  1. I just came back to the game after a very long hiatus, and have basically forgotten the mechanics of the firebrand stormcaller fight. I'm a healer, and it seems like no matter what my side is getting obliterated when we have to run into the shield by the electric shock poles. How do you avoid this? You can't just run out of the shield since the special move fubars you're team quickly, but you can't stay in the shield since the electric shock rods land there. Is there something I'm missing as the healer that I should be doing, or is there a general mechanic that the group as a whole is missing?
  2. I actually think the companion thing would be an incredibly cool thing. I enjoyed their stories for the most part, and wouldn't mind more But, as has been said they have been abandoned which is truly a shame. I just came back to the game after about a year and a half. I see that the battle for who is right for this game still rages on. Can't we simply agree that this MMO is built to be a hybrid. Having a solo mode is just as fun for me as the group stuff. But, I will say that sometimes I just don't want to have to always go with a group somewhere. I also really like the stories. Having people blast me for not spacebarring everything is annoying, so sometimes it's just better to not have to deal with it and taking the game at my own pace. This game has the opportunity to be the best of both worlds. I like the way it's set up. Now, if we can get things up'd a notch we'll be good. For people to continually act like this game is only for one set of people rather than for an entire population of science fiction gamers is just silly. Get over it, and get over yourselves. Enjoy the game for all that it is, and hopefully will be.
  3. I could care less about a barbershop, or any other small trinket of content. That's really all that stuff is. What I would like to know, or at least understand the direction of , is what the future story content will be like post Hutt Cartel expansion.
  4. I think people who believe PvE type quests being converted into PvP missions is pigeon holing themselves into believing that there is simply only one form of PvP which is untrue. I actually love the hybrid approach that this event provides. I want to be able to do missions, and also fight players. Having both together makes these quests an even better time for people who share my view. The difference is that you can steal things from players. I've been in fights for control of the pylons, and orb stations. Gotten killed while killing the gree destroyer, and killed people to steal the gree destroyer from them. It adds another level for me, which I am greatly appreciative for. It's a fantastic event in my opinion so I hope that the feedback you speak of getting to the devs shows that not everyone believes that PvE quests and PvP quests can't combine forces like they are in this event.
  5. Yes. It's whining plain and simple. You, and all other people who simply ignore the type of quest they pick up, are being ridiculous. You've been given a choice to participate in a pvp type event. You have the ability to partake in it or not. The argument that's being made by PvE players who have no wish to partake in PvP content is that basically they are completionists, and must do the quests. These people are making a choice that does not mesh with their style of gaming, and then blaming everyone else for their lack of understanding. You're fooling yourself when you pick up the labled PvP quests. The easiest suggestion I can provide any PvE player is that any quest labled PvP should be treated like a heroic 4 man quest which I'm sure you all do anyway in a group. If you're in a group I highly doubt you'll get into many scrums. Safety in numbers.
  6. The gree event is absolutely awesome in my opinion. It's insanely fun being in a group and fighting for control of the charging pylon. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. For instance yesterday I was in a group and we grabbed orbs and headed for the pylon. When we got to the pylon there was one other 4 man group there. We decided to attack them and see if we could get them out of the area so we could cap our orbs. We did. From that one action it turned into their group hunting us, and then us hunting them. When we were at the Ancient Gree Destroyer, they would try to sneak up and attack us. We held our ground which was simply awesome. It was a blast, and made me glad I chose to roll on a pvp server. If you're not interested in pvp content, make sure you look at the titles of the quests. If it says PvP then it's NOT FOR YOU. The best thing about this game, also my opinion, is that it caters to a wide audience. They should never be replaced for creating exciting content for everyone.
  7. So...cleanse to place it, or cleanse after it's placed?? That's where I'm getting confused.
  8. Hey all, So my guild has finally progressed into EC hardmode which is nice for us. Yeah we're late oh well though. My main question has to do with the yellow circle that the person on the ground will get. Some have told me that I need to cleanse it off myself. I don't really understand this mechanic. Is it exactly like story mode in that after about 5 seconds the circle will place itself where you were and then you can move? Or do I need to use cleanse to place it? Or, do I wait the 5 seconds and then once it's placed cleanse myself of the yellow circle? Also second question is about the electric bubbles: I've seen some vids were most of the healers were standing in front of the tanks which I thought was a no no. For these do I just simply wait until they fire at me and move or is there a system to this that I should be aware of? Thanks for the help.
  9. I never understand how people get so annoyed with the game if it doesn't have the background stuff like in this game's case: Pazaak and Pod racing. I haven't done everything this game has to offer. I've been a sub since the game came out. It's my opinion that if you have done everything in this game (ie you've experienced all the class stories, leveled up all alts, geared all alts, beaten all space missions, done every planet quest) then you have way way way too much time devoted to this game. Step back, take a break. And get back to enjoying everything life has to offer outside of the digital world. Hell, sometimes I don't even do much on the game outside of playing on the GTN while I talk to guildies over team speak. It sounds like the OP just hasn't quite found the right spot for themselves in the game. Experiment with a different guild maybe. Do some PvPing. If you're that bent on leaving then I'm sorry to see you go as I absolutely love my time in the game. Hopefully you'll find something you miss in your break and come on back.
  10. I don't agree with you that they've destroyed anything. They kept a mini game as a mini game. All while giving a nice little reward for doing them with black hole and daily comms, a reputation system for space, and some creds. I don't know which screen shots your talking about. Can you link them? I'm feeling like they might be from Far Cradle Strike.
  11. This is a good idea. With a vid of what you're doing we could pin point what's going wrong for you. Are you using the A S W D keys along with the mouse when you're in open areas? The lasers are not heat seeking as some have said. They track you yes. Stay in one position then pop up to another part of the screen and you'll see they'll still be firing at your last position, then pop to another part of the screen. They'll be one step behind you. When the small fighters are coming at you fire at them but use the A S D and W keys to go in a circle while you control your reticle with the mouse. You won't get hit nearly as much as some have alluded to. Nobody expects someone new to these missions to get them on the first or second shot. It took me about 4-6 tries to beat Cha Raaba. Then, it took me another 2-3 times when I was first getting used to it to beat it. Now, I can beat it regularly. Don't give up, keep plugging away. Get us a vid, and we can give you more advice then the general stuff.
  12. Courtney has always been absolutely great. It's nice to add names to that list. Eric has been absolutely awesome as well. I don't want to leave out the rest of the community team since they all are doing excellent jobs. It's very refreshing to see the level of care they show the forum goers.
  13. stop continually firing. Give your shields time to recharge. You have to be selective with your blaster fire, and torpedos. If you're shields are getting zapped, stop firing, and put on your shield regen and only fire missles until you're back up and running, then selectively drop your regen for the power to the blasters. Use your ship powers in the right spots. Go to Dulfy.net and look at her guides they helped me when I originally had trouble.
  14. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time with it. I have beaten them countless times. There's definitely something you're not doing correctly. I think they are well tuned for difficulty, and I can't wait for even harder ones to come out.
  15. 1. Liara. All time favorite female character in any game. 2. Morrigan 3. Mordin 4. Vette 5. Hk 6. Allistare 7. Merrill 8. Mako 9. Garrus 10. of course Wrex. That big old dino lookin mofo was the man.
  16. Also I found it incredibly helpful to visit dulfy.net and peruse her video walk through of each mission I definitely agree that for the third jedi ship you should use the non target power. The first jedi ship just remember that you can keep your reticle on the ship with your mouse, and also use the w a s d keys to move the ship around to mitigate damage as well.
  17. Yeah that will do it. Sounds like your tank wasn't willing to adapt to the group and just wanted to run through it without a care. It sucks that you couldn't finish, but at least you know not to play with that tank again if you have the option to ignore him.
  18. I'm a little surprised to hear that the group wasn't geared for Kaon. Was it a hardmode or a normal difficulty run? I always found in Kaon that are a few points where not working together can really bite back: the turret, and then the one room where I've found it easier to pull the enemies into the previous hallway first, and then immediately going right along the railings to the above foyer type where there are a bunch of mercs and screamers, and taking those mobs in as small a dose as possible. Then for the last boss I could see a wipe happening if they didn't target the one guy who continually grows larger and larger first. But anyway, I'm sorry you had such crap luck.
  19. Maybe I'm a rare person in the game then. The GTN is a designated buy and sell place. If I'm in a random group and I have something that doesn't sell on the GTN I am more than willing to simply give it away to someone who may want the piece of gear or what not. I do the same for guild mates if I have something that they want more than I do. It's not a loss to be selfless. edit: Besides if you run a flashpoint in a random group it's not like you're NOT making money on the deal already by accepting the mission rewards, or getting things to sell to vendors from the mobs. I don't see a need to pay someone when they are going to come out ahead of where they were in the beginning regardless.
  20. I don't agree with charging someone for your services in a video game. Ultimately you're prohibiting someone from enjoying the game or just being a royal self indulgent d bag. I find charging for your tank or healing services is absolutely ridiculous. An MMO does not equal a real life business world.
  21. Operative + Sorc is my favorite combo. When I go into a guild ops group and I see my girl healing with her sorc I have no doubt we're completely covered for any content. It really does come down to comfort level with the actual other player I think. I have more faith in her than I do in any other healer in my guild. It's the same thing when I see which tanks or DPS are signed up to raid. Some I have more faith in, and others make me think twice before I even jump into the group.
  22. Seriously? You have to bribe people to play the game?! That's absurd, and I think horrible behavior on their part. I'd probably put them on ignore and hope to find other more interested people.
  23. False. There are far more DPS in this game than other classes. Therefore you're going to be in a longer line to get a flashpoint. It's the nature of the beast. There is a saying that there is more than one way to skin a cat. You can easily go into the general chat and recruit for a group, or ask your guild mates to join in one one. DPS is not greater than anything. DPS is a very popular class because it does not typically require you to focus on group needs (my opinion).
  24. From what the other posters have said you can pick up the weekly Operation stuff from the PvE daily terminal, and the quests are found on the Gav Dragon or Ziost Shadow. Also, 50 is a requirement. Tier one ops for story mode will require at the very very least full Tionese. HM tier 1 ops will probably require full columi, or a mix of columi/black hole/rakata. Tier two ops story mode will drop Rakata so they are at present tuned for full columi, but I've found that you probably want to have some black hole/rakata already. Lost Island HM is a great place to grab your Rakata chest, and the daily comms grind to get the rakata implants/earpieces would be something I'd suggest as well. For HM tier two ops (Denova, Terror from Beyond), I've found that you probably want to be in at least campaign gear to go through them.
