    Civil War has issues

I tend to disagree. Certainly it is a challenge to capture it if the enemy team is determined to keep it and two players could successfully keep it against attacking 3+ for a while but here is where it comes to strategy. For example if I am on the defending side and happen to be protecting the turret in question I will keep respawning and jumping on people with Storm+Explosive Surge as long as I can. Meanwhile my team would already be aware that this turret is under strong attack and should consider either sending reinforcements or taking the opponent's turret instead - i.e. bishop for a knight. Whether or not we will defend or attack depends on many factors - situation in the middle, enemy forces attacking, available allies in the vicinity (fast response team?) and number of protectors on the other side. This of course has to be decided at that very second and there is a risk of both losing the contested turret and not getting the hostile one. This is precisely what is making Alderaan fun - unless you are playing against a complete waste of a team and just faceroll through the map it requires perfect coordination, fast response times and good communication in your own team. You should always notify your teammates of incoming hostiles and their numbers and someone else should scout the remaining hostiles at the other side. Decisions have to be made on the run and mistakes corrected ASAP. If said transports did not exist the enemy team could dominate simply by class composition and/or firepower, but this way you can outsmart them. And vice versa, of course. Play smart and as a team and you have a chance to win even against an overwhelming opponent. TL;DR: Quick speeders add an additional strategic layer to the warzone. Removing them will make it both less interesting and more dependent on enemy team's gear/composition.
  2. Report him via a ticket then and let them investigate. Seen it myself a month ago but did not report then as thought I'm lagging or something at first. By the time I caught on we won 6:0 and the game was over. Luckily haven't seen it again ever since but will report whoever dares using it on our server no matter the side.
  3. I feel for you man. As incredible as it is to believe even I die sometimes. /thread
  4. 1) One way to cash them would be buying regular bags and selling/vendoring the item inside while using the medpacks/adrenals. A more creative way though since you enjoy PVP and will have tons of comms is getting weapons with expertise and harvesting the mods for your moddable armor. E.g. at level 46 you can have 200+ expertise by buying 46 weapons and replacing the mods on everything you wear. Oh and of course buy a full set of 40 gear. 2) I would assume because of the population imbalance on some servers causing Imps to roll in Hutball against each other over and over. Strangely enough in the last couple of weeks we've had a lost rep-rep matches on our server although Imps still zerg us on Ilum - they must be up to something -_-
  5. The most embarrassing thing I can think of is losing a door right behind me. Or losing a turret because I use my cc-breaker too early. I play the game since the beginning of November and consider these unforgivable rookie mistakes when I do them. Happens once in a blue moon but I will remember every single time and be ashamed over and over. A turret you can retake, sometimes even on your own thus making up for your mistake, but a door is forever lost Most hilariously embarrassing though would be accidentally switching target and realizing it 5-10 sec later Boy do I feel dumb sometimes.
  6. While we are an incredibly awesome class to play - if played correctly - I once again see descriptions of the sacred 31/31/31 build. Someday I will unlock it. Someday... Oh and the heals part is BS. We get a single little HOT and another one if specced full Tactics. Otherwise yeah, we can 1v1 pretty much every class and pretty much every class can 1v1 us. Depends a lot on who started first and who is actually controlling the avatar My 31/8/2 tank can do wonders when backed up with a good player, healer or not, but still is far from immortal or single-target DPS. A nice Tactics or Assault build on the other hand can burn through enemies but doesn't have Guard, Storm or the survivability. Etc. etc.
  7. What you 16k healthers don't realize is that by leaving in the beginning because of the 12k healthers you are spoiling it for us 20k healthers.
  8. What if... they remove the Daily/Weekly quests from the equation? Perhaps then all the leavers will **** from our game and let us play it as intended - for fun and practice. I sorta understand that you might want to leave if you join Alderaan and it is 300:100 for the imps although I must remind you that the only reason you're joining a game like that is because a like-minded individual left it. I still don't understand however why would so many people bother to play just for the dailies. It is interfering with the game of the rest of us.

    30wins 1 loss

Awww, does somebody need a hug?
  10. It seems that many people are only "having fun" when their team carries them to victory. It is the same PVP even in a losing game - either play for fun or don't bother at all. Not to mention that if you only want the valor and comms you have to stick around until the end anyway. People quitting at the first sign of trouble used to piss me off, but now rather entertain me - quite often we would turn the game around even if the imps got two turrets before us.
  11. And I DEMAND that our Blaster Rifles deflect lightsaber hits!!1 I mean come on, we can plate them in Mandalorian Iron which by canon is impenetrable with a lightsaber and therefore deflect its attacks! Stockstrike should also instakill because you are bashing the jedi with a 10kg heavy assault weapon straight in their circlet-wearing head. I mean come on! Also, Storm should have 10m AOE because we hit the target with such great force it sends a devastating sound wave around it!!1!eleven
  12. On a really bad day I need 5-6 games to get my three wins (when wins count, that is). I consider myself to be an average player - a reasonable one if you wish. Let's say I am really really unlucky so it would take maybe 10 games. But guess what? Even if I get my three wins in a row I will still play another 5-10 matches If you are not willing to do that why would you need the PVP gear anyway? If you desire the gear only for the stats just play hardmodes until you get a Columi set - it is better for PVE anyway.
  13. Yeah, that's curious, although I'm more worried about PVE than PVP. In PVP less surge for us means less surge for them Imps too, while a crit or two may save your group in a hardmode op. As per the "no one complaint part" - I actually kinda like this. Let me explain - if they start nerfing stuff around simply because people complain we'll all be playing Paintball Online. Just read the thread topics in this forum

    Vanguard Crisis

Meh, us 31/8/2 are doing great, thank you very much. This is a PVE build but I still feel how my survivability combined with the great tools at our disposal win matches. Harpoon + Storm FTW! Particularly the latter. If you don't like tanking and want to focus on PVP simply go Tactics or Assault or a hybrid. Seeing my numbers with a tanking build I would imagine that you'll be able to get them damage medals on top of your protection ones if numbers make you happy. Tbh it is not the damage that counts, nor the kills - it is contributing towards the common goal. If I have <150k damage and <25 kills in a game it usually means that I spent my time running around defending turrets, interrupting bomb planting and stopping a ball carrier or the opposite. The Vanguard is a very versatile class useful in all those situations.
  15. Dunno about classes, but majority of actual characters I see in game have lightsabres.

    Funny warzone wins.

We've all had our share of 600-0, 6-0 and 6:0. I find them amusing and they give me a chance to try to beat my personal medal record, etc. - but not more than that. My favorite games by far are the difficult ones. That moment when both teams are equally matched and you have to constantly work to the very last second in order to win the game - it can happen in all three zones, but I personally feel it the most on Alderaan - running between two turrets with an almost equal score past the 100s Every time we win a game like that - hell, even if we lose - I tell myself "This is why I queue for these warzones" As per good recent examples - 5-0 Alderaan, 4:4 Huttball (we had the ball), a Voidstar when we let them get to the last door in the first two minutes but then defended the last one till the end, went on to attack and won it.
  17. This is not an exploit, it is by design. I wasn't sure whether to use it or not in the beginning - even after clearly hearing "cheating is encouraged" each time around - but if it is not by design explain this: how come each time the goalie pulls someone the ball always goes to the nearest ally, even if the opponents' team is present and closer to the carrier? Every single time. Clearly there is intention in this mechanic. As per standing in the zone during the entire game - it is pretty pointless not because of medals or whatever but because it is actually not that easy to pull this move and you could be wasting your time, especially if the opponent knows you are there. Why? - The forcefield has to be down just in time to let me get out to grapple an opponent - I have about a minute to do so, otherwise it throws me out (dude above is correct, you can reset it but that I consider an exploit as the spawn zone has a timer for a reason) - The player has to be alone or at the very least stupid enough not to pass when seeing an enemy player on top. If they move as a group I should be extremely fast to target the proper carrier AND pull them in time before they score - And the hardest condition - the opponent's resolve has to be empty, or at least empty enough for me to be able to pull (e.g. purple, not white). And what happens when the ball carrier approaches? Everyone spams their stuns at them filling the resolve bar just before they get in range for me. I'd say this move works once every 5-10 times because of the above. If you are in a game and there is a vanguard/powertech camping the goal line all the time be happy that you play against 7 instead of 8 and win the game easier. You don't need to count on your resolve - simply passing works great against this move. Oh, that... It was so embarrassing
  18. I've read the posts above and my conclusion is that it really depends on the server. Prices vary week to week but this week a 340 UT mission sells for 30-35k, a 340 Slicing mission - for 35-40k and a 340 TH mission - 35-40k as well. The rest of them are not worth the trouble to sell imho, so I send them to guildies. In theory if I were to sell those I would make another 3-10k per mission (except for the Cybertech speeders and ship parts which drop like every second time and by now I have an entire cargo hold full of them - not sure why I keep them, will probably sell to NPC vendor anyway). I noticed that the 1930 and 2025 tier 5 missions have the best success rate, followed by the tier 6 ones and the rest of the tier 5 ones. Haven't taken the time to actually take the numbers down, but now at 50 I constantly have 5 companions running them. I also accidentally found out that 10k affection did increase my chances to get a green/blue credit box and a mission - ever since I saw Elara's results I bumped the other 4 as well. It costed me about 50-100k per companion - depending on their biggest interest - to buy enough rank 5 gifts to boost them to 10k but it was worth it. While before I would get an odd mission every now and again (since about the last beta build before they shut us down) now I fill two-three rows of my inventory during a gaming evening (about 6 hours in-game, I guess). Now, of course you don't get only 340 TH/UT, and the Slicing ones are more rare for me. You have your share of 300 ones and tons of Cybertech stuff - bikes and parts, pretty much worthless. But still I would get say 5 per evening on average and that could turn into pure profit of 120-150k if I sold them all. I don't and instead I sell the occasional mission to keep my wealth steadily growing while sending the rest to guildies. Alternatively, you could eliminate the middle man and get UT and/or TH yourself (on an alt, if necessary), and after a while instead of selling UT for 35k you'll be selling Mando Iron for 60k or whatever it is worth; same goes for the crystals or whatever TH missions get you. The actual price varies per server and affiliation but should be relevant to said server's economy. Obviously results will vary depending on your server trends at the present week and day (check the competition before selling anything at all, be familiar with the market!) but having that the lockboxes will pay for the mission cost with a small profit on top I don't think Slicing is half bad. On top of that you find lockboxes in the open world. Is this the best way to make money in game right now? Hell if I know, probably not. Maybe running UT for Mando Iron or selling Bioanalysis' Red Goo or some Scavenging stuff pays better than that. All I can say is that I've worn mostly purples off the market between levels 30-50, fully unlocked my inventory, got the two additional cargo holds to keep stuff in, have several t3 speeders and honestly have nothing else to buy in this game except for 1.5 mil vanity items, crafted stims and medpacks. And the creds keep pouring in.
  19. I leveled through PVP. Hit 50 yesterday and still haven't finished everything on Balmora (lvl36-ish content). To my advantage I started with 6 bags and got a single implant out of them. Then I did my 3-zones daily and got a champion chest in the 7th bag. Not too bad. I already had an exprtise mod in my rifle (stole it from a lvl46 lightsaber) and currently have 117 expertise. The other bonus is that I am valor 51 atm and will get to battlemaster relatively soon. I must say that the warzones are pretty much the same with the exception that I do less damage, a bit less kills and die faster. Also I cannot 1v1 pretty much everyone like I could in my 40's. Apart from that I am seeing pretty much the same game. People who do everything in their power to win. People who don't seem to care about objectives. People who shout pointless commands. People who shout useful commands. People who qq and quit much before the game is decided. People who encourage and stay even past the point we've already lost. People who are always on the run to save objectives. (Groups of) People who still fight in the first room while the enemy is attacking the third. We have all sorts. I need to stack a bit more expertise before I can be sure but this looks like the same game so far, only instead of level difference there is stat difference. I must say that I am disappointed to see how many 50's tanks on both sides have considerably less health than me, a newcomer. My conclusion is that some people don't pay attention to what they wear and are therefore at a disadvantage. I am waiting for more people to get properly dressed, then it will depend on skill and brains again.
  20. This. I queue solo 2/3 of the time and with guildies whenever I can. We have a TS server which some of us use. It definitely makes our life easier - but in no way makes us autowin or anything. If they allow everyone to simply say "inc mid" "coming to help left" or "no one is right and they are planting" without removing their fingers from the controls and losing valuable time. Yes, I can type fast, but the hostile I am fighting doesn't just wait politely for me to finish typing As per the other advantages you mention - class composition, synergy and gear: I am far from a great player but I pride myself in striving to adapt to every situation. Does it work 100% of the time? Of course not. But I learn, change tactics, regularly check our positions on the map and do not solo jump a group of 5 unless it is a tactical move. Do you need to know the people you play with in order to do that? Sure helps a bit, but you can do it in PUGs as well. I often hear people complaining "we don't have a healer" or "our healer sucks". Guess what - it happens a lot and you simply need to play smart. Your team could lose some games of course but my overall W/L ratio with PUGs is definitely above 50% - and not because I am awesome, but because there are usually at least 2-3 other players who have some experience and think before acting. As per the gear argument - well of course I will have better gear than some and worse gear than others because I played more and/or started earlier and/or been luckier. This doesn't mean you can't get exactly the same gear with time if you so wish.
  21. Vanguard is a awesome class to both PVP and PVE with - as long as you enjoy our particular playstile A tanking build (which I have for months now, ever since beta) is less effective than a DPS build in PVP due to Elemental and Internal damage bypassing or armor and shield. Having said that we generally have tons of health and can still resist or shield quite a lot of damage so we do have high survivability - even without the "bubbles" some other classes have. If you plan to focus on PVP I believe you will be better of with a Tactics-heavy or Assault-heavy or a hybrid build. Here are some examples: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#801hMhZMsr0RrfkdsZb.1 With this one you will use the High Energy Cell, Gut and Fire Pulse people, generally boost your overall damage, crits and have a permanent movement boost - which is perfect for us being a very mobile class. On top of that you get Hold the Line which is awesome in PVP. You also boost Ammo regen and get free Stockstrikes, which makes your Ammo management a lot easier. Your rotation could be (Blitz ->) Stockstrike -> Pulse Grenade -> Gut -> HIB -> Ion Pulse -> Hammer Shot -> Fire Pulse -> Stockstrike. You could replace Hammer Shot with a second Ion Pulse on say a low health target so that you finish them off, but generally using it does wonders for Ammo conservation. When you need just a little extra punch don't forget to use your Relics, Overcharge adrenals and Recharge Cells or Reserve Powercell when running out of Ammo. Your range for this build would be <10m from your opponents, always running around them - which makes you harder to hit anyway. In case you don't like that much running around you can try this one: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#801ZMsrZfhrbdhhrs.1 An assault build based around Plasma Cell, it gives you much more options at range and while I would advise against being stationary - ever - you could take breaks with it. It is similar to the build above in terms of Ammo management boost and favors HIB to Stockstrike. You would use Incendiary Round to your advantage and additionally boost your damage. Your ultimate would be Assault Plastique, but you could trade it in for Gut if you prefer that. These are of course just two examples, you should really customize your build to your own preference. Don't be afraid to respec and try our new things until you are happy with what you do. As a rule of a thumb I would advise you to construct your own build instead of taking for granted what random people on the Internet say The most important thing is to be comfortable with your particular skill rotation - just try to avoid contradicting talent or ones which you could only utilize in 0.01% of the situations. Edit: Oh, and don't forget to Guard people. It can turn the game if utilized properly under the right circumstances.
  22. Now I know! Reposting for truth in guild forums (with full credit and link, of course).
  23. People do that? Disgusting. AFK-ers are annoying. I agree with the dude above that a good team can deal 7v8 but often you are already in the worse team - no offense meant to anyone, first this is a game, not a job and second nobody has been born skilled and geared - it is a huge disadvantage and would probably lead to a loss. I realize there might be rl reasons for that but when I see someone set on autorun on Void to not get booted it really annoys me. As per quitters... a lot has been said already. I guess that if you don't want to play - better quit so that we can get someone else in your place. Often it is ridiculous - people quit at first sign of trouble and we still win - often with a huge difference in the score, too. "Pros" annoy me way more than quitters - you know, the people who spend half their time calling everyone an idiot and teaching us how to play, only to end up not contributing at all because they spend 5 minutes of the game typing. I do not mean the helpful people who would give presumable newbies a piece of advice or the Ops leader controlling the team (although this sometimes doesn't make sense either). I mean the a-hole who spent his entire time shouting insults at his teammates while a few of us were running like crazy interrupting bomb planting on both sides, saving teammates, etc. only to say "I wish I could clone myself" in the end. Right, like the world needs another loudmouth 22yo basement dweller "pro" with 20 Valor and the ego the size of Alderaan.
  24. Top medals =/= medal farming. Any class with guard can (should?) get at least 3 "free" medals - 2k, 5k and 10k protection in a single life. If you play well AND get lucky you also get the 50k prot one. So often you would see us on the top of the table by default. As a 46 tank-specced Vanguard in near-Champion gear and some clue of what am I doing I usually do 150-200k damage with ~35 kills, ~40k protection and get 7-10 medals. I must admit it is easier to get more comms for us but don't forget that we protect you at the cost of our own life. You must be smart who you protect - e.g. keeping the ball carrier or the healer alive contributes towards your team's victory. I don't want MVP votes for me - I get plenty of rewards already, and knowing that I played smart and well (objective-wise) gives me a much more rewarding feeling than a +1 from a random stranger would. As per the objectives I have of course noticed that at lower lever it is easier to farm people than to care about those. Still, I play for my team and would sometimes end up with e.g. 50k dmg/5k prot because I was guarding left with little to no attacks while the enemy was zerging the middle in Alderaan, or I was holding the enemy back on Voidstar while our team was rushing forward and taking the datacore in under 3 minutes (lol often Imps would swarm me 3-4v1 in the first/second room They of course get me after a while but this gives my team enough time to proceed further with little resistance). As per voting - someone doing their job 1st, top healer 2nd, guildies have priority but not mandatory - in this sea of mediocre players seeing someone playing smart always inspires me to vote for them. Still, often (at least once night) I would protect one door alone, the other 7 would fight at the other and the Imps would still plant - this pisses the hell out of me.
