I played WoW for six years as well, because there was nothing better available, which is the main reason most people remained subscribed for so long. When you've devoted six years of your life to characters in a video game, you tend to stay with them. I plan to be with SWTOR for the long haul, and wouldn't even consider going back to WoW.

This practice has become the norm among games in this industry these days, a direct result of three determining factors: (1) Parents are not raising kids with the same level of manners and respect that they once did, those values are no longer as important to some people as they once were (and should still be). (2) The anonymity provided by the internet. (3) The way this genre of gaming has transformed from a niche market to completely mainstream over the last eight years.
