  1. Coming to your Cartel Market soon.... Seriously, this game revolves around the CM atm, story updates are like..... yeah, maybe. I hate the way this game is going. Can't see myself endorsing this franchise for very much longer.
  2. Yes, the balance will be 95% CM to 5% in-game *snorts*. That Hickman guy..... I kind of begin to realize why people thought he would be the one to ruin this game. He already does.
  3. I'd be down with an optional change to romance content, but seeing the current scarcity of any story updates or lack of willingness to make this game interesting for story players/RPGers, I'm not sure we'll be getting any romance updates anytime soon. They're losing me right now.
  4. 1000 x this. Underwhelmed by all of this. Guess I will be going F2P instead of subbing, because day by day it seems STWOR loses its appeal for me to spend any money on.
  5. *coughs* Where can I subscribe? Jk... Well, this whole tricking into a relationship thing... Smuggler guy has needed quite a few conversations to convince Risha he's not into her. Maybe that's a general problem with these romances. A bit annoying maybe, but no game breaker for me.
  6. True, this is the case now with a switch to F2P. But had the game been healthy in any way a year ago, they wouldn't have let half of the staff go and had never gone F2P in the first place. Anyways, we're off topic. Let's return to the topic of this thread, guys.
  7. I think my list of favorites would look like this. 1) Corso 2) Doc 3) Torian For some of the others, we need better customizations.
  8. To me, that's the only logical solution. Old companions were hinted at being "revised" for future content, the writers themselves talked about which companions would possibly work for SGR, and concluded that some do in their opinion, some possibly don't. All the rest is speculation at this point. Anyways, back on topic.
  9. Indeed. There's a difference between writing characters for fiction and writing characters for games. Characters in (RPG) games are "playable" which in itself means that a certain part or their personality is determined by the player through choices the player makes (dialogue wheel etc.) while in fiction there's no such thing. You can't just go and skip a paragraph. In fiction, a character is predetermined while in games, you'll have to give him/her different personality traits from the get-go, those the player can chose from. So when writers claim they can't make a character adapt to certain situations in different ways they're either dishonest with themselves or maybe should be writing fiction instead where no such thing is demanded. Kaidan is a good example. I played the mShep/Kaidan romance and there was never a doubt in my mind that this romance is working. I've read comments of other players though who said they envisioned Shep and Kaidan to be just buddies. Both of the factions are right because both of us played different versions of Kaidan, through the choices we made. I fully agree. I'm expection SGR romances to be implemented eventually. If they're not coming, flirts aren't gonna do it for me. True. I have read different numbers. I also read they needed around 2m subs to operate a healthy game so whatever the numbers exactly were, they were too low and continuously sinking, at least during the first few months.
  10. No topic for this thread, but my guess is the writers would have to treat a possible m/m romance between Iresso and a male Consular quite differently. The dynamics would change. What irritated me about the romance between Iresso and femConsular was that she seemed to act out of character most of the time in their private conversations, on the field she's this bad-*** character and on the ship with Iresso she seems to become this sweet hushed little girl that wants nothing more than to hook up and get married. Didn't fit my vision of her her. With a guy, this would have to be written differently. I've always thought dynamics between m/m, f/f and f/m are generally different, but I also think they don't necessarily differ so much as to render it impossible to make old companions that haven't 'outed' themselves yet (so to speak) SGR compatible in hindsight. There would have to be changes, yes, but it's still manageable.
  11. I don't know, but I think at this point talking about SGR in Makeb would probably be spoiling it, guessing that it's not a huge part of the expansion. So I can forgive them for it. I DO expect them to come forward with info though on how future (SGR) romance content in TOR will be handled. I do expect changes here to both OGR and SGR implementation (no idea why, just a hunch) so I'm looking forward to more info on that, guessing they won't give us any until Makeb has at least come out. I remember that quote, but still my expectation would be at least fade-to-black-plus, you know? Something a little more deep than that. But then again, it wouldn't be the first time I'm disappointed after having hung my expectations too high.
  12. TOR was reported to have sold 2 million copies of the game when it came out but went down to 200k-500k subs in the months after that. That's what I meant when I said 'tanked'. Without knowing anything more than you do about it, I'm thinking you may be a bit pessismistic here. We know there won't be full fledged romances coming with Makeb, but I do expect there'll be at least some meaningful flirts and not just cheap one-night-stands with a dancer in a night club (no offense, night club dancers). I may be wrong, but we'll see once the expansion is out.
  13. I would like to see Iresso as a m/m romance option, just to find out whether that would work for me. The romance with my femConsular felt really traditional, no ups and downs, they liked each other, they clicked, they started a romance. No drama, just the Jedi Code in the way, but secretly both being devoted to each other. In other words, it was a little boring. Maybe with a guy, the romance would end up being a little less cliché and more interesting. I do like Iresso as a character, I've said that before, but the romance with my JC was a little underwhelming.
  14. I don't doubt for a second DA3 will have SGR. I don't doubt the next ME will have SGR. What I really doubt is Bioware Austin understanding how exactly they messed things up and learning from that. Maybe they will but I'm just not sure about them being capable of that.
  15. Ooookay then. Another companion I'd really like to see as an option is Torian. He's the type of companion I'd roll an Imp for. And since I dislike playing Imps *cough*, this really means something.
  16. That's what I meant when I said "Employ the right people for the job." I don't think it's a daunting task to create characters that have multi-facetted sexual orientation or one that isn't pinpointed the first place, especially in a fantasy setting. I've created some and I am by no means a professional writer. You need to stretch your imagination a little and make it work, but it's not rocket science. DA2 pulled it off. ME3 pulled it off. They have creative precedents of how it can work in their own house. It doesn't really get any easier. Not saying that current writers aren't able to pull it off, some of them don't seem averse to opening up companions they've written to SGR or may have had SGR intentions for them from the start. It was a wilful decision of BW Austin to omitt SGR when the game started though and it's just showing that this has bitten them in the *** in hindsight, so much so they need the Human Rights Campaign now for advise on how to do things better in the future. TOR bombed anyway, due to many bad decisions that were made in the early days. If people had left the game over SGR back then, those same people will presumeably leave when Makeb comes, so saving SGR up until now hasn't really changed much in this respect. I still find it hard to believe that people would have been suprised, had SGR been in from the start, or feel duped, because EA/BW has a clear history on this. And seeing the same posters still lurking around General, those three or four that said they would leave if SGR were implemented, makes me think that much of their outrage was just hot air and no real substance. On the other side, we had people in favour of SGR actually leaving, due to their frustration over how this matter was handled. Many of the original posters in this thread have not been showing up for quite a while. I've thought of quitting over this and I've had my sub lapse over this. And depending on where they take things in the future I might still leave over this. Maybe some will come back, some might be turned off EA/BW games forever. That really depends on how EA/BW will handle such things in the future. That's gonna be interesting to watch.
  17. Reminds me of Corso's "I'm dying", or worse, "Really dying here." when I can't heal him up fast enough during a fight. Yeah, like, no pressure. Most of the times he doesn't die, because I know what I'm doing but to hear him actually say that makes me feel like I'm a terrible Smuggler for getting him into trouble all the time. Anyways, other than that he has the sweetest lines and his voice actor is amazing. I think had SGR options been in from the start, he would have been one of them. One can only hope they'll fix that, down the line.
  18. Well, I have a better solution for Bioware Austin. Next time you create a game with romances in them, don't make them OGR only. Win, win, doublewhammy win. Thanks a lot.
