  1. only relics while leveling up and if you are "grey" you will be stuck with ones useable several levels below you if at all. at end game it serves no purpose as gear has no such restrictions. there are two legacy unlocks I think but I just never use that stuff anyways. it was a good idea with a lot of potential but now is all but forgotten. perhaps in time it can be expanded upon. right now at level 55 it is meaningless to the majority of players.
  2. thought we just had a expansion not too long ago.
  3. a few tips on using the droid. move around about 15-20 meter or so after each red nothing in area outcome. when you hit a green move slightly in that direction with the back edge of the circle at yourself. keep moving this way and clicking to send it until you get it. note don't move but stay still after you send it out as your position when sent is the direction and sometimes doesn't change when you do. ie if you turn around after it was sent and it points in front of you it can really be behind which is the direction you originally were when summoned. if you still have problems get either the gsi seeker quest on makeb to find the makkin or the one on tatooine to find the eggs ( something ancient I think) both are available to each faction. when you see either of these on the ground move away from them and play around with the seeker droid some. I did this to get a feel for its range and pointing mechanics. hopefully this helps you and others some.
  4. I think it was done as a easy mode method of removing the easily obtainable set pieces bonuses. besides the sets are really ugly for most classes with much forum out cry as proof. the classic coms buy better modded gear too.
  5. you are correct and prove my point. mmos now days need in game mechanics to enforce loot etiquette. other mechanics like cross server lfd propagated and disallowed server community efforts of enforce which is how earlier mmos combated such issues. this is what bioware was hoping to be made but it just won't happen with its other game mechanics in place.
  6. now now he is just one of those pvpers who sits on fleet all day and doesn't have nor will ever have a use for any of the ops sugestions.
  7. this loot issue existed long before f2p went live. loot and other social etiquette is becoming more rare in mmos now days and devs need now to make in game mechanics to enforce such. the problem is players don't care and when there is no enforcement the situation only gets worse. placing them on ignore will and does work eventually. but it shouldn't be the only means of determent as you must first get "burned" by said player. that is totally unacceptable to myself and obviously many others such as the op.
  8. the escape pod was used in space mission so that you had to use it when your ship was destroyed or you would die. in beta it was changed to what it is now. there is a clicky to port you to all of the daily areas which was put in some time ago. what is needed though is for you to be able to go back to fleet which it currently does not do. travel in this game has always been a pain. qt, sprint and speeders have helped on the planets. quickly getting on them has always been the issue. since many class stories use the stations I don't see any fast travel options put in place until one has finished their story line though.
  9. i can understand why you are saying this. especially after you once played any of the other range classes first and then try the sentinel with their weak small range aoes. their play mechanic is very different than other classes in this and other mmos too. it is something that takes time to get used to. also leveling can be frustrating especially after playing a sage who can aoe non stop, crowd control anything, self heal and essentially play non stop at higher levels. sentinels are also more gear dependant than the other classes too. a updated main hand hilt is a must.
  10. i totally agree with you. if rift can have in their mmo a mechanic which wont flag you from a flagged player running in your aoe, then they can do such in this game. you can not heal/buff a flagged player of your faction. you can not damage a flagged player of the opposing faction if you have the mechanic turned on. forced flagging doesn't happen. the only drawback is when flagged players got into your hm group you had to wait the 5 mins for them to unflag. if not they don't get healed. the problem is this issue has been occurring for over a year. some minor fixes have been made but it is still here. there is little reason to have to watch out for players trying to do such to you. just the other night in ilum there were several of the opposing faction purposely flagging and killing players doing the pve quests. when players force flag you, report them for griefing. that is exactly what they are doing to you.
  11. originally i had a paragraph about timing in a rotation. you quickly learn this when going through your rotation. for most mmo players it is rather intuitive so i decided to leave it out and opted for brevity. i forgot how times have changed with the addon generation mmos now have. besides for optimal dps for the class you will be looking at your procs rather than the two weak dots you are fixated on applying. as a inqusitor or even a sage you only have 3 dots if speced fully in the third tree which you wont for pve end game as you will have force regen issues. so you need to only keep track of two dots in the hybrid spec. but again why would you want too? back to timing in your rotation. on a training dummy go through your rotation and notice when you have to reapply your dots. you should find out that you will have to reapply after so many abilities cast and then recast it. this is now part of your long rotation. also it is useful to know this as your procs will govern what you will cast and when. for any movement you just subtract from your rotation the moving times. with experience you will get rather good at this. it is all about timing. timing isn't just used in this mmo but rather most others out there now. sadly yourself isn't the only player that hasn't learned this as addons and one button rotation macros have really hurt players from learning such. neither are allowed in this game. i learned timing back in eq1 when we had 72 man raids. even in the 40, 24 and 20 man raids you just couldn't look at the boss's icons as they where flying all over the place. one mmo had a limit of 30 being shown at a time making it pointless to even look at it as they were constantly being added on and replaced off. we quickly learned timing as addons were not yet made. now for many of us addons are not needed. hopefully this is of some help.
  12. perhaps the new ewok companion's battle cry will be "your knee caps are mine" too.
  13. several nice ideas here. a few could be implemented right away while others would take great effort. a guild tithe would be nice to help save up for guild banks and to have turned on in ops for guild repair fund credits. such have been in other mmos for years.
  14. i too was disappointed at seeing the same items up for sale. the only reason i have to do this event is the ops. i guess it gives others a chance to catch up on the gear and faction though.
  15. best area is the level 50 daily area. the one where you have to take the transporter to. just make a circle around the republic daily quest area as it is full of nodes. also a few spawns just inside the daily places too. the only reason they sell now is because they are used to make dyes. before that color crystals were worthless.
  16. if you are looking at the mob for your spell icons to see when to cast what in your rotation you have larger issues in this game than the ui.
  17. it will backfire when that guild tries to recruit or actually need others for ops in the future. i have seen this happen in other mmos and made sure my guild has a blacklist of such players and guilds in this mmo too.
  18. more players are in this mmo for the story than those for the pvp. legacy system is even built around story lines as are the ops. in beta pvp was known to be terrible and with the current planet and other mechanics it still is. just keep it warfront only as it is and stop wasting resources on pvp. world pvp will never happen. factions are too far removed and outposts are not challenging enough to raid. the lag doesn't help much either. your pvp isn't terrible because of the story. it is terrible because of the inherent games mechanics which can not be easily fixed and the lag. as far as your story question i like to watch everyone of them the first time. some of them i could watch even more but too many players are bent on shaving 10-15 mins off a run. if you take the story out of this mmo, you leave it with absolutely NOTHING. many of us players who have been here since release know this. so does bioware/ea. apparently you don't though.
  19. i guess the new kids who plays these mmos now want to level up without killing stuff along with just being handed gear too.
  20. I had a hybrid heal spec for leveling which was just great. it was so long ago that I can't remember it but it didn't go really high in the healer tree. just to the dot heal i think. i had my tank companion draw aggro first and then just put the bubble and dot heal on him while i dpsed. stuff died fast, i had no force problems and both of us had full health. was really boring to level with as i could play almost non stop at higher levels. for hms you will want a field respect to go fully into heals or just go back and forth like i do. dps hybrid for dailies and healer for ops or hms when needed. i have both a 55 sage and inquisitor. they play exactly the same.
  21. I have learned over the years and from several mmos to NEVER again advertise I can make x item in chat. too many players just don't read your terms and get butt hurt when the item is crafted. I just craft for guildies and sell such on the gtn. I don't need the drama as I am here to relax and play a game. not deal with some player sitting on millions of credits thinking everything is negotiable.
  22. its not uncommon for guilds to remove accounts for inactivity in mmos. what I have done in those I had the authority to do is make a inactive guild member rank with absolutely no authorizations to guild bank and etc. what you can only do is speak in guild chat. that way if an account is sold or hacked there is no worry about theft. I then leave them in the guild. the typical inactive period is 30 days for most guilds fyi.
  23. I have both ts3 and vent. been using vent for years but ts3 for only the last three. in rift the guilds ts3 server was down so much we actually had a backup server bookmarked. vent was down only once in 8 years. currently my guild uses vent. both have the same quality of sound. I can use both equally at ease. what I found is ts3 is liked by egotistic gms who enjoy muting and moving members in and out of rooms. for that ts is really nice. ( I actually had a gm who enjoyed doing this) perhaps this game will someday have its own voice chat. with a lfd I am surprised players haven't been as vocal about it as they were for getting the lfd in the first place. I guess since wow doesn't have it such a feature is deemed as not needed.
  24. when no one uses it bioware will figure it out and change it.
