  1. I sell stuff (specialty Steels) , used to blow up stuff (US Army combat engineer), and also shoot stuff (US Army Infantry), and now fix the things that shoot stuff (US Army National Guard, unit armorer). I play a bounty hunter in game.
  2. Not true at all. I run a Core I7 920 at 3.6 GHZ with a GTX580 and the game runs at 60 FPS all the time. Thats only limited because of Vsinc.
  3. I don't know what cries fanboy to you in this post other then the word Bioware. Its simple common sense. I know that can tend to be not so common these days. I have a system that puts out its share of heat, but I was able to think to myself I might need some good airflow to support all this. Then I thought to myself, I might need to clean my filters and my hardware once in awhile, and presto, I have a cool system that works all the time. See how that works now?
  4. Thats cool. I imagine you did. I was with Aco, 326 engineers. We were usually attached to 327 infantry when we were out in the field. It sure is a small world sometimes.
  5. What are you computers specs? do you have an overclocked processor? Did you try to reinstall the game? What are your temps on the processor and your graphics card? Is your power supply to weak? Do you meet the min. req. for the game? could be any number of these things.
  6. I have a Sager gaming laptop with a 560M card, and thats about the bare minimum to run this game on the high settings. I would just lower your settings and you will run it fine.
  7. US Army, 101st Airborne 98-2000 (Combat Engineer 12B, Sapper Qualified) 2nd Inf. Div. Korea 2000-2002 3rd Armored Cav. 2002-2004 (1 combat Tour, Iraqi Freedom) US Army NG (Oregon) 2004 - 2011 (Infantry 11B) Good to see other vets here.
  8. I really have no clue how you can already be bored with the game. Even if you don't have a job, don't sleep, have a g/f , b/f, wife, husband, and live in your parents basement with nothing better to do, I doubt you could have finished all of the class stories. With a job, a g/f who still likes me, and important real life responsibilities, I have allot of fun with this game. Again though, I have only had time to get one character to level 31. That's about a 2 hour a day average. If you are that bored, here is a solution, go get an actual life in real life, and tone down your time in game a bit.
  9. You shouldn't need to uninstall any previous NVIDIA drivers. NVIDIA's install program will take care of that for you. You are also going to want to install the hardware first, and then worry about the driver installation. All in all that's a general rule of thumb to remember with a couple of exceptions here and there. Also download the latest beta drivers, they seem to work the best with SWTOR. Any more questions let me know.
  10. Hillsboro checking in here.
  11. If yours is using that much RAM on idle you have allot going on in the background, mine uses 1 GB at most. Might want to run a Malware scan.
  12. Well I'm sure your not older by much. I posted some pictures of myself a few pages back, I don't know if you checked them out or not.
  13. I was actually surprised by the amount of people here around my age (32). You look like your maybe a bit younger then me so you shouldn't feel old at all. By the way I also love scuba. I have only been a couple times, and I'm not certified, but it is allot of fun.
  14. I love how the current young generation has to have everything now now now. Most of you don't realize the complex logistics that have to go into something of this size and complexity. The nice thing about an MMO is that it can change over time. Just because mommy and daddy gave you everything right when you screamed for it doesn't mean Bioware or anyone else is going to.
  15. I have this problem also. Its not a heat issue, and it only appeared after the latest patch. I think its more of a driver issue. I'm pretty sure it will be covered in NVIDIA's next driver release. I don't find it game breaking, so I'm not too worried about it.
  16. I too have a high end system and it runs great. Its just a matter of getting updated drivers, and updated operating system and running regular defrags. With a little tweaking I'm sure most people could get this to run just fine. Also, most high end folks like me overclock....if you are having FPS or crash problems you might want to try running defalt setting on your processor and RAM. My system: Intel I-7 920 overclocked to 3.6GHZ Corsair Dom. 1333 DDR3 RAM 16GB NVIDIA GTX580 (EVGA brand) Windows 7 64 Bit
  17. Your specs look pretty good. You might want to see if you have the latest driver from NVIDIA. Look in the Beta drivers section. I'm running the latest beta driver and it works great for the most part. You also might want to check and make sure you drive is defragmented, and that your background programs are not chewing up allot of your resources.
  18. Make sure your mulithreading optimization is on in the NVIDIA control panel. Also the last poster was right...that is an AM2 socket platform, you might want to double check what processor you are running as that could be your bottleneck. Also Windows Vista is quite bad at doing anything right, so you could be running into a problem there too. Try right clicking on the link to launch the game, and select Windows XP compatibility mode. That has worked for some folks.
  19. well you can always update you card on your desktop. An NVIDIA midrange card would work fine, such as the GTX560. You could probibly get one for under $200.
  20. what was your MOS in the Corps? I wasn't in the Corps, but I did 14 years in the Army as a combat engineer and infantry.
  21. I run this game perfectly on my GTX580. Most of these people who have crashes and or some kind of problem most likely do not have up to date drivers, have the driver settings wrong, or have some sort of power supply issue. Also if they overclock their processors like I do, that could also cause hard crashes or black/blue screens of death.
  22. Yep your card is the problem. I would look at an NVIDIA GTX560. It is a good mid range card that is not all that expencive. Like a poster said above, make sure your power supply can handle the card, but I imagine it should, the 560 doesn't draw a huge amount of power.
  23. the most important hardware for a gaming rig is your graphics card. Yours is most likely the integrated type. You would want one that is independent. You can do several small maintanence type things to help things run a bit more smoothly. Try a drive cleanup and defrag. Also close as many background programs as possible to free up system resources. Do a spyware and virus scan to make sure there are no nasty programs on there using up your resources. That should help a little.
  24. Have you tried to turn off shadows? they seem to be a hardware hog at the moment. Be sure to check your profile for TOR in the driver and make sure it doesn't have any weird settings enabled. Also what kind of network connection do you have? That could explain the lag in warzones.
  25. Found a few more older ones. One of them is from last August though so its not too old. Here is the most recent one. It was taken in central Oregon http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=272334126111529&set=a.160095020668774.39697.100000048320083&type=3&theater This one is back from '09 http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=109401895738087&set=a.160095020668774.39697.100000048320083&type=3&theater and one from way back in '05 during the hurrican katrina cleanup. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=100792089932401&set=a.160095020668774.39697.100000048320083&type=3&theater
