  1. My main is also a Pyro merc. Leveling an Assault Commando (same thing) on a server that isn't dead with my brother who's the same spec. Sentinels and Marauders are no joke when played well. One of the toughest classes for me to solo if it came to it if they know what they are doing. The thing is, there are so many FOTM kids jumping on the bandwagon....there are plenty of bad sents/maras around that don't know how to use their cooldowns. So I can generally kite them long enough to get the kill. I would agree a Merc isn't as powerful in a straight up fight. But they are far from useless. My first suggestion would be to change out of the PVE hero tracer spam spec.
  2. Give that bum on the street $400 just because. Who cares if he refuses to get a job.
  3. Ignorance. It's what alot of society breeds. Just look at the most popular shows on TV. Half are full of people acting ignorant and stupid and getting paid for it. Sadly alot of people worship these kinds of people. It's like justifying idiots who talk on their cell phones in speaker mode like a walkie-talkie in crowded public areas...say a store. "oh but he pays his phone bill, pays taxes like everyone else...AND he's buying a candy bar...it's okay...let's all hear what his baby-mama has got to say". It's ignorant, inconsiderate, and rude. No different than not coming prepared to join a PVP match. You don't allow idiots in your dragon slaying raids with this gear right? Why is it automatically ok for PVP? Could be worse. I did a Novare Coast the other day and a guy had 11k hp. I inspected him He had: -No recruit gear -Most was late 30's to 40's greens And the best part? -His boots, chest, helm were all broken. 0 durability. That's blatant ignorance. But of course someone will probably come in defending this behavior too... EDIT: And for those who say "oh you have to make a premade if you don't like this behavior" Your argument is invalid til you can queue as a full 8 man premade. You cant control the 4 other derpsters that join with you.
  4. I never once said it was a perfect game. I literally said it has flaws and is beta. And isn't a "Jesus Game" everyone's been waiting for with a giant sigh of relief. I am simply stating, the way GW2 is shaping up to be it is catering more to my playstyle. I literally came into the game quite skeptical. I still am on a few areas. And BWE was alot more fun than I am currently having in SWTOR. And alot more fun than I expected. I just can't wait for another BWE. That is it
  5. I have been a staunch supporter of SWTOR until 1.2. Lots of broken promises and empty words. I play MMO's mainly to PVP and find a good group of people to PVP with. On my server, all the good friends I made are basically waiting for GW2. I tried to hold out and keep faith alive and all that BS. There's a guild on my server named "Diablo GW2 waiting club" or something along those lines. After playing the FIRST beta weekend, I must say I am now apart of this club. I could care less about SWTOR rated at this point. GW2 has its flaws, but it's beta. I am not expecting the "Jesus Game" just like 1.2 was supposed to be the "Jesus Patch" But the devs don't shun the PVP community or penalize you for pvping to level up. And are actually looking to base PVP around skill based combat instead of "lol stun stun oh you're dead". And LOL look at my gearz! They are actively listening to the community about valid concerns and really aren't putting alot of weight on derpy suggestions. Here's a quote from a GW2 dev in a thread asking for MORE CC with LONGER durations: "Our CC tends to be shorter in duration because long durations are simply not fun for people who get hit with them and end up stunlocked till dead. On the other hand, almost every profession has access to at least some form of CC between stuns, knockdowns, knockbacks, chills, etc. Everyone will need to learn that one of the keys to GW2 combat is WHEN to use your CC, and not just hit it as soon as you engage so you can roflstomp the target. Trust me, knockbacks used on people ressing can turn entire fights." Instead of creating a lazy and failed attempt and diminishing returns (resolve) they address the problem at it's core: the amount of CC itself and the durations. You have to make sacrifices somewhere in your skill layout if you want alot of control. I like this. TL;DR I am part of the GW2 waiting club after the beta weekend. They are getting pvp and don't have EA telling them what to do around every corner. I could care less about when SWTOR rateds come.
  6. Funny, I always thought failed MMO's were responsible for failed MMO's. Don't blame a group of PVP'ers that want to be competitive for a developers shortcomings and arrogance. Oh and because I work odd hours I generally solo queue. Doesn't ruin my experience
  7. My main has been a pyro merc forever. Just as 1.2 dropped I switched over to my sniper because the merc is just boring to me. I love huttball on either of those classes. It's an amazing map that promotes teamwork. This thread really should be about "get rid of bads that don't understand huttball" Seriously...if you see them setting up for a pass in the beginning, my job is to do what I can to slow down and/or destroy the people they are going to be passing to beforehand. If I don't kill the person, I sure can slow them down or weaken them enough for the rest of my team. Don't derp it up and stand in the in zone when they can easily jump to you. CC at the right time, not just CC cuz you can use it while needlessly filling resolve bars. Control the middle. If they have their forces all in your in zone and are going to cap no matter what...just control mid and shift the flow of the game to your favor. When you see your team focusing their carrier....find their healer and cc/interrupt them. Those few seconds of no heals can mean the game. It's not that hard to figure out. I've seen a balanced premade beat a so called "Favored huttball class" premade on numerous occasions simply by outplaying them and working as a team better.
  8. I am pretty sure the audio department has quite little to do with the department that is behings x server queues and server transfers
  9. When my sniper had 2 pieces of cent gear (before 1.2) and was lethality I could put out 300k in most warzones and had about 4-5 deaths max. Again this was pre-1.2 so most warzones were indeed huttball. It wasn't that hard. Hell I rolled a gunslinger to 30 and hit over 300k as dirty fighting (lethality) And no, I wasn't simply ignored. People would see 13k health and go OHH OHH MINE! It's about how you position yourself and knowing when to cc and run back into a group of friendlies.
  10. My first 50 was a marauder (carnage way before 1.1) and second was a lethality sniper I swapped to MM on my sniper and PVP'd it up with him cuz I got bored of the other classes I have. Then BAM "hey you guiz getz buffz" and I'm lovin it
  11. No it really isn't. It can have some downtime before you get Lokin, but no If you cant figure out when to aoe/kite/los at the right time then yes it is difficult.
  12. I like it. The old ambush sounded too pew pewish. This one sounds like a quick crack of a super high speed shot
  13. On a squishy like an op or a sorcery without bubble up I can do this on my sniper if I pop everything and magically critical hit with every attack. Its rare to have all crits but I've had it happen. Btw what happened to all the "omgwtf sniper buffs snipers are op" threads lol
  14. I've done pt pyro and my mm sniper. The target just melts
  15. I haven't been on my marauder in over a month honestly. Been having fun on my sniper and madness assassin. I was just making a joke
  16. Gunna be honest, this thread and the new ability in 1.2 to pull everything out of my pvp gear really gave me ideas. Especially Superpeanuts because I totally forgot about that helm and chest (have em on my marauder who I haven't played in forever). http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/7/screenshot2012042406324.jpg/ And now Kaptain has the helm haha. It just looks good. I imagine this is what an imperial sniper would look like in the movies perched from afar supplying cover for storm troopers in the movies. /endnerdgasm
  17. Crisis averted, thank you Bioware Yours truly, Marauders and Sentinals
  18. You took the word outa my mouth
  19. I didn't read the notes before logging in. I got a pop and was like "wow these guys seem squishier" with my ambush and series of shots hitting harder. Crazy thing is I was bored of lethality a few days ago and swapped to MM, I think I am stickin this time.
  20. The top is the slave dancer's top from the security key vendor. Only ladies can wear it.
  21. I made a sniper because the playstyle appealed to me more. I already had a stealthy-stabby glowstick operator anyways. I suck at healing, so Pew Pew sniper was for me. After getting my BH to war hero (gotta change my sig) I am now bringing my sniper up to par with PVP gear. Some say the cover system is borked and a hindrance. I really enjoy it. I think it could use some tweaks (entrench atm can bug out to where you can be CC'd at times right now). Other than that it's amazing to me. Best part is, there is almost never another sniper or gunslinger around so marauders and juggs sit there all confused cuz they can't jump to you. All the while you rip into them. Reminds me of how tracer/gravround spammers act when you interrupt them.
  22. Fair warning this will be a little long, but hopefully spread out to be easier to read: It really bridge the gear gap you have for pvp at 50 so it wasn't such a headache. Which is awesome for someone who pvp's 95% of the time and has alt-itis. You would scoff at and not allow a fully pvp geared person in a hardmode or nightmare mode operation right? It would hinder the rest of the raid and everyone would have to pick up that person's slack right? You would tell that PVP'er to run some hardmodes and work up the gear progression right? Otherwise you wouldn't want them to join you downing scripted content right? Why make everyone else's life harder when you can just pick someone else? It's a double edged sword my friend. You walk into a warzone and expect everyone to embrace your defiant carebear ways? Let alone be a healer? Healers on my server get marked instantly and get the pain train on them. Even PuG's on my server do that. What you are doing is making everyone's job harder, including yours. The tank guarding you is taking alot more damage per hit. Making you heal him AND yourself alot more than is needed. Making your "OMGZ BIG NUMBURRRZZ" healing ineffective to the rest of the team. All you need is to be interrupted and CC'd properly and even with a tank you will go down fast. The difference between the two is you get to pick and choose who goes off with you into Lala PVE land. In a warzone, we're stuck with the dragon slayer who thinks he knows better than everyone else. Who won't shell out 350k on something to make him competitive. (which is alot easier to get with PVE dailies than warzone rewards) Who then gets trained by anyone who realizes "hey he's squishy". Then, said dragon slayer comes to the forums crying about getting owned in 1 second. Crying about how PVP is broken. But since they "know better" they are defiant to the end and will ignore all reasonable avenues on how to fix his said PVP problem. Can't you see why some people would be upset at the PVE guy that came unprepared? Just as you would be upset at the PVP guy that comes unprepared? But again, you have the choice to say no. A PVP-er is stuck with the ball n chain dragging the team down. Tid-bit's from a Georg Zoeller quote: "(a) Expertise difference between combatants is the single most important factor in time to kill in PvP." and "TL;DR: Expertise is a lot more valuable than any other stat in PvP. Recruit gear easily beats Columi for PvP" It is post 39 in the link below: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=4066157#edit4066157
  23. I believe it's a world drop. I got the same helm on my marauder off of Belsavis. Looked so awesome I kept it. So glad I did so I could find out what it was! Veteran Elder Blade's headgear. Looks awesome along with the Veteran Elder Blade's Chest Edit: You can get the helm with hoth commendations (its a marauder set). I am finding the set pieces (minus the legs) to transfer over my pvp mods. Gloves can be found off a boss in Hoth. Chest can be found off a Belsavis world drop (champ guarding the 4 endurance datacron). Just search it on torhead.com
  24. I don't think this has anything to do with the problem at all. I normally play Lethality, but swapped to MM for some fun today. I love both specs. As lethality, I never had a problem with entrench. MM, I would get knocked out of entrench alot. I haven't played my sniper much lately til the most recent patch adjusting the warzone rewards. I went from popping entrench on a squishy assassin who was 1/2 health and going "oh ya he's dead" to "wait what....what....It's gone after 5 seconds!" because I was stunned and locked down.
  25. That isn't much of a bounty hunter problem really since the only class that can counter that w/o their resolve bar being white is a sniper/gunslinger while in cover/entrench. It sucks for all the other classes. All you can do is either ride that out or stun/knockback and run to a group of friends. Either way we all feel your pain there. I absolutely hate it when I get a jugg jumping then knocking me back then jumping again. Especially if they are spec'd for the CC immunity after they hop on you. Marauders? Knock em away or stun em and run to a group of friendlies. if there aren't any around, hopefully LOS them to where they cant hop on you again and hopefully they target someone else.
