  1. A long time ago in a galaxy far away there used to be PVP there PVP for the sake of PVP. Then people got to 50 and found out about the dailies and most of what we have is Ilum zerg and wz surfers I almost wish they make fighting there desirable again someday but tbh I'm afraid of the side effects - kill trading, etc.
  2. Easier with a vid, of course. The PVP area is in the center of the map, in the Jundland, close to the border with the Dune sea. Closest outpost is the one starting with "S" I think, that's the most western Rep outpost before entering the Dune sea. Get off the taxi and continue west through the town (as in going to the heroics north-west), and when there are no more buildings you will see a natural rock bridge leading south (left) and some random Sand People spawns. Follow the bridge and then turn west (right) after you cross it - after very little driving you will see the entrance to the PVP area - it has an arch of sorts on top of it and a lot of huge bones around the entrance.

    Wow lame.

Weren't you the guys who supposedly rolled 16 AC chars to 50 and then posted a thread to complain about each of them? Anyway, on topic: as a close-range spec who does have several 30m attacks I must say I enjoy distancing myself under certain circumstances and still doing damage. I do however lack some of the melee goodies such as the temp damage invulnerability, jumping on friendlies and longer stun/knockback. I quite happy though, I get other tools instead. I strongly agree however that us ranged have a real advantage in PVE. But if you want that for your raids why not simply roll a BH/Agent, leveling time is a joke

    Told to leave

Ya know, there was a point in January when after reading this forum like I do I started checking out my team's health and predicting the outcome of the game to myself. I would never say anything - that would be just rude and mean - but I thought I know better than them because I leveled through PVP and had Cent gear. Until I realized I was an idiot for even thinking that and that we would often win in a group with several of so called 12k-ers simjply because our actions made sense. 1st, even tanks need those 24k health in PVE, not in PVP. 2ng, skill > gear 3rd, some actual rational thinking and game awareness > skill + gear Of course there will be times when the enemy will happen to have a great class composition and will outgun you, but no team has any use for a 19k health 1500 aim 80% surge Assault Vanguard chasing random kills around the map (replace class and stats with any other good killing combination). People talk the funniest stuff in the ops chat. "But it is me chasing enemies and killing them winning the game!", they say. No, it is you not focusing your attention to the correct targets at the right place that is making it much harder for the rest of us, if not even lose the game. This is not a particular example, just a cumulative image I have of these players. What is worse, we will often win the game despite them, but they will top the chart because they were farming these pointless medals and proudly announce "You see, told you! I won the game and you're all noobs!"... /facepalm What I do is I make mental notes of such players and try to look after the door/turret they have decided to guard because I don't see why should the entire team lose because of them. It goes beyond someone's health or their medal count, too! I see a lot of "battlemasters" snobbishly discussing a player at say VR20 in a full Columi set. "Ugh! A PVE noob! Here! At this sanctuary of the true PVP heroes that us, the Ilum Farming Community are!". Give me a break... Someone's alt might not VR60 yet but this does not change the fact who is playing him. But even if it's their main and they have just discovered PVP for themselves - I would rather have a player with no expertise in a Slave Leia outfit actually stay near and interrupt every bomb planting than a VR80 in their shiny mod-corrected armor running circles around a crate chasing a self-recovering healer for two minutes. But I digress. TL;DR: Just ignore them, play for objectives but most importantly play for fun, not for someone's opinion of your gear. Accept sound advice and logic but also have your ******** filter on. Everyone is a Sun Tzu nowadays.
  5. The lockboxes from missions are actually quite profitable if you max out affection. I get a blue box with 4-8k credits every 10-15 missions and I believe I get more green than white ones which give me 2-3k each. Considering that the price to send one on a mission is 1135-2025 I think that's over 100% profit overall if you take your time to do the math. On top of that you have what the other people mentioned. At first I didn't bother running my 300 and 340 Slicing missions and instead GTN them for 40k until I found out that with max affection I will always get 1-2 purple lvl49 Augs, a blue credit box and sometimes another 340 mission. The Augs sell from 10k for Presence/Accuracy to 150-250k for Aim/Willpower, with the rest falling somewhere in between. Then you have the missions. UT and TH sell for about 30k a piece, rest for 10-15k if you bother to do it and the only thing no one wants is Investigation really. I used to sell UT/TH and send the rest to my guild as I had too much money anyway, but now even stopped selling those as Augs/boxes make me plenty of cash. If you want to be more involved you can get UT 400 on an alt and get about 5 Mando Iron with each mission, which sells for 10k a piece. On top of that you get Ciridium which is also expensive (or you give it to a Cybertech to get pyro grenades which are great for HM Ops adds). Prices of course may vary per server but unless it is completely abandoned you will be at a profit as they will be scaled accordingly. And on top of that you have the open world lockboxes which are free money. The only thing to remember is to get affection to 10k and run the missions in order 2025 -> 1930 -> 1485 -> 1415 -> 1135 -> everything else if you want. Tbh after so many complaints about Slicing I thought I might be just extremely lucky but a couple of guildies picked it up and they are getting the same results. You just have to be bothered to press N all the time, as someone suggested

    Best Imperial Kiter?

Tactics Vanguard. Assault Vanguard (Pyro PT) is more oriented towards mid-long range. Not sure how is the tree called for PT.
  7. Damage is fine. I am able to crit over 2.5 in shield spec (with relic and adrenal) and consistently hit for 1.2-1.5k I've tried Assault (Pyro) a few times (in my Supercommando gear so lots of defense and such) and critted 2.5 consistently. I usually have about 150k overall damage and went to 250+ without even trying and in the wrong gear. Looks like more than enough considering our AC and all the versatility we get (Harpoon, mobility, etc.) Haven't really tried Tactics as I tank in PVE almost every night but the DOTs look crazy + more mobility. I say we're fine.
  8. 4 drops since the change. That's like what, 4 weeklies and about 20 dailies when I exclude the drinking nights. I definitely like this system better, as I was finally able to buy the helm.

    Queue ops group

Wow I guess it just never occurred to anyone until now The current cap is by design in order to prevent games of 8-man premade vs an 8-man PUG. While I would love to see it gone - not to farm PUGs but simply to play with my more of my buddies every now and then not depending on the chance to be placed together - I doubt they will do it until they find a way to only queue premades against premades. We have to wait and see what will they introduce in March.
  10. Oh I see, thanks. So I guess I was constantly hitting the cap then but never noticed. I learn something new every day
  11. Are you sure? I'm pretty sure I hit VR50 in my forties. I can be wrong of course, never bothered to watch it.
  12. Nah, that's the elusive 31/31/31 build in action. Ya know, Assault Plastique -> Incendiary Round -> HIB -> Storm -> Gut -> Stockstrike -> some Commando's knockback -> Blitz = x.x Seriosuly though, I've gotten the 2.5 one a few times with relic and adrenal on my Shield spec in Supercommando armor. What if I spec assault, stack more Aim instead of End and wear a crit/surge armor? HIB ignores 60% of it so in theory it can maybe crit a fresh 50? Or not a HIB but an Assault Plastique? Just tninkin'.
  13. Easy, tiger. Just because someone happens to be on a PVE server it makes them a coward and a carebear? Or is it forbidden for PVE guilds to even dare play warzones? Also, since when is PVP in warzones ganking?
  14. Might not be his system. Open beta, beginning of november: no issues. After patch in late november - crash every two hours. The last patch before release fixed it. Dec 13th. I clean installed on my new SSD and played happily until the update in the end of the month. Horrid FPS and crashes. Resolved a couple of event log issues. Nogo. Reinstalled from a different media - nogo. Tried current, beta and older drivers - nogo. Twice deleted the game and redownloaded - nogo. Then after a certain patch everything was "magically" resolved. Feb 14th. Crash every 30 minutes after a month of stable performance. Lasted for a couple of hours. After the nth crash the launcher downloaded a tiny update and haven't crashed since. I am waiting for the next "stable" patch to roll out... What I want to point out is that this is the same system for over three months which runs certain builds perfectly well while others crash on it. Hardware is the same, Windows has been clean installed a few times, drivers are the same. Game patches start the issues and later game patches resolve them - how is this the system's fault
  15. Meh. Big impression -> healing -> guildies. But even so it is my vote and I'll vote the worst player if I want to. If it is false sense of accomplishment you want go "resque" stray cats off the street or something.

    Voidstar Speeder

I missed 20 seconds from a game last night due to the speeder - I got to the exit at 7:20 or so and it was just locked. This was right after it sent me into a losing game of Huttball and the deserter debuff threw me out by the time I loaded, got to the exit and hit the invisible wall. Very frustrating, even more so with all the quitters nowadays - I never leave a warzone and had no intention of leaving that one; as a matter of fact I wanted to try and help the team turn it around.
  17. What does ganking have to do with anything? If it happened in a warzone - well this is what happens in warzones. If it happened in Open world - unflag. As per why would they roll there - the majority of my guild voted for PVE as they didn't think they enjoy PVP. Things changed since then but we happen to be on a PVE server now. I am always flagged since day 1 - even though I didn't see any Imps until Shaddaa, of course - and I do enjoy the occasional skirmish while questing but I must say that it happens very rarely as the vast majority are not flagged.
  18. With the old system I got three Champ chestpieces and 5 implants in two weeks. Omgomg 8 items! Surely my companions are very happy with them. With the new system I get 4 bags from comms + 2 daily + 6 weekly = 24 bags per week without really trying and they give me 168 comms. So I can either buy a weapon, two major pieces and three+ minor pieces. I can also compensate with a centurion piece here and there. So at this rate I am full champion in what, three weeks? Assuming ALL I get is comms and we both know this is not the case.

    Pure Shockfrozen Water

Your heal specced Mara < my heal specced Vanguard. I am surprised - although mildly - by how many people are actually playing for medals. A couple of weeks ago we lost at Voidstar and a player started shouting "noobs" and the such after the first planting although the team effort on our side was pretty decent for over 3 minutes. When confronted about not guarding the door he was at he elaborated that it is killing enemies which wins the day foremost, and protecting objectives second. When confronted why would he go deep after a kill leaving the door unprotected for the planting (someone saw him do that) he began insulting that player and explained that "he already knew we are noobs so he decided to farm medals instead" and that "he obviously got the most kills and thus contributed to the team the most". Well we did lose and he did top the chart with having all the damage medals etc., but if he simply turned around and interrupted that one bomb planting we could have won the game and all of us get more comms, including him. Sounds like a generic example of the worst possible behavior but actually a true story. Some people are just ignorant and there's nothing we can do for them.
  20. Oops, my bad. It wasn't in the notes in the Test Server forum so I assumed it is a stealth fix like what they did to Slicing, etc. I will double check with the live notes from now on

    Pure Shockfrozen Water

Medals are kinda neat. Want them? Earn them
  22. I completely agree. It's about time us shield Vanguards get the damage and the healing medals. /sarcasm off Healers are kinda screwed thus we vote for them so that they get extra valor. If you don't like it just reroll. And if you don't like using Guard - just don't use it, respec to a DPS spec or something. I hate losing a match because of medal farmers >.<
  23. Hah, as usual someone just forgot to put important changes in the patch notes once more Well, let's see what the next interesting almost exploit would be
  24. Not a user myself because the item is obviously broken and I do not need 5s faster healing or artificial medals to perform well both gameplay and statistic-wise. I don't care that much about stealthers using it either because this is not winning games for them, our track record is still pretty good. They will fix removing the buff sooner or later and until then I would rather have the afk/quitter situation dealt with. I am however wondering - if the use of this item is fine and the German CM endorses it - why do mods keep deleting these threads? I know there are a few left but I've seen several disappear because I kept them open and refreshed for new comments. Would they persistently delete threads about the use of a perfectly legal item?
