So what did the pvp revolve around? Group vs group pvp? How big? What was the goal? Control of resources? Was there a way to rank people? How did you gauge how skilled a player was?

What are you implying? I can agree that swtor does not reward good positioning and peels well but wow really did. I am not sure what game you are referring to.

Don't quote me on this, but I think the top teams from all of the tourney realms (NA/Europe) were invited to the blizzcon tournament? That or mlg, not sure which. I think the TR finally went away though. I think it did with the onset of cataclysm and mlg dropping WoW from their hosted events...

So what we just cater to all the cry babies and give freeby gear out. Lets do the same with pve too. In an WoW arena, gear was almost a non-issue, with the exception of some raiding gear performing really well in arena... An enlighten me on how macros made arena pvp in WoW skill less.

You guys do know there was a thing called a tourney realm in WoW right? It was a pvp realm that you ofcourse paid into, and you were given all of the basic pvp gear from the start, and everyone just did arena on it.

The whole point is this. People want pvp to be an alternative route to acquiring gear like in pve. We want it to be a rated system so that this pvp gear is rewarded to people who have skill. Some people, myself included, are not particularly interested in fighting scripted bosses over and over. I would much rather play pvp in a competitive environment (read arena).

Wow really? You are seriously not giving WoW's pvp system enough credit. I had to buy a new mouse to keep up with the keybinds I needed in pvp. If you wanted to play your class well in arena in WoW, you needed easily over 30 keybinds. Quit lying. You know you bring up a good point here though. In WoW the only real competitive pvp was in arena. Battlegrounds were not competitive (well only maybe rated battlegrounds, but I still think they were ****). Open world pvp was also not competitive because gear level was always an issue. In Arena though, gear was very seldom an issue when considering skill...

Not really. Maybe all of you cry babies should just spend the time to get the gear and then you will have "more" competitive pvp. /End

Quit whining. Just get the gear and then you are even footing. I happen to think that only skilled players should get the gear in a rating system.

It sounds like to me atleast that people who are asking for a "more skilled based pvp" simply do not want to spend the time on a gear grind and just want to step into pvp right away on even ground. To me it sounds catering to the casual pvper...

Wintergrasp was never balanced because the bolstering method was never effective. The higher population side were still pretty dominant. Illum needs to do what blizzard with tol barad simply enforce a 1-1 ratio. It basically makes Illum into a giant warzone. I am fine with this. The empire will kick and whine, but after a while they will decide to reroll. If not, then power to them.

I don't understand why everyone is insistent upon OPEN pvp. Faction imbalance means OPEN pvp will always be ****. There I said it, forget OPEN world pvp.

Make it instanced...make it 50v50. Solves lag and balance.
