  1. Agreed, DAOC & SWG for example had a much better system. The materials were easily gained but it required time and luck to make perfect items. Yes we have the exceptional stat but the fact is "exceptional" does not lets say take a level 50 purp and change it into a level 56 purp. Doing it like this means a player could completely, and individually focus on just being a tradeskillsman and make higher tier gear that people would actually pay for. With the ease of getting PVP gear it is basically pointless to craft level 49 purp mods/enhancements when I can grab level 56 purp ones out of pvp gear for around the same cost as buying the level 49. The gathering system is great. Very unique and a good concept. The actually crafting is extremely rudimentary and completely misses the mark.
  2. Pretty much ANY class can fight 3 vs 1(+ healer) or 3v2 and walk away. You don't tank much damage in PvP unless everyone you are fighting are using "weapon damage" abilities which is very unlikely.
  3. I agree with your assessment but wait for a bit. The new 50's bracket will prevent much of your previous hate. What would happen previously is a guy would log in who is 50 and be stuck with 7 guys levels from 10-25 and no healers. You would give it a good 60 seconds to see what you are matched up against and realize there is no way in hell you stand a chance and drop instead of wasting another 10 minutes. @50 Wins matter due to quests. Pre-50 the XP / coins are far more important and you get those win or lose.
  4. I watched the whole video. It wasn't until like the 9:00 min mark that he finally fought someone with half a brain. This "pvp" video reminded me of another video where that kid walks into a group of like 4 ppl and starts punching them in the face. They are all like "***" are you doing while he keeps punching them and kicking them and they don't even try to defend themselves. Sorry, your class may be good. And I can tell by your movement that you are good.. but that was some really weak competition.
  5. People are getting frustrated. We consistently get outdone by other classes. So either all jugs are terrible players (unlikely) or the class is severely handicapped. To top it off the development of this game does not seem to give a rats arse or are so friggin stupid as to be unable to communicate any future plans to cease our worrying. This is debatable. Powertech has much less problem kiting, and can damage while kiting. Powertech does not have to worry about knockback or PBAE abilities for the most part. They also have superior AE tanking capabilities. They provide major crits with significant setup steps required. They cannot open with large crits or sustain large crits on every attack. If anything their large "crits" are far to small to be comparable to other classes with large crits that can repeat them fairly consistently. Final Thoughts: The game is fun. It is significantly less fun at 50 when you realize how much easier of a time other classes have in doing nearly everything.
  6. From the 1.1 patch notes: Sith Inquisitor Assassin Dark Charge: Healing received through Dark Charge has been increased, scales properly at higher levels, and can only be triggered once every 4.5 seconds. Overcharge Saber: Now allows Dark Charge to trigger once every 3 seconds. Wither: Damage has been increased by 15% and it now slows the movement speed of all affected targets. Sith Warrior Intercede: This ability no longer functions on Portable Holo Dancers. Shatter: this ability’s tooltip now correctly reflects its damage; damage from this ability has not been adjusted. / Can someone tell me when Marauders got intercede?
  7. This is the one that pisses me off. I will chain stun your class (And even Sorcs) and throw in 3-4 interrupts during that chain stun sequence to prevent any left>right casts. Will pound on your for 1-2 minutes and ultimately at the end your class is full health and I am dead. Gotta love Jugs.
  8. Marauders are Sith warriors. The vast majority of damage from warriors is "weapon damage" thus we actually mitigate them properly. I am not familiar with marksmanship snipers but I am guessing that the same will end up being true. The majority of their main used abilities use "weapon damage" as a base. But please try to explain to me how "cutting me with a sharp object to cause a bleed" was able to get past my shields, dodge, parry, and armor? Or why "kinetic" (IE Hitting someone with a club is kinetic force) is not able to be shielded, or dodge/parried? Maybe they should have used a different term instead of kinetic like "DamageType: IWiNBuTT0N". At least then this would make a little more sense and would be much easier for players like us to make informed decisions to leave.
  9. Ultimately the problem is the fact that most of the abilities used are "instant" effects that do not have a method to counter and are on short, rotatable CD's. In nearly all MMO's the majority of "Spells" are non mitigated by armor/dodge/parry/shields but they have either a channel or cast time. This is also true in SWToR. These types of abilities give the opponent the ability to interrupt through either damage dealing, interrupts, KB's, stuns or LoS. With a large variety of hard hitting instant use abilities this basic game play function is removed. Because of this poor design PvP tanks are pretty much shafted. They lose out on 50% or more of their potential DPS and only mitigate a small fraction more than non tank specced/geared classes. And to make it even worse, the fact that even if we specced off of the tank tree into a combat tree the itemization of our tank gear will prevent any significant damage increases.
  10. Just replying because you don't seem to understand how PvP works. / Dev has already indicated there is issues with Jug's ability to close distance. This bug directly effects that ability.
  11. That is because sorc's are one of the best pvp tanks. Their shield is the only ability in the game that mitigates all damage types 100%. They have a 20 second PBaE KB that can stun. And a "sprint" that breaks all CC. They are like a mix of WoW druid/Priest. Fun Fun.
  12. Good luck with that. This is really turning out to be a one subscription cycle game. Wonder if it is the same PM's who worked on Rift.
  13. Yeah, Immortal get an instant until we get epic gear then its back to a channel (for 1 second) but still requires you to stop moving. I really think they just need to give the warrior a 10% move speed increase, and fix mitigation. Then I would be happy.
  14. Mobility is not my complaint. I don't understand why that is their first choice. My complaint is the fact that my defense skill and shields do nothing against 80% of the attacks used by other players. We get all of that and they threw in a package, free of charge, the lowest DPS in the game. Mitigation needs to be reworked or immortal jugs need a serious single target DPS increase.
  15. You are wrong. That is how we "Think" and "Wish" it worked but that is not reality hence why tanks are not tanky in PvP. Only "Weapon Damage" attacks are able to be shielded, block/parried (defense), and armor reduced. Kinetic attacks cannot be shielded or blocked/parried. They are reduced against armor. Internal (bleeds usually) and Elemental (spells like lightening) are not mitigated at all but can be resisted (albeit extremely rarely). Don't spread information you have not performed testing on. The damage types and reductions are tested and becoming more thoroughly tested daily. And a "miss" has nothing to do with your opponents defense.

    Ilum is a joke

Yep, pretty much. This is all due to the fact they did not have the foresight to limit character creation at launch to keep server pop discrepancy within 20-25%. Right now most servers are 2 - 6 to 1 imp vs rep.
  17. Problem is the fact that this damage stuff is just coming to light due to tanks realizing they cannot tank in PvP. Only "weapon damage" basically the WHITE damage is fully mitigatable. Kinetic is only reduced by armor and everything else ... you might as well be naked. This game has potential but they seem to be completely missing the point. I expect a mass exodus in the next 2-3 weeks if there are not some obvious balance fixes posted in the patch notes on the test forum.
  18. That is absolute BS. PVP servers == FULL PVE servers == Not a single one FULL So if this is a PVE game why are the PVP servers full? Either way I do not think this game has staying power. They are not addressing things that actually matter.
  19. And you think melee with our super short range don't deal with ability lag? With two people jousting the opponent is often not hittable even though they are sitting right in front of you. Or you use a KB ability and they fly at a 90 or 120 from your current facing direction. Ranged guys are easy mode. No autoface = good. You actually have to turn your character instead of having to just keep pressing 1-2 keys to kill everything.
  20. that, and i think force leap is completely mitigatable and lightening is not.
  21. This will be true once / if the defense / shield stats actually mitigate vs most player abilities. Until then defense (Tank) specced players are at a huge disadvantage as damage scales proportionately and defense basically does not scale at all. Other than that I pretty much agree it is all minor tweaks.
  22. Or be an inquisitor. I swear to god every time I use KB (Even when no one has touched them in a good 10 seconds) it is resisted or they fly at like 120 degrees from my position facing them. Really friggin frustrating when you are the last line of defense.
  23. Cant remember the planet but is one of the later ones (early/mid 40's) with the Dark heart as the main story component. Nearly all the creatures use dots (Which we don't mitigate at all). That planet was a pain in the arse. One strong creep would take me down to 10-20% life if I did not use any 1+ min CD abilities. Obviously if I chain stun something I can prevent most of the damage like when fighting elites.
  24. You are not the only one. 500+ matches in PVP and i've not seen a single person break 400k. Numbers, bottoms and a mighty pull I guess?
