  1. Except for the fact they're both tremendously useful when leveling and still useful at 50?
  2. OK. Tired of OP dummy parses with apparently don't include defence so I slogged through a combat log to get a parse from a Karagga 16 man Nightmare Mode my guild managed to do today for the final boss Karagga. Keeping in mind this is a very melee friendly fight as you can be in melee range with the boss the entire time. Force Sweeping mouse droids can be a significant boost to DPS as critting 3-5 droids for 2k+ is pretty good damage. Additionally this DPS log will include Dispatch which is something we cannot use on the OP dummy. Parse: http://loganalyzer.blacksheeptroopers.com/stats/35135/showfgt Build: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bIbRrRMfsZhMMZMz.1 DPS: 1,742.05 overall Buffs: All class buffs, Exotech might stim, Inspiration from myself and two other Sentinels in my group during the fight, Zen as soon as it was up (no Adrenals or Power Relics) Gear: Rakata Mainhand, Columi offhand with a 41 Power Crystal and 58 Mod slotted. Black Hole feet slotted into Rakata feet, Rakata everything else, crit Rakata bracers/belt, crit mainhand and offhand and Crit body with 2 STR, 2 PWR and 1 Surge aug. Crafted Matrix Cube and Campaign Elemental damage relic.
  3. I don't know what to tell you other than in our guild Sentinels are instead the highest DPS on fights that are melee friendly. On fights like Gharj it's our Gunslinger who's in the lead for DPS.
  4. Uh this is quite untrue. Sentinels have relatively very poor AoE and Opportune and Pommel Strike help tremendously when dealing with trash mobs. I'm now critting for over 5k on a Pommel Strike which means it can one shot any trash mob stunned with Force Sweep or Awe (or Blade Storm but I'm Watchman spec so I use Blade Storm maybe once in a blue moon). An easy way to use them is at the beginning of the fight: Force Leap to Silver or below > Opportune Strike > Force Sweep (or Awe for Silver) > Pommel Strike Silver to below > Begin regular rotation. I use Opportune Strike on the Stun droids during Fabricator, Pommel Strike on the droids that spawn for the Annialation Droid in EV. You won't use them everything fight, especially during raids and whatnot. But when you're soloing when leveling or doing dailies both of them make for great opening attacks as they do plenty of damage, cost no Focus and quickly deal with trash adds. All of your abilities have their uses, some obviously more than others.
  5. How could they not put in defence on an OPs dummy? Oh well, at least they're aware of it and will get it fixed.
  6. While this is certainly done you still run the risk if someone kills their enemy and runs close to you. Considering we can easily down enemies in the council fight without Zen and everyone in your OP group should be able to solo enemies down (at least to the point where the rest of your group can attack it once after they have killed theirs) I'd say it's just not worth the risk. Because of that when doing the council fight I simply remove it from my bar so it won't go off.
  7. Accuracy is pretty worthless in PVE as you'll be getting enough bonus from your gear, especially when you get to higher levels. AoE damage reduction is tremendously helpful in raids as well. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bIbRrRMfsZhMMZMz.1
  8. No, you're spot on. I was tired of all the posts saying that Demo Round was not receiving bonus damage from Grav Round when it's pretty clear to me, even on only my 43 Commando, that it was. My intent was just to prove that it is receiving a buff and Grav Round is still applying an Armour debuff. Thus if the Commando DPS is actually lower than intended people can complain that the straight DPS is lower than it should be, which is fine if that is the case. However complaining to the devs that Grav Round and Demo Round do not work when they are doing exactly what they're described as doing will get you nothing but "working as intended" because they are.
  9. For what it's worth I tested the Grav Round debuff itself with something that gains no inherent bonus from it stacked on enemies. So I stacked Grav Round x5 and then tossed a Grenade on a stacked OP dummy. JK buff only, no stim level 43 Trooper. I think from this we can conclude that Grav Round still applies an armour debuff AND Demo Round still receives a significant damage bonus compared to all other abilities. 10. Done with a level 43 Trooper with a JK buff and Trooper buff with a level 40 AIM stim that does not persist through death. Enemy is an OP dummy. Relatively small sample size but you can see a very consistant damage output. The highest non-grav debuffed Demo Round isn't even close to the lowest grav debuffed Demo Round. 11. It's a pretty good indicator of Spike fights like Gharj and Soa and whatnot. However he didn't address if he was using Inspiration, Adrenals, etc. in which case it wouldn't be possible to keep that up.
  12. Gave parsing another go after getting some new gear. Managed to get enough Black Hole Commendations to switch out my Armouring, Mod and Enhancement from my Rakata Feet. Thus I dropped Crit and Accuracy for Power and Surge. Parse: http://loganalyzer.blacksheeptroopers.com/stats/26236/showfgt Build: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bIbRrRMfsZhMMZMz.1 Buffs: JK/Trooper only (no Stims or Adrenals used) ~1390 DPS over the course of 14 minutes. For gear I have a critted mainhand, offhand, body, rakata bracers and belt. Slotted into those I have 2 STR, 2 PWR and 1 Surge. My offhand is a Columi but everything else is Rakata except for my boots which I mentioned I slotted in with a set of Black Hole feet. Right now I sit at about 99% ACC, 29.6% Crit and 75.3% Surge.
  13. Masterstrike should be used in your rotating even before the significant buff it received. It costs no Focus and does superb damage and works as an excellent time fill while you're waiting on the cooldown of other abilities like Overload Saber, Cauterize and Merciless Slash.
  14. We can spike tank better than any other class in the game for 6 seconds.
  15. Am I crazy or are orange crafted Synthweaving items now requiring Scavenging and Archaeology? This is in addition to use having to use Underworld trading. So to Synthweave we now need *four* crew skills?
  16. Parse: http://loganalyzer.blacksheeptroopers.com/stats/610/showcl Build: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bIbRrRMfsZhMMZMz.1 Gear: Full Rakata except Columi offhand (offhand upgraded with 41 Power Crystal and 58 Mod). Critted Rakata belt and bracers with 1 STR and 1 PWR Aug respectively. Critted offhand with a PWR Aug in it. Using the Elemental Damage Relic bought with 200 daily comms. Buffs: Only the JK class buff, no stims/adrenals I think I should add that there is a DPS drop off after you stop attacking. For what it's worth I was doing about 1310 DPS while fighting. I've managed to get myself up to hovering between 1345-1355 DPS using the above build with just the JK buff but honestly it takes a while to get that high as it takes a bit to get Merciless Slash going off fast. So personally I don't think 1345-1355 is a realistic number to expect, rather ~1300ish with just a JK buff and no Stim seems the most reasonable. I know some people seem to like to keep Overload Saber at 3 stacks and use non-direct damage dealing abilities like Force Sweep, Blade Storm and Force Stasis to fill in the gap to keep it up. However after myself and another 2 Sentinels in my guild testing it out we found that you're within about 1% damage, give or take, doing that and not even bothering with it and instead doing higher damage DD abilities instead. So personally I don't bother anymore to simplify my rotation. Also Burn effects do about 40% of my damage on Operations bosses on dummies and in the field from what I've checked so I will often hold off a second or two on Merciless Slash if it means I can Cauterize > Merciless Slash (to reset Cauterize) and then reapply it the second it is finished.
  17. wait you told work you were going on vacation and you told your family you were going on a work trip... so you could play an MMO?
  18. If you want to tank roll a Guardian. If you want to dish out arguably the best single target DPS in the entire game roll a Sentinel. Also two lightsabers.
  19. While that maybe so it's most certainly not "for free" by any sort. Having first to unlock an appropriate Legacy level and also having to still find the datacrons. I wouldn't worry about it. The +10 datacron is an unfun ordeal and a half because the MGGS is utterly broken and does not work properly at all.
  20. How is it getting them "for free" when you still have to unlock them? All it does is save you having to go through the 10+ hour grind on each of your alts which, while maybe kind of fun for the first bit unlocking the lore, loses it's appeal instantly when you have to do it all over again.
  21. Something I'm surprised hasn't already been added to the Legacy system is the addition of unlocked datacrons across accounts. Getting 67/67 is a pretty tiresome ordeal and doing it all over again on other characters isn't something I'm looking forward to. How about through the Legacy system you keep all the previously discovered datacrons unlocked across your account, rather than character?
