  1. I'm on Bao Dur, never seen one either, so didnt know where to pitch it. Still... I may yet roll a BH. I like pew pew.
  2. I read orange belts are pretty rare. I got an orange belt for BH, just wondering, are they really THAT rare? IDK wether to keep it for a possible alt, or GTN it. If i do GTN it, any ideas on a price? I have never seen one for comparison. Thanks.
  3. I kindof agree with the OP. I like the whole idea with datacrons, although I think its been badly implemented. I wouldnt mind having some of the datacrons require a bit of platforming, but it would be good to of had / have in future updates a bit more variety. Something like a treasure hunt, puzzle. Maybe even give each crew skill a recipie to make a key to unlock a vault which contains a datacron. Heck, even as a mission reward after grinding killing X NPC's, or completing X number of quests on a certain planet. Maybe even more social based to encourage grouping. Seriously, just a bit of variety.
  4. Seriously, what do you expect? They're damned if they do, damned if they dont. Your complaining because the servers went down during the day. If they went down during the evening I'm sure more people would complain. I dare say the majority of players play evening and weekends. So those are the "peak" times they are trying to avoid. This is not some conspiracy. You wil not get xxx days free. Keep calm and carry on.
  5. my 3rd post in this thread, because it is simply, epic. OP, I saulte you!
  6. A little unfair. Sure its slowly dying off, nothing last forever. But back then those sub numbers were as impressive as wow at its peak. Kinda. I on the other hand, do wear rose tinted glasses. Fond, fond memories. Probably because I know deep down, that I will never re-live that again. If the progress makes the genre more popular - which it obviously has, then I'm for it. and I too, will hopefully be subbed for a long time.
  7. bumped to keep this on the first page. best. suggestion. ever.
  8. Excellent idea. It would really make rolling an alt worthwhile.
  9. Exactly. BW set out with goal of what every company has: to make money. To make money the game needs to be as popular as possible, so the game is designed with its target market (ie the biggest) in mind. You cant fault them for that!
  10. Probably not. But I have little to no interest in them. I'm a star wars fan, so this game would have to be pretty epicly terrible for me not to play it. I'm a lord of the rings fan, so likewise with LOTRO. And like I said, its just my opinion. Certain things I miss, and would of liked to of seen in this game. They aren't in, probably never will be, but I'm still here playing, and will be until a game comes along, in a theme I enjoy, that ticks a few more boxes for me.
  11. Couldnt be put any better. But still, after what everyone has said, this isnt a hardcore MMO. So a hardcore death penalty wouldnt be suitable here. Something a little less forgiving than it is now, just not back to the days of corpse runs etc.
  12. But the OP does. And some years ago, I did. He's not necessailry bashing this game... more of recent MMO's in general. MMO's have evolved massivley in the last 10 or so years, and while the majority of it has improved the popularity of what was a relativley niche market, i think to a degree, part of what made them popular in the first place has been lost. Many of the features they had wouldnt be viable for todays gamers, or even old school gamers who grew tired of it. But imo, certain aspects of MMO's should go back to their roots, and, again IMO, the game(s) would be better for it.
  13. Its kinda difficult to sum up in an analogy like that. Person a would appreciate the water more because he's had to work harder for it. Person b would appreciate the tap more because its saved him the work. 2 different types of gamers. Those who enjoy the grind, and the end rewards given to them from their grind. Others dont have the time/patience for the grind, but want to enjoy the rewards. Its not a case of one being right or wrong. Some people play single player games from start to finish with godmode on. Whatever floats your boat. I am enjoying SWTOR. Yes its a themepark. Yes its not exactly how I'd like it to be. Yes I'm subbed and will be for quite some time. Theres plenty of things which NEED fixes, and plenty of things which MAY need fixes/tweaks. IMO the death penalty could do with looking at, but thats because of my gaming experiences over the years. Another gamer, with say, more wow-raid type experience, would probably want more end game content.
  14. You are pretty much right. The thing is, back in "the good old days" I was single, still had a job, a good social life etc, certainly not a nerd, but i managed to pile hours upon hours of gametime in a week. Maybe a little bit of a nerd. These days, with a wife and 2 kids, work, trying to get to the gym and play for my local sportsteam, I play maybe... 8 hours a week. I probably wouldnt be suited to that style of MMO now. Still, I think there must be some middle ground here somewhere. Somewhere between, write your life off for the next 12 months to get to max level and the "easy mode" mmorpg's we have now.
  15. Its the only starwars one. I dont like star trek. I like lord of the rings, so I play lotro. I like star wars, so i play swtor. I enjoyed the everquest theme, so when EQ next or whatever comes out, I'll give that a go. I choose which MMO to play because of what it is, I stay because I like it. Obviously this is a theme-park MMO. And I am enjoying it. But I would enjoy it more if it was more of a sandbox, with some classic MMORPG features. But thats true for the majority of MMO's these days, lotro included. I think players wanting more of a sandbox type mmo are in the minority. The wow generation generally speaking want things easier, quicker wrapped in a themepark package. Dev's are going to target the bigger market, obviously. You cant please everyone. Personally, I'd like a game with the MMO feautures of EQ and SWG, the player numbers of WOW, NPC interaction and graphics of Skyrim. But I enjoy this game, so I'll settle with what I've got for now
  16. Sure it costs to repair gear, which is a minor issue at present, but as you play more and more, and have a higher bankroll, you will get richer, and so even less of an issue. Im not a dev, I dont know what the answer is, I just know as it stands, IMO, the penalty is a joke. Even porting back to the main town would be something. Or possibly only being able to be rezzed by a PC. Then you know you have to go through the whole journey etc again. Makes you weigh up the risks better, and would encourage group play.
  17. Exactly. Its like changing the law for speeding. You get caught speeding, and the fine is £0.01, $0.01 or whatever. The fine is so pathetic, nobody would care if they get caught or not, so would speed as much as they wanted to. Likewise if the fine was £10,000, or $10,000, nobody would speed. You need something in the middle, but as it stands, its pretty pointless having death in PvE at all...
  18. Heck, I remember when levels used to count for something. My first time seeing a maxed level toon, i was like I knew the time, effort and commitment it took to get there. I saw level 50's days after early release, and I didnt even bat an eyelid. I remember seeing my first mount, my first FLYING mount, and thinking... one day. Everything is just far too quick/easy these days. Its not SWTOR, its this generation of wow "clones" as a whole. Still, things change. Some for better some for worse, but one things for certain, nostalgia wears rose tinted glasses.
  19. For the msot part, I agree with you. Death penalties especially. When I see a group mob I cant take out in SWTOR, I dont worry. I take one out, die, respawn, take another out, die, respawn take the last one out, job done. No corpse runs, no xp loss, no nothing. Dieing used to be a biggy in MMO's. They've been dumbed down so much, with hardly any death penalty, you may aswell remove death altogether.
  20. Would be great to see this kind of thing happen naturally... still awesome though
  21. Agreed, there are far more important things that need doing. I just seriously hope player housing, in one form or another, gets some love. For me, thats ships, but again, allot of that hangs on space combat/hanger improvements/changes. If they didnt improve those things, then apartments in Coruscant FTW.
  22. Probably. I'd hate to see player housing turn out to be, buy a house, pay a sub and nothing more. And the fact that you know every player has the same ship as you just kinda takes the shine off having your own ship...
