  1. Agreed (your last sentence), level 50 content is horrible in TOR atm, which is very dissapointing. Grouping is becoming increasingly problematic (depending on your server), especially with no ops/FP finder or any sort of cross realm play/searching. I personally do not consider dailies to be "content". Ops are disgustingly easy on hard modes (8 man, because 16 is pointless and drops are identical, for some fu*ked reason), and the mechanics are very basic. As for the general *****iness of people toward each other about how fast, or slow, you level, its all subjective. Calling people names because they play for a longer stretch/faster or shorter time/slower is just CHILDISH...grow up, and stop being mean to your fellow players. Besides, this post is about 50 content, not the leveling process.
  2. Agreed. I've played SWG (til the class and combat change), EQ2 (bout 3 months), WOW (4.5 years), and EVE (almost 2 years). I think, all told, the most fun ive had, was with SWG (for the crafting, its all i did, LOVED IT, AND for the social aspect) and EVE (for the pvp and tactical/political environment...crafting too ) Now, saying that, yes, SWG had a TON of problems, buggy as hell, and alot of game issues in general. EVE also is kinda niche, as its not user friendly and the learning curve can be quite steep, but rewarding. How i would like TOR to be: 1. GET RID of the classes....1 of the best things about SWG is you had 1 toon, but it could do ANYTHING...so what if its a grind to drop all of marksman or droid engineer to take up doctor or musician? Themepark design is a worse grind imo, because theres always a new set of tier to get, a new set of x gear for y character, dailies to do, UGH, enough with dailies!!! 2. BRING THE SOCIAL ASPECT!...SWG gave very good reasons to hit the cantina, because it was guaranteed to be populated (even on the worst planets) with people to talk to, or to get buffs, or just listen to the general rabble. With TOR, its general chat on the station...and even then its a total pita to get a group together to do much of anything. Planets are worse...totally seperated people soloing 99% of the content, because everyone has a "pet". Very disconnected... 3. TOTALLY PLAYER DRIVEN CRAFTING/ECO. No brainer there...both EVE and SWG nailed that. "Dungeon drops? No. Crafting drops, YES. Do a wormhole op in a cl5 magentar wh, get sleeper loot to sell in jita, or use to craft your own t3 componets. KIll a ton of nightsisters for an armor drop, or kryatt dragons for weapon materials... Some "tier" stuff is fine, peachy, but make the majority of drops tradeable and useful. "Tier" barrles, crystals, cloth, the list is endless. This would have guilds either stockpile them so their crafters could make guildies items (aka WOW drops of purple crafting mats) or sell to buff the GB...pugs could just roll and sell them or use for themselves. Thats some of my main wishes....but truth be told, unless bioware changes TOR to not be "WOW in space"...its going to be a 200 million dollar voicover disaster. Oh and : +10 to you sir!
  3. For me personally, ill say, 3-4 months...thats a quarterly statement to action taken, money wise. Game terms, i just expected more from this game at launch : macros, a, at the very least, frame movable ui....among other quality of life issues that would be blatantly obvious in a beta test. But, that said, ill be patient. I'm giving it til April to see if the legacy system is worth a damn (wish they wernt so coy, just put out specifics for fu*ks sakes), if crafting plans are at LEAST put to an idea stage of developement (givin the devs desire to "eventually" make TOR a player driven eco) and quality of life issues like speeder speed are addressed. Time will tell.
  4. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Op wants SWG (player driven, player owned, player EVERYTHING) crafting, not SWG the game itself. This is the perfect forum, since there is no "crafting forum". (and since your companions do all your crafting, ya, nuf said). I totally want TOR to go to a player driven, complex, non themepark crafting system. Tier drops are fine, but i think that the majority of drops should be crafting consumables...I loved SWG crafting...its all i did, and i loved it. You have my vote. Of course, i cant see player structures being added, so harvesting would have to be totally reworked (which it needs to be anyways, sending a companion off for an hour and have poor or no results, is, rather FUC*ING stupid imo) The devs have stated they eventually want a player driven eco...so well see....im just not sure if people will hang around that long.
  5. ^^ this, plus 10, with a side of sugar and spice. I have posted similar things to a lesser extent, but you nailed it....especially with the social aspect...this game has ZERO social aspect...none, nada, zip. I mean common, everyone has a companion (crappy controls on it, limited skills, moronic interaction, but hey, everyone has a "pet")...that alone means you very rarely, if ever, need to group. and with the vast ammount of running around, makes grouping especially difficult imo. I started Galaxies as a crafter on day 1...i remember sampleing crappy metals on tat and selling junk blasters/giving them away and making friends...and if you wanted to know what was happening, on any planet...get a buff, get some info, you hit the nearest cantina...talk about social...so miss that :/
  6. Depends if current issues are addressed in a timely manner... Atm, im bored as well, 2 50's, not fully geared but the process is identical to wow (even "tier" gear...sheesh, how original) Crafting is clumbersome, worthless but for biochem atm, and time intensive to a moronic degree (missions taking an hour and ***, "failed"? sigh) I was a primary crafter in SWG pre nerf, and i loved it, a player driven eco was KING...bioware has stated they intend to shift to a player driven eco down the road, which i would love, but well see I'm holding out for the legacy system primary patch...if it has teeth, then ill see....if not *shrugs*, ill wait 6 months or so...im sure it will be free to play by then
  7. Think ill say no. Why?: 1. Crafting is just utter sh*t...other than biochem, there is zero advantage to take any craft up atm. Companion forced crafting with moronic wait times is also a silly thing (why can i not craft ON the spot, at a station, and let my companions do missions? so if friend 1 needs a mod, i can whip 1 out, and not tell him to wait 2 hours?). Crafted gear is sub par to every other gear option in every respect. Til this is fixed, and the game goes to a player driven eco (which the devs have stated they want to eventually happen)...this game is not worth it imo...thats 9/10 of my main issues 2. End game is boring as hell (pve, i cant comment on pvp as i dont do it) Dailies are spread all over hell and back, and the ones on ilum take too damn long (balmora ones are tolerable but just barely) 3. Overall game design holds from similar mmo's released over 5 years ago...too much following the wow mold and not taking a bit more chances...and whats there is imo a beta state.... a. Voice over as your strongest selling point is nice for leveling...worthless for end game (how many damn times do you want to hear the same convos over and over and over...yaaaaa) b. Companions are such an intregal part of leveling and dailies...but direct control over them is severly lacking...no go-to command, no intermediate controls other than "be totally passive" and "kill that!"...that to me is just...stupid. c. Tons of quality of life issues that went live that make zero sense...speeder scaling speed (i think mopeds go faster, cost less too), being forced to travel needlessly (you have a personal holocom! Wth do i need to keep backtracking! Cant i just CALL said person?) d. Patches seem to not be tested very well, as problems crop up for the fixes to the fixes for the fixes (as of the latest 1.1.3 all my animations are absent, buffing, healing...sigh) I WANT so bad to love this game...i really do...but i have 2 toons to 50 (bh and sorc) and im just...bored as soon as i log in... I'll hold out for the legacy system to be implemented, and hope its not just fluff, but im sure it will be (common, how many people would ***** if person 1 has a 28 legacy for example and combat advantages, vs person 2 with say a level of 4...cant immagine pvp complaints) So well see.
  8. Sad, (about how TOR is now) but i totally agree (with how it should be). Player driven means EVERYTHING is player made. (aka Galaxies, least how i remember it, i stopped playing after the "lets make classes and fu*k everything up!") If it were me, the ONLY thing that would be a drop from ops/flashpoints are crafting materials. Daily and Pvp comendations could also be used to buy said materials for non raiders. Guilds could obviously pool them to improve the guildmates. Pugs could roll and use/sell them. NOTHING would be npc sold, other than the possible crafting "helpers" (ie, white componets used: fluxes, frameworks, generic hilts, whatever) Until this becomes a reality, i have to side with Monoth, crafting is just a tackon at best atm. Which is sad, i came to TOR hoping for something not so...WOWish
  9. Same here...and gods crafting in the game blows...i guess it just boils down to the game...it is not fun...to be honest, it was not fun from day 1 IMO. 6-7 year old game design, a TROVE of missing features (how the fu*k did this ever get to retail in such a shape?) and as someone put it, themepark end game (i laughed, very appropriate!)...the grind and grind...just, yes, call me burned out from that. I'm sure alot is from WOW.. I've played wow for almost 5 years all told (including breaks here and there) and while it is grindy, for the vast part its POLISHED...and yes, years of being out will do that, the game gets refined. Coming into TOR, i expected at LEAST some basic features to be in game...Target of target? Macros? Guild features? (bank, levels, perks, etc) UI options/moveable frames? Ugh, i could go on and on...lets just say bioware has ALOT of work to do. I will stick around til the legacy system is out, to see if its anything but fluff. (im not counting on it...how *****y will people be if there are combat advantages from say a 25 legacy person vs a 10) If it is bullsh*t, then i will unsub as well. *shrugs*...maybe come back in 6-9 months (should be free to play by then )
  10. THIS^^ Galaxies crafting rewarded diligent, hard working crafters...the only mmo i know of (pre game change, i left when they made classes and it a twitch environment) that allowed you to be a PURE crafter...droid engineer, architect, doctor, etc. On top of that, the only system that allowed planting of harvestors...i so miss that. Galaxies crafting rewarded people through material research and through scanning and harvestor planting/re-planting. Be dilligent and patient, find the best tubers, well, your doc buffs can be sold for more than the average buffs... Was it "hard" or "complex"? Maybe to some...but then again, for those of us who excelled at it, we became premier crafters...and thus, when you bought a droid, or a new set of comp armor, or got a health/action/mind buff from a doctor, you lined the pocket of someone who traded, crafted and did business...you did the killing, others did the "making" Wow and honestly, Tor crafting, are a pale shade of Galaxies crafting. All it is now is click and your done (wow) or click and roll the dice (tor) and your done. Tor just adds another (annoying as hell imo) layer with RE, and excessive time sinks with npc crafting (why, can i not send companions on missions and craft myself?!?!). I like to be rewarded with work and persistence, but even i am put off by a system as RNG as RE. Ugh....so miss SWG crafting :/ I miss traveling on a speeder :csw_bike:that went faster than a broken moped (eyes Tor "speeders") to my reactors to get fuel...scanning for new deposits and strengths...
  11. Im sure this will be long winded but here goes.... As much as i would like crafting to be player driven, aka like it was in Galaxies, your wow clone model atm does not allow it. Raiding drops/turnins will always trump any crafted item atm, which to me, is sad. But, saying that, i am VERY much for a player driven eco atmosphere. For 1, To change this, you need to BALANCE (at the very least) some of the secondary collection type missions...ie: Why can i get bountiful/rich gains from Underworld Trading, but i can only get moderate/abundant missions with Treasure Hunting? This for me is a real ******, since there is no mob you can gain artiface crystals/mats from. Salvage can scavange droids and biochem can do the same with beast bodies...why can i not "scavange" defeated jedi/sith lightsabers? Nodes also need to be more balanced....ie: With archeology, there are a minimum of 5 nodes...power crystals, color crystals (3) and artifact With salvage there is only 1 node type...(not do mention the ability to salvage droids) How we get materials is going to directly affect supply/demand. For 2, this HORRIBLE system of reverse engineering needs to be totally changed... REing a green should yield a blue result 5% of the time Reing a blue should result in a purple result 10-15% of the time Reing a purple to artifact should happen 30% or higher of the time WHY you ask? because of the totally retarded time/material cost of crafting blue and above items (also affected by the very inconsistent returns of collection missions)...crafting 30 blue items and not having a single purple result is, shall we say, frustrating at the very least... This would A. give a larger player base that could create said items, thus allowing the market to be more competitive instead of totally 1 sided because someone got very very lucky. It would also B. make getting higher patterns alot easier for crafts with 10+ end items...ie, articafe and item mods...theres like 15 or so 400 skill mods!!!!! ive barely been able to do 2....this is just...ya, retarded. For 3 Allow DIRECT player crafting at vastly reduced time costs. Having a friend get a new drop and say, i can make him a new mod...well, 2 hours to make said mod seems rather...silly. A good analog to this is say, world of warcraft. Say you get a new tier set, and you need it gemed/enchanted....a guildie whips them out for you in a minute, bam, your back in the game. With this system...well lets say its just not working. ALLOW direct player crafts to be of VERY short time to create. I guess thats it for now...thanks for reading...i hope changes are coming, it will keep my interest in the game...as it is now, its just wow in space...with alot more waiting...and less optimized :/
  12. yes, and its getting very annoying, to the point i just ignore them. "oh, hey, khem wants to talk to me on my ship"...speeder to space port (why can you not quick travel to AT LEAST right outside your ships airlock...), get to ship...and he has nothing to say...ugh! This is particulary annoying since the game crashes once im back down on a planet and open the map...
  13. ^^ this...times 20... and please, include a countdown timer option? im supprised its not in already...knowing i have 10 seconds before i can use ability "x" again would be a thousand times more preferable (and faster, since you could tell at a glance) than seeing a shaded button...20% from ready? 30%? no idea, til you mouse over it (which is very moronic, especially in pvp) On track with ability delay, im very happy to see action being taken on (to me, as a healer) an issue which is GAME crippling...so, thank you :0
  14. +10 to this post, but for the exceptions... you say why raid to craft (which i totally agree with, i HATE that crap)..but then you add in.. ummmmm...contradiction? i personally was looking forward to even the cheesy grenades i could make with cybertech on my bh...til i found out each needs a F**KING bop item form a op or hm flashpoint...ya, great...a bop anyone can roll on aparently, regardless if they can use it or not...sigh i will say the last option (- schematics that need loads of BoP materials from daily crafting quests.) i wouldnt mind included....crafting dailies, for the sake of sanity and pure options, are a plus in my book.... but then again, why bother atm, if theres dailies for comendations for vendor stuff 10 times better than anything anyone can make... "sad panda face" i miss galaxies crafting so much
  15. this +10 all dual speccing does is add OPTIONS...and options are never a bad thing. dont want dual spec? fine, dont use it. most of us want it however...i was personally annoyed when i found out its not already in the game, since i did want to level my bh as a heal spec, but considering you dont get a tank companion til...meh, cant remember when i got torian...(wish you had an option to choose a starter companion)...its a no brainer to just do dps as a merc with mako healing. sorry, long winded...yes, give us dual spec....because ... OPTIONS ARE GOOD
