  1. it's not 3 am in all places in the world just fYI incase you didn't know the world is round.
  2. just stating no trolls is like fishing with a baited line but saying no bites please!
  3. the only ones that really want it are the hardcore raid guilds that like to min/max every aspect so they kill something a few seconds faster.
  4. that is the point, crafting shouldn't be based completely on luck but skill lvl. Every other aspect of the game there is some way of improving your abilitity to do something whether it is defense, dps, etc but crafting there is not it is pure luck!
  5. no we don't want recount
  6. Another thing we can agree on also, is that there was no reason for another thread on this subject
  7. But who gets to say what fixes make sense to rush and apply the patch in a emergency situation such as a saturday? What may not make sense to you doesn't mean it will not make sense to someone else, just like today's patch for the freezes and lock up, some may say this didn't make sense but if you were one of those people that had the issue it definately makes sense in that case. YOu are right it does depend on the situation but everyone's situation is different from another! As far as downtime during a us weekday if it happens it happens, you will not see me complaining. I'm sure some will and maybe even some who tell you EU guys to live with it will too. Even so from past experiences the downtiems in SWTOR is nowhere near as bad as i've seen during launches. After another month or two when all the high priority issues get ironed out you will see these maintenance periods settle into a routine timeframe, this has been true for every MMO.
  8. it was never in the live version of the game, it was taken out before beta ended. Their specific reason was because the system made all the armor look the same and made players feel that they were not progressing gear wise through the lvl'ing proccess, not saying it was a good excuse or not but no conspiracy theory needs to come out of it regardless. There is a Dev article or post about this somewhere if you want to search for it.
  9. They took it out infavor of creating a new better version. They are working on it but i don't believe they have stated a time frame on when it will make it back in
  10. good point but even with seperate maintenance times for geographical locations they still will not make everyone happy, there will still be these posts on the forums complaining about it as there will still be people that play during the off hours of the downtime regardless of when it happens They are usually already shorter than the announced downtime schedules, in the IT world you always give yourself more time than you actually need. Sometimes with complex systems things happen that are out of your control so the extra time is to cover your butt. I work in the IT field for one of the largest school districts in the states and we do the exact same thing when something has to be taken down for maintence/upgrades/ or repairs. I've played mmo's since the late 90s and the industry standard is exactly what BW is using, very few mmos have serperate downtimes for the servers, most of them happen during the same time frames, and all of them have the exact same posts as here with people complaining about it. WOW is the only one off the top of my head that has seperate maintenance schedules but even they did not start doing so until a year or two after initial release. If it takes a saturday patch to fix something important than do it, there is no need to wait.
  11. you are forgetting though, that EA is officially releasing the product in australia in march or so, at that point your arguement above becomes a moot point.
  12. he already stated why, because he wants to free up the name to be resused not the character slot.
  13. so someone wants the FOTM plus another crew skill, why is this not surprising!
  14. SSD's usually don't help a MMO out too much from past experiences. They however do help pretty much any other application or game.
  15. what you people need to understand, a new mmo has more issues than most games that are releaseed, they are also mostly a payed subscription plan so when an issue arises that affects a good portion of that paying playerbase they need to act on it as soon as possible whether it is with a patch to fix bugs or exploits or emergency maintence etc. This is all the price we pay to play MMO's. We even agree to these terms when we click "I Agree" to the eula the first time you log into the game. I know people get ticked off about it, especially when the downtime interrupts their playing schedule for those that play during the off hours these downtiems occur at, but look at it in the other direction whether you agree they are fixing anything or not atleast they are actively supporting the game by working on the issues. I will probably get flamed and be called a fanboy for this because that is the only arguements that can be used to try to unjustify my point but it doesn't work as any intelligent person would understand it.
  16. want a free month for a planned downtimes? nope not going to ever happen.
  17. because like i said, MMO's are CPU bound, games like skyrim and bf3 are more GPU bound so you get better performance for that reason. WHen something is CPU bound that means it doesn't use the GPU as much. CPU now a days don't get much faster they just get more cores and most mmo's don't take advantage of those cores. Most single player games don't either but more and more them are now.
  18. those same sources probably state the tooth fairy is real also, or that the world is ending on this specific date.
  19. MMO's in general are CPU bound not GPU. and your FPS sounds about right for a 550 as i have a all in one pc that has a 550 and it gets the same. I use my gaming desktop though which now has a ATI 7970. Alot of performance gain would be gotten if BW ever codes the game to take good advantage of multiple cores
  20. wasn't even 200 mil, no one knows the only official number was 80+ million. Any other number we ever heard have come from third party sources not first party!
  21. who is he, and who cares of his thoughts? i do give him credit though atleast he posted a video and left it up to his subscribers to post on the forums unless you are really him!
  22. man thought i was coming into a thread about something more interesting considering the title!
  23. They will use any source regardless of source reputation to back up a personal view. The same is true for anything outside the internet also.
  24. i could have, but at the time of his posting there was another thread right on page 1 about the same issue. Search for it and you literally find 100's of others, so i felt my time was best educating op that search feature is now activated.
