  1. One of the issues I always had with the game was that there's no empty space. Every mob is for a quest and all mobs are spread out evenly across the entire zone, with no mob more than 5m-10m away from any other mob. That was one of the big issues for me.
  2. You mean the River of Souls opening event? Wasn't a bug so much as 800+ people in the same zone attacking the same mob at the same time causes some issues in any game.
  3. Rift gets tons of content updates, balance fixes (well, changes really), and bug fixes. Their major content updates, of which there have been 6 since launch, include hundreds of changes. Having said that, it's not a very good game. It's a shining example of how to design a game based on the psychology of addiction and operant conditioning. It's overflowing with repetitive, grind-based progression and endless special currencies. It is, at its core, a mind-numbing, soul-crushing, money-grubbing exercise in walking the line between "omg this is excruciating" and suicide. It's a better game than SWTOR.
  4. The biggest issue isn't pvp imbalance--it's the fact that you're taking your already small server populations and cutting them in half. Faction A can't talk to, group with, trade with, be guilded with, etc, Faction B. That more than anything kills these damn two faction games.
  5. Anyone know of any decent unofficial forums for SWTOR? Looking for something with a good amount of activity, but not so much that 30 replies are posted within two minutes of a post being made. (Also not a fan of using my game credentials to log in to forums, posting being disables during patches, forum violations resulting in in-game bans, etc etc.)
  6. Looked around Ilum some more tonight. No sign of the magenta (though I did find a datacron), and all the low levels I saw were simply botting chests (or actually running form chest to chest). At 4-6k per chest (more for the big one), I can see why they do it at lower levels.
  7. After 15 years of playing MMOs, I've found that reporting botters is a complete waste of time. Just poor design on Bioware's part to have chest spawns in safe spots. Hopefully they'll fix it
  8. Pretty sure it was always on my map (and I assume I could fly there). The lowest level I've seen on Ilum is 12.
  9. The white node is in the Jedi ruins, as a previous poster mentioned. I haven't gone looking for the magenta yet today, but I remember the general area I saw the crowd of low level imps: It was about mid center/north near some imp vehicles
  10. Best way to find the nodes is to look for the low level bots who stand and harvest them nonstop. Found the white pretty easy and I'm fairly sure I know where the magenta is--the same place I saw 3 level 16-24 imps standing around the other day.
  11. A good UI should be intuitive, which generally means things should work how you expect them to work (which is another way of saying the UI should function like it does in other games/programs). The SWTOR UI does this is most ways (To close a window you can click the X, which is in the upper right corner of the window; the "check all' button is an empty square above the check box column; health bars display horizontally, etc etc), but it lacks that second level of functionality more common to MMOs/gaming, which leads me to believe the UI designer may have been new to game interface design (or rushed). While I'm not a big fan of the aesthetics of the SWTOR interface (so...much...BLUE!!!!), that's the kind of thing that just comes down to personal preference. I know that the devs have already said they're working on some fixes like hotbar (sorry, "quickbar") scaling and fixing those godawful windows, they should really sit down and go through each window with some kind of focus group (testers, GMs, people who want to get away form their desks for a bit) and ask for input, but with a firm lead to avoid design-by-committee. Maybe I'll go through and make a real suggestion thread at some point after things settle down from launch (and if I get sufficiently motivated).
  12. Yes, especially when it looks exactly the same as the other 20 messages with the exception of the bit of green in the lower left corner. I'm a victim of bad design, pity me.
  13. Oh I'll definitely make that mistake again =P I'm not actually pissed about any of this--it's only 10k--but I do think its symptomatic of larger UI design issues with an otherwise brilliant and fun game.
  14. I don't have ADHD, I have OGWITDAADISHTPUTPOMAHSAAMB. (Oh God, Why In This Day And Age Do I Still Have To Pick Up The Proceeds Of My Auction House Sales At A Mail Box)
  15. I can't stand holiday (and by holiday I mean American and/or Christian holiday) events in MMOs. It's a gimmicky waste of dev time that involves nothing more than grinding for limited time fluff items (or special currency to buy said fluff items). I already have to suffer through this shiat in real life, why should I have to do it in game life too?
  16. I accidentally deleted an AH mail with 10k in it because I thought it was that stupid message that tells you you sold something and that you'll get the credits later. Really wish they'd get rid of that. Keep the one hour delay if you want (I'm sure there's a reason for it...right?), but get rid of the message telling you about the message you're gonna get. Oh, and putting the (too small) "Take all attachments from checked messages" button right next to the "Delete all checked messages" button with no confirmation window? Not a good idea either. This UI is nearly as bad as a console port like FFXIV or Skyrim, though in different ways.

  18. I saw multiple instances once on one of the starter worlds, but that's it. The servers that were opened for the official release are pretty much always going to be lower pop than pre-release servers.
  19. Now if only the spaceports weren't so big and empty and if only you could use speeders in all of them... They should add a fast travel option for your ship, assuming there isn't one already available at higher levels that wasn't in Beta.
  20. I love how, regardless of the product (gaming guide, timeshare, stock tips, whatever) they're all designed the same way. A single, super long scrolling page with tons of buzz words, check marks, exclamation points, bold red text, <blink> tags, etc etc. It's like announcing to the world that you're completely full of shiat, but people pay for the stuff anyways.
