  1. They don't listen because their experience tells them that they will get beat up repeatly with no sight of progress. Who wants to lose all the time, when they don't have to? If this was their job, or profession, then they may summon the will to bear the pain, endure the hardship, improve themselves and pull through to make money; but it is not. This game is just one form of entertrainment and most people play it for fun and relaxation. People won't choose to get stressed from ranked PvP in a game, when there are so many other features in the game that are more fun and relaxing. This is what makes them casuals. Unless the ranked system changes to be more casual friendly, then casuals won't join and nothing will change. But the hardcores don't want the system to become casual friendly because then the PvP won't become competitive enough for them. So the hardcore ask for cross server instead. But cross server is not going to happen because BW won't commit so much resource for an improvement to a tiny pool of hardcores; the spending will be too high for too little return from a business perspective. Therefore, I dare to say that we are stuck in the current state forever for ranked PvP. So we may as well change the direction of PvP and implement more PvP features that attract casuals, like speeder racing.
  2. No way, commiting all the resources to implement cross server will kill the game faster. There are a lot more PvEers than PvPers in this game, and they need new ops and other fresh PvE contents from time to time to keep them playing.
  3. You can't respond because I am right. Since hardcore PvPers don't want to play with less skilled casuals in ranked, then we should just let the hardcores play by themselves in ranked and make more things for the majority to enjoy instead, which the casuals are the majority.
  4. I don't understand why is ranked arena rating such a big deal? Does a high ranked rating somehow gives you a satisfying illusion of self-given grandeur that infuses you with proud and lets you stand tall in front of digital pixels controlled by people whose face and real name you don't even know? There are so many things in this game to enjoy and warzones are just a small part of them all. If you want true hardcore PvP competition, then you would be playing BF4, LoL, SC2, or whatever built solely for PvP. For me, and I dare say many others, playing with friends and having a good time with them is more than enough, whether we are playing PvP, PvE, and or pewpewing with starships in a week.
  5. I've read many ideas on this forum that suggested to make ranked PvP easier to access and more friendly to casuals. But the "elite" PvPers always respond to those suggestions saying that, casuals have no place in competitive PvP and they should stay in regs, or only the hardcores should be rewarded in compeititve PvP. What this tells us is that the hardcore competitive PvPers don't want the barriers to entry for ranked to be lowered, and don't want to play with the casuals in ranked. So it is pointless to try to come up with ideas to attract more casuals to ranked, because the hardcores don't want them. We may as well spend more time making Huttball maps and adding other forms of PvP to the game. The hardcores will play within their tiny pool and show each other off, and the casuals will get to enjoy more forms of themepark rides. This is the best way to go.
  6. That is your opinion. Metrics have not show how successful GS will be yet, but it has proven that ranked PvP is not popular and less than 1% of the SWTOR population participates in ranked. Why did you think BW scrapped 8v8 ranked all together? What I or you think don't matter. When GS goes live, its participation stats will prove it is successful or not. You don't have hard data to prove that GS will "only appeal to a small subsection of people". But there is hard data to prove that ranked PvP "only appeal to a small subsection of people".
  7. Hardcore PvPers are like less than 1% of the SWTOR population. Statistics of ranked games participation proved that. When will you guys understand that you are the minority and therefore dont' get the priority?
  8. Money and "things of value" are included in some states' gambling law. While "things of value" is a general term and is opened to legal interpretations and can be argued, BW doesn't want to potentially open cans of worm for something trivial with little return.
  9. Actually, Pazaak can't be implemented due to some states' gambling law.
  10. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/05/02/bioware-force-pushes-back-against-swtor-doubters/ By lead designer Daniel Erickson: "There were two big lessons coming out of not just launch but beta testing that impacted development direction,” noted Erickson. “The first was that although we had not originally planned the game to be heavily PVP-focused, the ease of getting in and playing the Warzones combined with their fun design gave us the highest PvP participation of any modern triple-A MMO. At that point we turned a huge amount of our resources to PVP development, but we’re still playing a bit of catch-up, and that is understandably frustrating to our most advanced PVP users." The game was not designed and tested from the start as a PvP focused game. The current PvP features are implemented after beta testing because BW found that players like to PvP. While small improvements like warzone maps and queing system are easy to implement and can reasonably be done. Complex improvements like cross server ques and change the coding for the engine to handle massive open world PvP are nearly impossible at this point. Cross server ques and massive open world PvP are what hardcore PvPers are requesting, not what casual PvPers or the rest of the population is requesting. So unless hardcore SWTOR PvPers go from less than 1% to 90%. I doubt BW will ever commit to implementing cross server ques.
  11. We got a new Huttball map coming. Ranked WZ is not popular, so no one cares except the tiny pool of hardcore competitive PvPers. I think speeder racing will be a great new addition to PvP.
  12. Don't do it. His plan is to send level 55 Republic spies and have these spies que Solo Ranked during the times he specified. Then when the spies get into your games, they will either quit or not do anything to make you lose rating. If you agree to que and do not que because his spies try to ruin your rating, then he gets credits. A good win-win scheme, but even Darth Baras thinks it is flawed.
  13. It was stated in a very old interview released shortly after retail date 2 years ago. Let me see if I can dig it up. Now these I havn't seen. Can you find these videos on youtube somewhere to show me?
  14. Galactic Starfighter opened my mind to the idea that this game can have more than one type of PvP than just warzones. So I was thinking, now we have warzones, we have space PvP, what else can we have? How about speeder racing sponsor by the Hutt Cartel! The concept I have for SWTOR speeder racing is similar to Mario Kart I suppose, but in SWTOR style. We can purchase different speeder models, customize them with different engines, weapons, and other gadgets. Each race goes for 3 rounds, and each game has 8 players. The race is FFA, so there are no teams. Winner gets more credits and comms to trade for better speeder parts, losers get less. Players can use various equiped gadgets and weapons to help them win the race, like oil slick to slow the guy behind you, rocket booster to make you go faster for a short time, Grappling hook to grap the guy in front of you to pull closer in, missles to shoot the guy in front of you to damage his speeder, flamethrower to burn the guy next to you to damage his speeder, energy sheild to protect your speeder from weapon attacks, electric shock rods to ram the guy in front of you, repair probes to repair your speeder from being damaged... etc. All kinds of crazy things we can think of. In addition, there are traps in the race path lay down by the Hutts that racers have to avoid, like electric field that damages the speeder, gravity wells that snare you... ect. If you speeder takes too much damage and gets blown up sky high, you will automatically consider to be the last place in the current race. First one to blow up is 8th place, 2nd one to blow up is 7th... etc. You can build more armor and defensive gadgets into your speeder to help you stay alive longer, but that will compromise your speeder's speed and offense capabilities. So there is a lot of customization for your playstyle. Baron Deathmark can give funny commentary too during the race: "Ouch! Someone just got blown up to sky high!" I alway enjoy a racing game every so often. I think it will be fun. So what do you guys think?
  15. PvP was never the intended focus of this game from the start. The devs intended for this game to mainly focus on story and PvE during the early stages of game development. PvP was meant to be a mini-game. That is why the engine could not handle large scale open world PvP, because it was not designed and tested for it. That is why there is no cross server WZs from the start, because it was not designed and tested for it. PvP became popular because the game's combat mechanics and the ease to join a WZ and play. So the devs put some effort into PvP to make it better post-launch, as the stastics show that there is a fair amount of participation in WZs. But hardcore competitive PvP, AKA ranked WZs, were not popular, as the stastics show that there was little to no partiticpation. BW tried to do little things to improve it, like arenas. But they will never commit so much resource to make cross server just for ranked WZs, which is something that only a tiny pool of players participate. It doesn't make sense from a business perspective. They can't spend a lot for a little return. Warzones are just like the upcoming Galactic Starfighter, one of the many themepark rides that players can choose from. If there is a good amount of participation for GS, then BW may expand it with more map types or even mission style PvE. Only a very few players go harcore on one theme park ride.
  16. Warriors don't get a 4s stun like every other base class does, that is why they have more other stuff. Warriors are more susceptible to CC than everyone else because they are always at the front of the battle. If the stuns are lowered from 4s to 2.5s, then I don't mind if we lose some interrupts.
  17. What are you looking to focus on end game? PvP? PvE? What are your primary play hours? What class is your Trooper? Commando or Vanguard? There are a lot of Sentinels and Vanguards around, but Commandos are severely lacking.
  18. Are you into PvP, PvE, or a balance of both? I know a lot of guilds do internal FP and Ops runs all week long. Lowby FPs are run through by higher levels in the guilds, and 55 HM FPs are usually run back to back with guildmates only. So they don't pug much. If you are not in an active guild, you can feel lonely. But once you join an active guild, this server rocks.
  19. When you are pugging, you are more likely to lose to premades. Pugs vs pugs are pretty even. But you are with a premade, you are more likely to win against pugs. Premades vs premades are even too. So if you are solo pugging a lot, it is more likely for you to lose than win, simply because you are more likely to lose when fighting against premades. This is true everywhere and it is not specific to this server. That being said, there are more Imp premades than Rep premades on this server, simply because there are just a lot more Imp than Reps on the server. However, this does not mean Reps have a hard time winning. I was PvPing with my guild's premade last Monday morning for 4 hours straight and did not lose one game. In conclusion, join a guild and coordinate premades can increase chance of winning, but I think that is common sense. You are Fuse, right? I thought you are in a good PvP guild already.
  20. Dual Wield has always been superior than single blade. The Jedi is based on real life Samurai culture. And the greatest samurai of all time, Miyamoto Musashi, dual wields katana. Therefore, if the greatest Samurai ever lived proved that dual wield is superior, then he also proved that dual wield lightsabers is superior because Jedi is based on Samurai.
  21. I think the finale of the Jedi Knight story is supposed to make the player feel badas$ by telling that the Knight took on the Imperial capitial with only him and his crew. But it didn't feel that way when I went through it.
  22. Ya, I thought Jaesa had guts too when she first contacted my Sith Warrior and said that she wants to meet him alone in a starship to solve the conflict. Then I was very disappointed to find that she only contacted me because Norman Karr told her, to set up a trap in attempt to kill me with 2 Jedi Knights. She just does what others tell her to, as long as she feels that they are connected to her. Kira, on the other hand, takes no crap from anybody, and has the skills, cunning, and guts to take matters into her own hands. By our modern society's standards, Kira would be considered a much stronger woman than Jaesa.

    Patch 2.5

I am stilling trying to figure out the design intention for the weak self-healing talent on Saber Ward, a 3 min cooldown, at the top of the Annihilation tree.
  24. The game engine can't handle it. This is a dead horse.
  25. There won't be. Because BW won't commit so much resource for something that only a tiny pool of players participate. It doesn't make sense from a business perspective.
