  1. Why is no one saying Gunslingers are OP'd? 15800 hp gone in one shot? That's OP'd. On top of the various hacks and cheats running rampant in the pvp on TOR it's looking more like this class is the easy class to keep impatient children (literal as well as adults with a child's maturity level) interested without having to actually figure out how to effectively play your character. Oh, and the perpetual list of stuns, invincible buffs, etc. with no apparent cooldown. And no, this is not an issue of hitting a scoundrel when he has other teammates dropping ranged qq and dps in support, either.
  2. Actually it's about ppl who get angry because others want to play hard in a warzone that's probably lost. Many so-called pro gamers leave within one minute of a challenge or blame the other 7 for losing it and act entitled to be an a**hat because others still want to play the game, which I thought was the whole point. So yeah, in part this thread is about that.
  3. Glad to see this attitude verbalized from someone. I've been in too many warzones where a premade of "elites" come in talking crap and ordering everyone around and then, after the first minute of civil war, with each side having one turret and maybe losing the third initially to the other side in a close brawl, they quit saying everyone is beneath them and it's a waste of time, when if the entire group stayed we could still attain victory. Besides, I fail to see how this game can actually have "professional" TOR players. If you're somehow making any sort of a full or part time living as a gamer, you're here for fun like everyone else. I look at it as your company's industrial league softball or flag football teams. You know it's not the end of the world, but you want to be your best and not get the floor mopped up with you just the same.
  4. I'm glad there's going to a time penalty for bailing on warzones, Huttball included. Too many wannabe leets and ADD kids quit one minute in when it looks like it'll be a real fight. The thing is, "just roll another character" is saying "don't demand a better product for your dollar and pretend there's nothing wrong." Some same faction warzone action is necessary to mitigate faction imbalances, which are up to the player base. In a two-faction setting some sort of imbalance is going to be inevitable.
  5. I don't dislike Huttball itself, but I'm with the OP on this one and I get sick of it because I'm constantly funnelled into it. The warzone choices you get thrown into don't make Huttball come up as often as it used to, but it's still what I expect to come up 7 out of 10 times when I queue up.
  6. Right on. Fatman, however is showing heavy traffic even late on weeknights at times, so there I'm not so sure a general lack of population is the problem.
  7. Actually, the Imps could have those imposing numbers if they'd go to Ilum period and the people there would do more than just hang out for warzones. Thing is the Pubs seem to want it planetside more than the Imps do, and they experience the same issues with fps, lag, etc.
  8. The situation on Fatman's an odd one. There are more Imps definitely than Pubs, but it's the Imps that have no apparent interest in throwing down with the enemy planetside. Granted, the Republic players aren't exactly running thick as buffalo, but usually you can find a dozen or a few more looking for some violence. The Imps basically don't want to engage.
  9. I see what your'e saying there. PvP always means a little more with an objective your faction can get and I can get behind this notion. Plus the lag is an issue too. I don't get hit with lag that much on my connection, but if I do it's on Ilum. It's a bummer because I think if people said "FTW" I want open combat without carebear killtrades, etc. and showed it by engaging in combat on Ilum, the current trend of Bioware wanting to funnel all pvp into warzones only could change sooner and for the better. Plus, everyone can get their weeklies and dailies done a lot faster than grinding out in warzones-- if more people use the feature. I do agree about the lag issues just when it starts to get good.
  10. Actually if you read my original post, the question is about why *players* don't want to engage in open combat on Ilum and decide to just hang out in warzones. Once again, Bioware's pvp gameplan itself is a separate issue.
  11. ... is nearly everyone on the Fatman server going to Ilum to just hang out and go into warzones. We get valor for combat on Ilum and it's certainly more fun than warzones. Right now as I type this there's 20 people on Ilum. One of them is a guildmate who can't get anyone remotely interested in fighting any Pubs there. I'm posing this question because the most fun I've had in pvp was open world on Ilum and on other worlds as well. Why Bioware has no interest in anything other than shuffling everyone into warzones is a separate issue, I'm looking for fellow player feedback on why they either don't go to Ilum, or they choose to go, but just hang out and wait for the warzone queue. I'd like to see some Republic player perspectives too.
  12. I think the OP's idea isn't a bad one, but it won't change any of the issues about farming medals over getting the W, or the fact that carebears and other buffoons won't just leave a hutball game as soon as their team is down by one. I think it would be excellent to be able to see this information, especially with all the hacks, cheats and exploits that are rampantly being used in pvp.
  13. Open world pvp is the most fun, even without a loot drop, but an occasional random commendation drop for the planet the confrontation happens on would be cool. My problem is the obvious use of some cheats and hacks in light of the fact Bioware does have anticheating countermeasures on the shelf that haven't been implemented. Plus there's apparently no gm, because out of ten warzone matches, five of them will involve the following: Republic players able to plant the bomb while literally standing *inside* the door untouched. Players blinking out and reappearing clear across the field of play in Huttball. sub-lvl 10's oneshotting lvl 40+ players, as well as absorbing *all* damage while taking none, and inexplicable multiple uses of interrupts and stuns back to back to back without a cooldown. In the end it appears that there's no interest in policing this behavior at all. This is one major reason why I stopped playing Battlestar Galactica Online-- the implicit encouragement of using hacks and cheats.
  14. This is only my second MMO ever (I've never played World of Chatcraft) and while challenging I'm enjoying playing marauder. I've learned that with this class the best defense is a good offense. Also, I've been able to quest throughout the game, and as I've learned the ropes I don't die scores of times anymore questing. I haven't really since around lvl 20. Plus I've never taken Quinn out with me once. I usually toggle Vette and Jaesa.
  15. While I think the anger over lvl 50's actually able to *gasp* beat lower level players is misplaced, I gotta admit I wish there was more opportunity for pvp in contested zones. For example, a couple guildmates and I hopped on the jawa balloon on tatooine and ended up deep in republic territory and we saw exactly TWO republic players out in the field. I don't know if that's just an issue with players or the game itself, but we were expecting to be SWIMMING in pvp action that close to many republic mission areas. Still, outrage over not being able to beat players significantly higher or better equipped than you comes off to me dissatisfaction simply because it's actually hard. Go play a moneygrab game from Bigpoint if you want level and development of skills to mean very little. At the end of the day we all pay our monthly subscription and have the same resources at our disposal. That said, I just wish something could be done to get more players in the wide open areas of planets like tatooine so the potential of these wide open areas for pvp can be maximized for all.

    Marauder is OP

Sounds like someone was on the losing end with a marauder. lol! Didn't you look at the various classes before playing?

    n00bs take over

Well, given the game's newness in addition to my character's current level, I haven't run into that much pvp yet, but I look forward to more out in the field. One highlight was some nasty skirmishes between a squad of guildmates and I and some jedi on their speeders in the wastes of the dune sea a couple days ago. I always take the "I have no challenge" and "this game is too easy" posts on mmo forums with a grain of salt, or when needed a five lb. bag.
  18. I'm just wondering if you have the option to flip the hood up and down when your character gets a robe. I think my guy's ensemble looks pretty sweet, but I wouldn't mind the ability to individualize your character's dress more once you get the gear.
