  1. That's pretty easily explained: - Being killed from stealth is often considered less fair than if someone runs straight up to you and kills you. Even if the player being killed from stealth could have reacted and survived (and that's the whole point when fighting stealth based classes anyway, they are at a massive disadvantage when their stealth attack fails). - People come to forums to explain their failure away by blaming other classes. It's called being a sore loser. - There are many good examples of a lot of people being wrong. Beverly Hills 90210 was a popular show. People thought the earth was flat. Etc. "That many people can't be wrong" is a horrible argument.
  2. I can follow that argument for Lethality. If the OP stays with Concealment though, I don't think there's much to gain by using cover.
  3. I level as Concealment, and it works well for me. Not posting a full talent build, but you'll want to get anything that gives you bonus damage, everything that has to do with Lacerate, the stealth talent (not the stealth detection talent unless you PvP), and Revitalizers. It's pretty simple really. You'll have some spare points that you can throw into increased healing done/received or endurance. It's not a big difference and it's very hard to mess up your build. You'll have to try a few fights to get the hang of the figthing style. I try always to keep up TA and Stim Boost. I also keep Corrosive Dart on strong mobs for the TA proc chance on Lacerate. I think you'll figure out the rest by playing it, but just don't forget the stuns, shield probe, and eviscerate (they are so easy to forget but make a big difference).
  4. Doesn't seem to matter really. The barrel decides the amount of damage, and the mod and enhancement the rest of the stat bonuses. Seems like it's just a style thing. Besides, it's not like Kaliyo ever did any real damage
  5. I am at 34 now on Taris. I have a bit of downtime when fighting level 35ish mobs, not anything that bothers me though. I doubt you can kill everything entirely without downtime right now. I can deal with elites well enough as well, though sometimes I have to kite them a bit. Bunch of things to remember: - shield probe is free - use debilitate on cooldown, and remember to eviscerate/head shot (also free) - flash grenade is good against groups in general - sleep dart silvers in groups and take them out last if you want to take less damage - keep up stim boost for the regen from revitalizers But don't forget that at 36 you get Hidden Strike, which I can pretty much guarantee will be a big help. PS: Even though Kaliyo has great gear, I am doing better with Vector at the moment.
  6. She was incredibly useful for me in that fight. She didn't do any damage, but Jadus kept spending time keeping her down instead of trying to kill me.
  7. That's how I feel about WoW now and why I stopped playing. It's probably also because I played it too much. But it feels like when every rotation wasn't so overdesigned (I've always hated the idea of a rotation and much prefer simple class mechanics but more reactive fights where the abilities you use depend on awareness and not rehearsed mechanics) and when the game was a bit less streamlined, it was more fun to play. There were big problems, but we enjoyed it regardless. Right now I'm enjoying TOR a lot because of the quests, but I fear that I will see endgame as a poor WoW clone in a Star Wars costume. I am not quite there yep, and I hope I am wrong about this.
  8. I guess that's your problem then. Level 29 IS 3 levels below the level of the quest. Sure you can't leave? Tried the fleet teleport? If not, I guess you can contact support to get you out. Anyway I think in general the class quests are weirdly tuned. Some on Alderaan almost killed me, but the last, ultimate, fight didn't even give me a scratch. Difficulty just seems all over the place. I was also helping someone else out who get stuck in their class quest somewhere else today. Seems like a lot of class quests can be a bit difficult.
  9. Oh yeah I completely understand. I remember using Frost Nova rank 1 in WoW. Used it only for freezing things, so there was no point in higher ranks whatsoever. At least not in vanilla WoW. I've also stopped buying upgrades for abilities I never use as a Concealment op. There are only a few of those, but they don't seem useful for healing or for melee dps.
  10. I'm a bit annoyed it doesn't say how much it absorbs. But I assume the higher ranks absorb more. If so, why wouldn't you buy it? 30k isn't that much at a high level. But yeah, like you I'd like to know what the difference is.
  11. Wish I could help. I don't know what it was that made him easy for me. Perhaps Jadus can have trouble hitting you if you have trouble hitting him. But I did use Shield Probe, I stunned him as often as possible and interrupted his big cast (with the lightning). I tried a ranged approach in one round where I used Corrosive Dart, Overload Shot and the free attack mainly, and it seemed he wasted a lot of time running around. Might be good to try that as well.
  12. I finished this fight tonight at level 32. I'm wondering if he was nerfed or something, because he wasn't difficult at all. Finished it in the first try. I am Concealment specced and brought Kaliyo. I did stun and interrupt him a lot (flash, debilitate, distract). The only real trouble I had was running out of patience because apparently you can only really attack him sometimes from certain angles, and he won't run down the stairs at all. So yeah, it needs to be fixed. But difficult? I don't see it.
  13. I haven't seen it fail to cast. I've seen the animation fail a few times though. But in general healing feels very clunky to me. Seems like there's a delay on abilities, and it's messing up my rhythm. I've healed for years in WoW, but didn't think operative healing worked all that well. I'll try it again and 50 and see what happens.
  14. I am admittedly not at a particularly high level. But this is what I have gathered so far. It's not a rotation (I *hate* rotations) but just a list of rules that I've gathered from different guides and from my own experiences with the game. 1. You should keep up Tactical Advantage. This is pretty much why Shiv is useful. 2. You should keep up Stim Boost. Refresh it ASAP after it runs out. 3. You should keep your silver+ target poisoned with Corrosive Dart. 4. You should keep up your armor penetration buff from Acid Blade. Of course Acid Blade is also awesome for DPS. 5. Lacerate is great. But it will only (when fully talented) refresh TA 50% of the time. This means you can sometimes use it more, and sometimes not so much. Again this shows that you cannot have a specific rotation. 5. Most importantly: Your energy regen should be maxed at all times, but your energy should never be at 100. Only go to low energy levels if you're going to use Adrenaline Probe. You will have to mix in your free attack to make sure your energy regen stays maxed. You will notice that this list of rules leaves you with plenty to do. At my level, I sometimes have to use Overload Shot because my energy is too high, but I'm not sure this will always be the case. It may seem like a long list, but having personally played a feral druid in WoW when the "rotation" (priority list) was at its worst, I think this is actually pretty forgiving without being completely boring. Keep in mind, I know this is not a professional guide. But I think it's pretty accurate.
  15. At level 26 I'm enjoying concealment. I'm sure it becomes better when I get all of my key abilities, but already when I got Lacerate I could feel a huge power boost. I've been doing well in heroic quests with too few people (or just me) thanks having sleep dart, stuns AND healing (I usually have plenty of time to top off Kaliyo's health before fighting the last elite). By no means do you have to be healing specced to survive elites. And if you're DPS specced, you'll kill a lot faster. I tried healing, and it was pretty slow compared.
  16. I ran into this problem myself. Nobody around knew what was going on. Opened a ticket but no luck there either (I did receive a generic answer after I updated my ticket with the workaround I had used). Not sure which workarounds people have been posting here, but this worked for me: 1. Enter the last flashpoint I had been in. This was also the only flashpoint I could actually enter. 2. Alt+F4. (it's probably just enough to leave, but I had the disappearing cursor bug and didn't realize I could right click to resolve it) 3. Log back on, reset flashpoints. I tried many other things first. Of course I tried resetting. Other people tried to reset for me. Abandoned all quests. Had people invite me (but accepting did not work if it required a reset). On the bright side, I was surprised how many people actually tried to help me. I didn't realize it could have anything to do with my previous flashpoint. Because I had succesfully finished that ages ago.
  17. Damage meters do give certain people the power to ridicule others or brag (even if they were actually intentionally sabotaging a boss fight to improve their own DPS). I still would like damage meters in the game. Here are a few reasons. 1. If possible, certain people will sit back and leech loot with the bare minimum of effort. I want to find out if this is happening. 2. Sometimes your group is failing and nobody knows what's being done wrong. Damage meters (+healing meters and damage taken) can help you find out. I have seen many examples of this being done in a mature way, where nobody was ridiculed or yelled at. For example, it may help you realize that you misunderstood some mechanics if you can tell your group is being annihilated by a specific attack. 3. I want to be able to measure my own abilities somehow. I usually did quite well in WoW, and I got there by paying attention and using damage meters/healing meters to make sure I stayed sharp. I would like to have that option in SWTOR. 4. Maybe this is the same as the previous point, but it would be extremely helpful to be able to measure your DPS while you are learning your rotation. 5. I like looking at statistics. Sue me. For now, it's refreshing to be in SWTOR without the massive addon abuse (LF1 DPS for SFK, must have 50 gazillion GS). But as more people reach endgame, I bet we're only going to have more requests for damage meters.
