, 9% Aim

I can confirm that the forum search function works
lol wow
I almost can't believe it, it finally works after a month post release

I always fire my gun right when its about to hit them in the face for the added "punch"
Don't you?

its not the hardest...it is however the weakest and thats why you think it's the hardest
Bingo

One dev answered on the old big Guard/Jugg buffs needed thread saying they "felt guards/juggs were fine and don't need major changes"
I know, what the hell...
-
Love how we got assured by the devs that they were fixing it along with the ability delays and yet, 1.1.2 patch notes arrived and still no mortar/full-auto..
Feel like we've been had
-
Honestly, Shadows/Assassins didn't deserve the nerf.
Neither their damage nor stance dancing was causing complaints, nor were they OP...
What the hell Bioware?
Enough with the stupid Nerf roulette crap, focus on fixing/buffing
-
People do not want to waste excess time in this modern age.
Agreed
-
Good one
Coming up next, RP-Illum glitches

There are plenty of guild-centric features already planned and many are in development - for example guild banks, which we've talked about for Game Update 1.2.
We are certainly not holding back on development of these features until the summit happens, although we do hope that during the summit when we talk about future development, we'll get some validation from the community as a whole (and not just those attending) that we're on the right track. (And why are we waiting until the summit? Well, the development team isn't quite ready to talk about many of these features yet, but we've challenged them to ensure they are by the summit.)
Finally, I appreciate the feedback in this thread, but I'd ask you to remain constructive in your comments.
Armor. Coloring. please
-
Its funny how the devs keep saying "Oh our big focus is going to be PvE and story telling" and yet every gosh darn patch is majorly PvP fiddling.
Not only is this nerf retarded, the simple fact that their team wasted time thinking of ways to "balance" or nerf PvP is just plain .
Leave the damn PvP gear alone and get working on guard/juggs' threat issues or assassin mitigation or consular's project or the gazillion class quest bugs or ship customization or armor coloring or (you get it)
-
Pretty sure you can't have that color now that they took out armor coloring
The armor looks like lvl 50 PvE tier
-
Which designer thinks that pipes connected to n i ppl es are cool. Really?
The same bastard that designed the Jedi Knight armors
-
Yes OP, you've figured it out, all those people asking for PvE buffs are obviously just bads at PvP.
Your logic is flawless.

Why so serious
Bounty Hunter is worst than s**t ?
in Combat Styles
Posted · Edited by dargor-
PvP doesn't matter.
But for the sake of discussion, a Sorc would have done the 600k Healing PLUS around 200-300k Shielding...
The Bounty Hunter would have probably done 400-500k healing PLUS 200k of Tracer Missile spam+ would have tossed people off bridges/cliffs + would have survived easier.
What makes Operatives the worst is their bad energy management and the fact that in challenging encounters they do run out of ressources way more quickly than the other 2 healers.
Not saying Operatives are bad healers, nor that they can't heal fine trough content, just that they are the weakest of the 3.
