Before someone takes a condescending tone about "play a fps " perhaps they should take a moment to realize that warzones/battlegrounds/ etc. are the result of a mmo company copying a fps model.
I don't do mmo's to develope a character, I do them for fun. I don't want to translate my consumerist, grindy real life into my entertainment space. I don't even understand why people like crafting. " hey want to go on an epic adventure?" " nah...I'd rather harvest nodes."
Seriously I think a study on this needs to be done. Why do some people consider consumerism and materialistic practices fun? I grind for a month so I can upgrade my 'green' refrigerator to a 'purple' one, why would I want to do that here if there isn't something entertaining to go along with the grind.
Pvp in warzones should be gearless to make it more competitive. Pvp in open world should not be.
Hell they should just do away with warzones period lets face it. A game with this model is hurt by warzones. No warzones and more contested areas. If a 50 wants to pvp on alderaan, bump them down to the Max acceptable level and let them have at it. Why would they do that? Because the map and gameplay is fun. If its fun they'll play it. Fun should be the goal.
Pvp in games like SWTOR, if it is to provide gear, should reward currency that's spent to purchase raid gear. And that should be random just like it is for the raiders.
The game needs leadership and it needs it fast. The pvp servers hold a lot of people and the pvp crowd. ( as a whole ) is just itching to see what 'the secret world' and guild wars 2 have to offer. That's not good for pve players as the pvp players dont ask for as much content as they do. If the pvp crowd ditches for other games that's less in the budget for new pve content.
Thats who I am as a customer. My plan is to use this game as a stop-gap until the secret world comes out. It has until then to charm me. I think if it did that'd be fine, I appreciate the scope BW is attempting. So I'm just trying to help
