  1. Unfortunetly, that's been part of every mmo that's ever been made back to, and including, the 90's. I agree, they are tiring to see but they quickly drop off the first page, so it's not too-too bad. :-/
  2. Agree completely and totally. It kills me that companies can't see past the vocial minority and still fall victum to said minorities most of the time. :-/
  3. You will not have to buy the game again, just use the same installation disk and account. Unfortunetly the game dose not have a native Mac client, so you will have to install it on one of the various "windows emulator" out there.
  4. Well, in that case either one of us could be glitched - I only say this because, offically, we don't know how it should be or how it's intended to be.
  5. That's what we're trying to get to the bottom of though. If it is a glitch, that's fine. I can't find it offically stated anywhere that we can not post without a subscription. The only people saying we can't are just normal posters, nothing offical. It could be a glitch in my case, and others that are posting - or - general consensus is incorrect and we can indeed post. We don't know the answer till someone offically lets us know. Given the two, I believe it is not a glitch, becasue if it was, it would be a huge security glitch if it wasn't intended. Given the number of times these boards have been upgraded, I don't see a glitch of that size slipping though the cracks.
  6. To me "Pay to win" I where someone benifits without having to put in the normal level of effort to get to the same level of achievment. Examples: 1) Though micro-transactions where someone can buy a buff, equipment, or anything else that gives them an edge in game over those of equal level. Why raid endgame when you can just drop $5 and buy the piece of equipment you would of raided for? 2) Though power leveling services. If it generally takes player "A" 3 weeks to get to max level but player "B" buys his levels and only puts in 1 week of time. To name but a few examples...
  7. What are you looking for in the way of evidence? I'll try to provide it. I'm posting without a subscrition or free days on my account and I don't have access to the game.
  8. There is a lot of.... "wish it was this way'.. "could be this way"... "should be this way"... "might be this way"... but not a lot of facts floating around. Fact, people without subscritpions are posting. By this I mean those with zero days left on their accounts, zero free days left and no access to the game anymore. What dose this tell us? Simple, people can post without a subscription, handled just like most other AAA mmos forums. Should it be one way or another is of course up for debate - fact remains though...
  9. I haven't bumped into one either. I have played quite a few mmos but I have not played WoW, Rift, Eve, FF series, Lineage and non of the Indy mmos out there.. Outside the ones I listed, I have not seen a single AAA MMO that locks people out of the forums. I could be mistaken.. but I have to ask others, what games lock people out? Sounds like a horrible company.
  10. Interesting you bring that up. As i mentioned i was preparing for being locked out and checked there.. On the 16th of the month it siad (0) zero days left though I still had access into the game till the 18th (the proper date). I'm only asking if there was an offical posting becasue, perhaps, they changed it back? I have no clue. :-/
  11. Interesting. Logged out and back in. I thought I'd be locked out last week and I was prepared for that to happen, but it was a nice surprise that I can still post. What games lock people out for not having a subscription? I can still log into the EQ2 boards and post as well and I haven't had an active account with Sony for over a year now. (note: before they went free to play) Is it offically posted someplace that we're locked out without a subscription?
  12. My free month ran out on the 18th, I have no access to the game.
  13. I'd report them and give any supporting evidence you can. It's the job of CS to sort out the report and take action if necessary. It's really is that simple.
  14. Though I wouldn't be upset about not being able to post without a subscription - the fact remains that I can indeed post without a subscription. Why do I continue to post? Because I still have a interest in the game, just not an interest in playing at the moment. I also like the art community and am glad i can still post over there and contribute with more 3d works.
  15. I don't know what everyone is talking about. I currently do not have a subscription to the game, I can not log into the game.... but I can post on the boards here. Though I have not tried every board, as I have only posted here and on the art forums.
  16. Though the rewarding of past, instant this, instant that, and instant gratification.... :-/
  17. Not sure if it still holds true... but i was watching a car show a few years back and a "high up" in Toyota stated that they sell 25% of their production line in the united states but 75% of their total profit also came form the united states... dosen't sound quite fair to me. :-/
  18. No game will topple WoW for a few easy reasons but to talk about one of the biggest reasons.... For a ton of people WoW was their first mmo and we all know "first" mmos are very difficult to leave or leave for any length of time. There are many reasons for this alone from comfort level, nostalgia, past investment in characters, online friends, ect... There will be people on those servers till the day their shut down. Steping back from WoW and looking at everquest (1), people are still playing that game even with the severely dated graphics. Even after the NGE hit SWG, people still played till the day the servers went down last December. WoW just has the biggest bubble of these people becasue it had the largest influx of new players over the years. There was also a dryspell of new mmos between 2004 and 2008 which helped solitify those new players. Aiming to topple WoW is a futile goal for the above alone.
  19. TOR is 32bit, and is constrained to 32bit memory limitations - even on a 64bit OS. This is why, if you are only running the game and the OS, you don't need more the 4GB of system memory. If you want to run multiple instances of the game or other background programs, then yeah, more memory the better. Price wise is a good argument though. If you can get 8GB or 12GB for only a little more then 4GB, then it is a good deal. To future-proof the purchase though, make sure it's a fast memory and not bottom of the berral.
  20. Thank you for the kind words. People submit requests and I try to bring them to "life" the best I can - perhaps he is an engineer? If he gets frustrated reparing something he can just turn the lightsaber "on" and whack it to pieces.
  21. ...... /sneaks back into the thread.... Shhhsss.. don't tell anyone but I can still post even though my subscription ended... Looks like I can stick around as long as I keep a low profile.
  22. Yup its annoying and a framerate killer. :-/
  23. Agreed completely.. 4GB is more then enough for now and if you can get to 8GB for just a coupble bucks more, that's great, but it remains a luxury. What others here are forgetting about is the limitations of memory in a 32bit environment. In Windows XP Pro (32bit) your total memory is limited to that of just over 3GB, so a total of 4GB is fine.... More importantally.. TOR is a 32bit application, period. Even if you are running the game in Windows 7 64bit, the game is still limited by the rules of a 32bit enviornment. you could cram 16 or 32GB of system memory in your Windows 7 computer and the game just would never, ever see it. So back to Azhrione's answer of 4GB being enough if the system and the game are only really the two things running on your computer. I personally only have 2GB system memory and the game still runs fine - but again I'm also running XP Pro and have it completely optimized. I also agree with computers being generational. The best bang for the buck at the moment is an i5 CPU (under $200), Cheap Asus or gigabyte mainboard (under $100), 4GB memory (roughly $20), and a GF260 (also under $80), and less then $100 for all the odds and ends, case, PSU, ect... and the game will run just fine for less then $500.. You could even save $100 by getting a wolfdale over a i5.. I still suggest buying cheap now and saving up for black friday (in november). I know that seems far out but it's worth the wait.
  24. If you are looking for a ~$80 video card, get a GeForce 260. This card maynot run the latest Directx but it is generations newer then the 7000s series of cards. The 260 is also a beast of a card and is the one I'm currently running. I have run the game on a 8600 card and only got between 5 and 15fps, with the card you're looking at even older, it will be less. The 260 is even faster then some 500 series cards (obviously not the higher cards in the series)..... and for the price, best card out there for those on a budget. Another thing to watch for is the herts of your CPU.. If you're only sticking with 2 cores, get something in the 3Ghz+ range. With more cores you can give up some herts but with only two cores, trust me, get 3Ghz+ if you can. I'm currently running: P4 3.2Ghz Wolfdale CPU (cost me ~$80), GF260 Video (also ~$80), 2GB memory (~$20), 1TB WD Black Hard Drive (varies but got mine for ~$80), Win XP Pro, Cheap ASUS mainboard- and I generally get between 40 and 75fps - the game is more then playable minus super heavy PvP but arena is fine. At this point get something cheap, when Black Friday comes around this November, huge discouts and savings. My 2 cents.
