    1.1 made huge improvements for me and my crusty old system, but I play on medium-ish settings

    HUGE improvement, I used to walk away from my pc while the game loaded, comes right up now!

    I have also noticed an improvement, especially in the load times when zoning into a planet. The change to the view of abilities is taking some getting used to, especially for proc based ones.

    I'm sure it was mentioned, but there is a speeder you can borrow there, also Nar Shaddaa was awesome!

    Games like this appeal to a much wider audience than something that is as traditionally RPGish as what you describe. That level of involvement isn't for everyone, but if you want it you can surely create it on your own within the game.
