  1. I said it was a rant. I've calmed down now. So, calm voice now, how is this any different than anything else on the Cartel Market? Please explain it to me, because my limited brain really doesn't understand. There are cosmetic items that are only available from the Cartel Market. Now there are cosmetic items that are only available by getting Cartel Market Rep (or whatever it is called) via the Cartel Market. I really don't see the difference. The only thing now is that it is a two-step process. So another serious question. If they put these exact same items for sale in the Cartel Market, would there be the same level of outrage? What if you could only get them randomly as a super rare in a Cartel pack? Same difference, isn't it?
  2. Normally I just lurk, but I had to respond to this and I have to say I'm appalled. I'm appalled at all of the idiocy that is being displayed by all of the "It's pay to win!" posters. Really? REALLY? Are you kidding me?! So I can pay money. Buy packs to grind Rep. Spend credits at a vendor... AND GET SOMETHING WITH NO STATS! I WIN! What??? What is wrong with you people??? Having a speeder with Chrismas lights on it is winning for me! Why can't I get the Griswald speeder without having to spend money? Oh, wait. I'm a subscriber. I get Cartel Coins every month. I CAN get the Griswald speeder. (Or I could have. Had I actually wanted it.) I do buy things off the Cartel Market. I spend the stipend I get every month for being a Subscriber. Just bought an armor set after saving up for 3 months. Yep, I am getting so screwed. /rant
  3. Okay, I see your point. But really what we are now talking about is a matter of degrees. They made it a little too hard to get even one item in the time it takes one event to run. It sounds like that was a mistake. That doesn't seem to justify the amount of nerd rage that is being thrown around in this thread. Again, by the time the second event rolls around everyone here that is throwing a fit will be able to earn their items and they will be happy. That said some indication of WHEN the next event will occur may be in order.
  4. I think Bioware is right on this one. It seems to me that all of the complaining is because people feel they should be able to achieve the final reward in the very first instance of a repeating event. Why? It is a repeating event! The whole point is that you have some reason to play it again when it comes back. If you were able to finish everything in the first two weeks why would it even need to repeat!? I think this is a case were people claim they know what they want, but if they actually got it they would just start complaining about how everything is too easy and "There's not enough to work for! I got everything in the first try!" complaint threads. Bottom line, by the time the event rolls around for the 2nd or 3rd time everyone here will have everything they want and will stop complaining and someone like me will still be taking my sweet time grinding the rep.
  5. You know what? I am perfectly okay with a couple of one-use items for Valentine's Day in the cartel shop. It allows some people that want to spend a few cents (probably less that $.20 each?) to have some out-of-character fun and after Valentine's Day they will go away. At least we won't be seeing pink speeders covered in hearts driving around in July! Unlike the Griswald Christmas speeder which I totally hate! So a new pack... Some new (kinda) cosmetic items... I am not seeing the problem here. This is exactly what should be offered in the Cartel Shop. Except that I totally agree that they should add some services. Name change, server transfer, appearance change, etc. They are totally missing out on a revenue stream the longer they go without these!
  6. I wanted to reply since I was one of the first to suggest that an apology might be in order. Thank you for correcting that, apology accepted. As predicted some people were not appreciative, but all you can do is the right thing and hope that other people do the right thing as well. If possible I would still be interested in more information on what happened. If you can not give details for some reason, like not wanting to reveal an exploit, I would understand (although I am sure that there are many people that wouldn't). If it is because of misguided management decisions, like never wanting to admit a mistake, then you have my sympathy. Edit: I went back and noticed that you added more information in your original post as well as the apology. Even better. P.S. I was going to edit my sig, but after reading this thread I feel it may still be warranted for a while longer.
  7. How about a little more information? What servers were effected? When is the effected time period? Was everyone who played during this time effected, or just some? Will only Cartel Coins be reimbursed? Granted that Cartel Coins are probably the most important as they represent real money, but everything else lost does represent real time and effort spent. If something can not be restored, I personally would understand, but I can also understand that others would be upset. So a "We are sorry" statement is probably called for, even if unreasonable people won't believe it.
  8. I believe I am with the majority that do not like this development. Nothing in the Cartel Market should be best in slot or best of type above anything that can be obtained in the game without spending real money. If this is now the best speeder in the game there should be a way to obtain it, or something equivalent, in game for credits or as a reward. (And it should be a reasonably obtainable goal, not something ridiculous like one billion credits or solo an Operation end boss.) I was not happy with the level 7 ship parts in the cartel market, but at least you can earn them in game.
  9. You know you can over level a quest or planet and still play it anyway, right? And as a bonus, you get almost no XP for it! It's Win/WIn! Seriously though, that's what I do with my main. I do everything and am usually 3 or 4 levels over the content when I finish a planet. Then I go to the next planet, get a couple levels and the XP slows down again. If I wanted I could skip, but I don't want to. So I don't. With Alts I skip planetary quests or other side quests and usually skip all bonus series. Still manage to be leveled right for the content. This really is easy stuff.
  10. Disagree. I love the modable system. I keep every piece of modable armor I get. The more I get, the more options I have to mix and match. The cost of moving mods is fairly trivial. Of course I make extensive use of the preview window to make sure I have the look I want before I make any changes. The other system I am familiar with is WoW's transmogrification system. It works, it is kinda cool, but I think the mod system fits Star Wars better.
  11. They never said the price would be going up. You were only buying 5 days of early access.
  12. Sure. I organized my WoW characters by level. Highest level on top. I remember when they added that ability a year or two ago. Yet one more feature that took Blizzard years to implement, but people now expect that all MMOs have on release.
  13. This thread is hilarious! Now, I fully understand and support that you have your own preferences. It is just that this thread totally proves that, no matter what, they will always make someone unhappy with any change they make. I like the new way.
  14. Another vote for supporting both versions.
  15. Since we love to compare SWTOR to food here, I would like to point out that when I get something I didn't order in a restaurant they usually say, "Sorry, you can keep what we brought you and we will give you what you actually ordered at no extra charge." If they are really good they will give me a 10% discount on the entire bill. (Okay, that last one rarely happens.) What they should do is create two items for each current item, one with extra stuff and one without. Give everyone that has currently purchased the items both. Then list them separately in the Cartel Market. Everyone happy!
  16. I will add my voice to the chorus asking for the padlock back. As for why the change, perhaps it was old code that was mistakenly put into production? That kind of thing can happen. It shouldn't, but having worked with computers for 20 years you learn that even the best people can make mistakes. No need to fire anyone if it is a rare thing. If you find someone who screws up like this regularly, then it might be time to take steps. Sorry if I am being too reasonable. Uh... WHAT ARE YOU? A BUNCH OF MONKEYS!?!!11 (There you go )
  17. So after reading the venom that the current patch was received with in this thread I decided to go look at the patch notes myself. The first thing I noticed is that the Cartel Market items and fixes are listed first, but if you keep reading it is not actually the majority of the patch. The largest section seems to be bug fixes for classes, missions, FPs and Ops. Fixed some appearance stuff. Fixed the F2P bug. A few other things. Overall it is a decent patch. Of course there is new cartel items, I expect that in every patch now. So why the hate? Fixing things is a negative now because they didn't fix the right things? The only issue I really see is the Harbinger problem. That seems pretty serious and I can guarantee that they are in panic mode over there trying to figure out what went wrong so they can fix it. Despite what some people seem to imply they are not intentionally trying to get rid of their players. They want their players to be happy because happy players pay money. Last thought... Can we PLEASE stop with the "Well they lost two million subs! Duhher!" Yes, they did. Just like every other MMO after launch in the history of MMOs (Not sure if WoW was an exception, but if so it was just that, an exception). It does not speak to the quality of the game.
  18. The stuttering after 1.4 was real enough. That game was still playable, but it was occasionally hard on the eyes. I'm glad they fixed that. (At least for me. I wouldn't want to make a claim that anyone else doesn't still experience the issue. )
  19. I have no emperical evidence, just personal experience. If it was a major problem that effected just about everybody then it should be fairly easy for Bioware to find the issue. If it is a bug then they should have been able to fix it already. If it is a limit in the engine (certainly possible) then there really wouldn't be anyway to fix it without re-writing the engine. So either it is an obscure bug that they can not find. Or it is an engine problem that they can not fix without a major overhaul. Either way it would be understandable why nothing has been done about it for a year. If this problem was truely game breaking then they would have fixed it by now. Obviously many people (including myself) don't have this problem or they wouldn't still be playing the game. One final thought. It is possible that I DO have this problem, but never noticed, but I think I would notice a delay that was half a second or longer. The OP is right that even a half second is a major delay in a game.
  20. Just to throw in from the otherside. I have never had this problem, been playing since early access. So if it is a problem, it certainly doens't effect everyone, or most likely even a majority of players. Now I don't want to say that this isn't an important issue for people that do experience these issues, it would certainly be annoying. Also, if it only effects a small percentage of the people (or even a large minority) it would make the bug much more difficult to find and fix. If they can't reproduce the error it could be impossible to find.
  21. For those that want a desert without walls, here you go! http://desertbus-game.org/ Drive in the desert for up to 8 hours (at 45mph) without hitting a wall or exhaustion zone!
  22. I know what you are talking about, and that is a problem, but it is much better here than in WoW. There is a line you have to walk between immersion and boredom. Honestly Hoth does more on the immersion side, but it strays dangerously close to boring trying to get from one place to another on that planet.
  23. I wanted to let you all know that I will be waiting until we have a little more information or at least a firm release date before ordering. Because I know how everyone else cares what I do.
  24. 100% disagree. What you have expressed is an opinion. In my opinion what you have is a huge area filled with stuff. Hills, mountains, cliffs, rivers, canyons, plus outposts, towns, cities and lots of wreckage (previous city planet, starships, other stuff). A lot of that stuff you just can't walk over. Sometimes you have to go through passes or tunnels or something else to get to another area (another zone). I have been out backpacking in the mountains and guess what? You can't just walk over them (and jumping doesn't help). Honestly most MMOs (including this one) are far more open than the real world is.
  25. One more point on information that is not given. For those that pre-order, exactly when are those 5 early access days? Cause if they told us, I missed it. Edit: So "Spring". Missed that.
