  1. Actually, I did already Google it, and if you are referring to the RSA key that has been hacked, Blizzard said they aren't affected by it. I have found nothing that points to someone (without reasonable doubt) being hacked from WoW that used the security key. That being said, I'm not saying it can't be hacked. As someone else pointed out, locking your doors and windows doesn't mean you can't have your house broken into. Locks (along with Firewalls, Antivirus, etc.), as my dad would say, are "to keep the honest people out". The same can be said of the security keys.
  2. Correct, and yes, it was because they were using that same RSA security key you say that fortune 500 companies don't use....
  3. I have 8 characters in total, and have only had to re-choose a name once. That being said, it's funny you said Tabula Rasa did something right...I love Lord British, but yeah, where is that game now?
  4. Ah, that great argument of "it didn't/doesn't happen to me, so it doesn't exist".
  5. I wouldn't say it pisses me off, but yeah, it did annoy me. Sadly, you can cry and complain here all you want, but please, don your flame retardant suit, because once the fanboi's see this thread, they're gonna flame you. "You're supposed to do the quest" or "It only takes a few seconds once you're level 50 to go back and do it, stop being lazy".... Sadly, I gave in, and did them to clean out my log, but no, you shouldn't have to. It seems that Bioware doesn't care much about the complaints we have about that, as I have yet to see an official word on when a fix is coming on that.
  6. That's it, unless Bioware puts in an option to support my Commodore 64, I'm quitting. I'm not going to upgrade my computer, it works just fine for everything else I do (nevermind the fact that I'm playing games from the 80's), there's no reason I can't run this game too!
  7. Sadly, after 1.2 is released, I feel I may join those ranks. Take care, and hope they wake up before it's too late. I really want this game to be as epic as it can be.
  8. Once your done Voss, you'll hit Corellia, and then can do the Hoth or Belsalvis quest lines, and that should easily take you to 50 to hit Ilum from there. Also, you can throw in a space mission here and there, or some Warzones, and EASILY reach 50 without much worry.
  9. 7 days would be great, and an AUCTION style (ie, every "auction" currently is "buy it now" only). I've found that most people on the servers have no idea how to price things, other than using the default price, or under-cutting those who used the default price. This has created a VERY poor economy for SWTOR.
  10. Wow, of all the things to gripe about, I'm glad I left LOTRO well before it hit retail. It sounds like your gripes center around this game not being easy and casual enough...which is sad, cause I'm FAR from a hardcore player, and this game is VERY casual in most respects, especially those you have outlined.
  11. You have spoken wisely, but sadly, out of turn, and for that, the droids will now lock your thread, and possibly delete it. Why? Because you may not speak of the class balances, especially on the non-PTS forum (or even that forum for that matter). The rules have been written by the powers that be, and you must therefore abide by them, whether you want to or not. In English: It's sad, but it seems that Bioware only heard what they wanted to hear at that Guild Summit, don't play the game themselves (or in a capacity that would warrant knowing how to play an MMO) and don't give two-hoots about what we think about the changes or what they'll be doing. Edit: And by speaking out against the 1.2 patch, this thread will be locked, or deleted.
  12. You do realize, that WAY before WoW (yeah, I know, it's hard to imagine that WoW wasn't the first, huh?), the first MMO's were released to support only a few hundred online at one time. So, by definition, considering most servers on this game have well over a few hundred (if not few thousand) per server, I would say it fits the definition of MMO just fine. WoW is the exception in the MMORPG genre, not the standard. When will people realize this?
  13. I have it happen quite often, have to either click or right-click somewhere, and it comes back. No Crossfire or SLI here, single ATI Radeon HD6870.
  14. OMG, OMG, the sky is falling, sell off all your Bioware and EA stock now!
  15. Not only am I not relying on parental funding (it's been well over 20 years since I've needed any funding from my parents), but on top of that, alot of your information is dead wrong. 1) I use windowed mode, and it's actually faster than fullscreen mode, especially if you alt-tab alot. 2) Unchecking vertical sync will not speed things up. In fact, I still don't understand why people do this, no matter how fast it renders, it will NOT display any faster than your monitor refreshes (in most cases, 60fps). If you uncheck this setting, often times, people will see screen tearing. 3) Unchecking bloom will increase fps for most people, but sadly, that machine he has needs to be upgraded, no matter how you slice it, it won't get smooth animation without an upgrade or 2 or 3. 4) Although matching your screen's resolution is a good idea to make it look better, it will not improve his framerate. TLDR: He needs to upgrade that eMachine in the worst way, and no amount of playing with settings will make up for the lack of hardware that machine has, sorry.
  16. Here's the issue with most eMachines, and why it's better to build a real PC, rather than buy one from a store: eMachines have integrated video cards. No problem, go out and buy a video card, right? Wrong! Your power supply is too low wattage. Okay, so I buy a new PSU, and a video card, right? Wrong again! Most eMachine cases don't have the room in the case to actually put a real PSU in it. So now you're looking at a Case, PSU, and a graphics card. When you add the price of the eMachine to these components, you can see why it would have been better to build your own to start with. Anyhow, 400w is very low for a PSU these days, and you may even be short-changing yourself with that. In any case, no matter what PSU you go with, make sure you have the room to install a real PSU.
  17. You do realize that light/standard/heavy are arbitrary numbers, right? By this I mean, they supposedly increased the caps per server, thus what was heavy before is now standard (or possibly light), so it's hard to base it just on looking at the servers. That being said, a lot of people have said populations are dropping, but on my server, I haven't seen this yet, thankfully.
  18. Single play in an MMO setting? To that I say: Multiboxing.
  19. If they want to add a "no-fly zone" around the vendors and the mailbox, sure, but the "traffic lanes" should still have speeders there. If not, then I propose the following: 1) Condense the fleet area, reduce the dead space, and make it less walking to get from point A to point B. One of the big areas would be for crafters who want to purchase mats from the crew skill vendor (or get training) and then sell goods on the GTN. 2) OR make it so that on the fleet, everyone moves at the same speed as a fast mount. This would actually be the best solution to everyone's problems: a) Noone would feel slighted for moving slower b) No need to reduce the foot print of the fleet sizes (so things don't get cramped) c) No jerks parking huge speeders on the mailbox The second idea would only tick off one person (from what I can see), and that's those who purposely park on the vendors and mailboxes to piss people off.
  20. I'm pretty sure based on the way the account settings work on the website, you can upgrade at any time (provided you spent the money) and not lose your characters. When you buy the pre-order, digital, or collector's edition's, there are additional codes you enter in your account settings. If you enter these in a regular account, I don't see why it would upgrade your current account. Note - I'm not 100% sure of this, as I have never done it, but from the view point of having pre-order and digital deluxe, this *should* in theory work.
  21. 10 Seconds? I'd bet the farm on this being a HUGE exaggeration. Go to Alderaan, queue up for a Warzone, and after you leave the Warzone, you're gonna tell me it takes 10 seconds to start playing again? Bull. I have an Agility 3 SSD, HD6870 Video Card, 16GB of memory, 8-core processor, and both the game and Windows 7 64-bit are installed on the SSD. It still takes about a minute to load back into game from a Warzone on Alderaan.
