  1. This was awesome. Really, the plots in the original movies are weak. The actors' deliverie are similarly lackluster. The reason why we still hold them up as paragons of sci-fi filmmaking is all nostalgia. Edit: Of course, that's not saying that the prequels are any better. Brrr.
  2. Why side with the Empire? Because not everyone plays as "themselves". For me the choice came down to which side offered the more interesting storylines. I figured it'd be interesting to see how the Imperial military and regular citizens deal with Sith rule, and I was right. Also, the Jedi code stinks. Eunich pebble-throwers? No thanks.
  3. I don't really think it's that bad. At least it's not the "gorilla look for all" of WoW fame. Offtopic: The title of this thread made me wonder if someone was peddling a certain brand of blue pills on the forums....
  4. Forums in general are for discussion, which on occasion will involve differences of opinion. By posting in a relatively public general discussion forum, you open yourself up to everything from differences of opinion to outright verbal abuse. While the latter is unfortunate, these are the breaks. There are special purpose forums for things such as technical support, of course, but this thread is in the general discussion forum. Also, I believe you may rest assured that BioWare isn't using something as simplistic as the ratio of forum complaints to posts by players as a deciding factor in which issues to focus on. Bioware is 100% sure to know of the major issues, and the extent to which they affect players, by data gathered by the client as well as through customer service. Posting continuous bile about how horrible BioWare are to not have fixed your particular issue in general discussion one week after launch isn't going to do anything useful beyond riling up the fans.
  5. I don't find it terribly bad compared to other MMOs around launch. That said, I really would appreciate greater customizability in how my actionbars look and behave. I personally prefer to play with several bars stacked above each other in bottom center of the screen, but SWTOR only lets me put two there. While I understand why one might not want to go the WoW route with full modability of the UI, something akin to WAR's action bars would be nice.
  6. For the love of God, this! The sense of entitlement people base on the meager $15 subscription fee they pay is ridiculous. That's, what, the price of a decent lunch out? There is another aspect to this: Legal Stuff. A reason why you are unlikely to see impromptu official responses (beyond noncomittal form letters) to gameplay complaints is the fear of having statements construed as binding promises. People have based lawsuits on such nonsense before. Finally, if this mmo is the worst one you've encountered in terms of dev communication, you simply haven't played many. WoW was the same way for years. As was EQ, Shadowbane, Rift, AION, AoC, Darkfall, SWG and so forth... little dev involvement in the community is the norm, not the exception.
  7. Meh, rail shooters are about as stimulating as watching paint dry. Give me SWG-style Jump to Lightspeed any day.
  8. F2P is where MMOs go to die. Suggesting that a game goes F2P straight after launch (while it still has a hefty playerbase) is just silly. And greed? Please. Did you think this was a charity?
  9. People who suggest complainers do not "code" look quite silly themselves, and make me suspect their experience extends to that of an undergrad CS student at best. Finding bugs isn't difficult if you've got the right infrastructure and testing procedures. "Coding" is what I do for fun projects in my spare time. Software development on the other hand is a much more involved process, of which the actual writing of code is just one aspect among many. When developing, a team will typically have long lists of bugs or desired changes which are well-known. The changes or fixes prioritized are those which are deemed the most critical, while issues considered less important are left for when there's time for them. Time, by the way, is what it's all about: You have to fulfill your contract, and that typically involves releasing at the agreed-upon time. This, in turn, is why there's not time to fix everything before release.
  10. Eh... no. SW:TOR's "space combat" is a 100% scripted single-player rail shooter, and not even a particularly good one at that. Give me Jump to Lightspeed any day over this turd. Then again, I guess that'd be too complex for a modern game. The mantra is now "the customer is an idiot with the attention span of a goldfish, give him something his meager intellect is capable of grasping".
