  1. Gal, I'm just going to say... it has happened to me before. Let me say this I play an operative, which means that usually I'm the only agent type in a FP when it happens. I've gotten *****ed at for rolling need only on agent gear before. I generally roll the same way you do in this case we got to the last boss and killed it two pieces of agent gear dropped. I rolled need on both and got called a loot whore by some idiot sorcerer. At the time I told him it was for my class and then promptly ignored him. It was not my fault that two pieces of agent gear dropped and I was the only non-sith in the party. The point of this? People are dumb and greedy and will lash out for no good reason. I continue to roll the way I want with little issue but it does happen. As for the need for companion people.. I can understand the argument. I usually make all my parties. I also will tell people what my loot rules are for my parties when they join.
  2. I'm sorry but that is not WORLD PVP but rather battleground/warzone PVP. The idea of battlegrounds is that two equally matched groups go up against each other. World PVP has always been a zerg rush and about who has more numbers. That was world PVP in every online game to date. If you don't like zerg PVP then don't goto a world PVP zone.
  3. No. My main is an IA and I have to say the storyline is really well done. Her story is actually very plausible. Whether you believe it or not the Sith rely on agents to do their dirty work. Not to mention the story really gets fun at the end of Chapter 1. Those Sith overlords just want to make you feel inferior. But in the end no one can make someone just disappear like an imperial agent can. The Sith always leave a damned mess to clean up.
  4. No it would just be typical of corporate America.
  5. Well... but if you haven't finished the quest already just reset it and pick a different option.
  6. I think it has to do with the server as less with the animations. Though the animations need the ability to be clipped by the player. I first noticed this when I was in the huttball war zone. You know how when you die it puts up a force field? Well being the way I am I just kept "w" held down so that I would run through it the second it dropped. What happened was the field dropped and I ran like two steps and then couldn't move again. Even though the field was gone I was stuck in the invisible "door" until I got deemed inactive and kicked out of the war zone. I haven't queued for a war zone since. I'm not sure if it is related to this issue but I think it may be. It's noticeable with casted skills and movement, its like the server still thinks you are moving. In my case the door was still there a few seconds after it dropped... and I got stuck in it.
  7. It's hard to be that into it. It really takes a lot of your time to be. I've applied my hardcore obsessiveness to my real life and its amazing at what can be accomplished with that kind of focus.
  8. Relationships are another thing that people have a hard time moving on from. It happens with just about anything that you've put a lot of time and investment into.
  9. Nice post, OP. I like your satire. I didn't really read the rest of the thread. It's TLDR sorry. I agree with what you are saying. There is an evolution to the online gamer. Many gamers who are coming from WoW are showing signs that people that played Ragnarok Online did back in 2004-2005 or so. This happens for any MMORPG after about 4-5 years of playing. That was just the first case I noticed probably because I was in that group of people. As far as Ragnarok Online was concerned... "I had played since beta! I was 99 when rebirth came out! I 99ed the second time again, I was in the elite circle. I had a character in the winning team for the championship. I was serious business man!" What happened? Well for lack of better words I grew up. This is less in the sense of age and more in the sense of mindset. You see if you play a game for a long time you get kind of attached to it. It gets harder to move on to other games. Then this new shiny game comes out and you might actually enjoy it. But you are not over your first game, whatever game it is so you trash this new game. This new game is a threat, it makes you realize that you just wasted so much time on that other game. Myself, I got over that phase back in 2005. No MMORPG can live up to you first MMORPG whatever that game happened to be. WoW just happened to be a lot people's first MMORPG as well. If you think about that then the current events are not surprising at all. May be the force be with you, OP. (I just happen to be a SW geek at heart as well. )
  10. Before I start, I'm going to say I'm happy with SWTOR and everything. Yes it needs to grow and they need to add things but surely that's every online game during launch. But I have to disagree here. WoW and every other MMORPG before SWTOR are a "sand box style" role-playing game. All the characters you create in WoW, FFXI, EVE, Aion, Lineage, Rift, etc have background stories and cultures. However in these games it does not hit you in the face like it does in SWTOR. It is not a direct part of your game play if you don't want it to be. In SWTOR you can't get around the alignment system easily.. so role-playing is far more integrated into the game. I like this a lot about SWTOR to be honest. I would say that SWTOR has revolutionized the role-playing part of the MMORPG. The same way WoW did the game play part with instances. We don't know it yet but I wouldn't be surprised if many games take the SWTOR model of "role-play" into their games in the future. For those of you crying for a sandbox style MMO really there are plenty of those around still. They don't tend to be really popular. Instead most people call sandbox style MMORPG's "lame Korean grinders."
  11. In this game I can see how it would be kinda rare to dual box. In some MMO's such as L2 it is more common. In SWTOR I see no reason to dual box yet so I probably won't do it in this game. *shrug* With that said the heroics are OK in my opinion. I haven't run across a heroic quest that me and my fiancee haven't been able to duo with our Sith Sorc+Operative combo. If people are spamming for it we will join a group to do it. After all we need to make friends somehow...
  12. It seems that you are not very observant at all. I suppose you could just run through the quests like any other MMO. However if you stop for half a second and stop swinging that lightsaber you would notice the sound effects in the background. The lightening in Dromund Kaas is actually done quite well even if its not perfect. Also I don't know if you have noticed but the planets are instanced, meaning there is several versions of the planet up at each time. This means more mobs and less people to compete with. Really just leave if you aren't happy. It's not my problem.
  13. Honestly, I tend to play MMORPGs only with my fiancee (and soon to be husband) now. I've always been a gamer. We actually met in an MMORPG back in 2000. We were rivals in a game that had a pvp based endgame. This makes gaming easier, as I've raided - I understand what that entails. However, on the flip side there is almost always a character pair that we play together. The bad part of a gamer wife is I will get mad if I feel he isn't playing with me enough and I will get jealous and so on. When I first come home I almost always make a beeline for the kitchen because I'm hungry. Almost always does my fiancee get up and hug me and talk for a few minutes. Even if a raid is going on.. as long as a boss isn't pulled or something like that. The greeting when you first come home is important to a woman. It means a lot to us. Many have said before it is all about communication. Even with a gamer wife there can be issues. It's all about being in a serious relationship though, in my eyes you put the game aside because you actually care that person. Most of the time people need attention when they get home. Everyone likes to be welcomed home.
  14. I like this feature about this game. The fact that you have to choose a class at level 10 is neat. I wish more MMORPGs would do this again. Don't like the class? Fine go level another character or delete it. Getting to level 10 is not hard or boring. It's fine the way it is in my opinion.
  15. I came to this game only because of friends. However if this wasn't the case I doubt would be able to find a guild easily in SWTOR. Bioware, I realize this is your first MMORPG and for that I am willing to give you a little bit of leeway on this issue. Server forums are needed during a game's honeymoon period... players need the tools to find other like-minded players. Pretty much the only way your current setup would work was if you lost a majority of your player-base and quite honestly I don't want to see that happen. You see MMORPGs are a lot like real life. When you have a lot of subscribers the game feels like a bustling city. This means I don't know my neighbors, in fact I have no idea who they are. It is your job to give me the tools to get to know them. When a game dwindles down to a small amount of subscribers it starts to feel more like a small town. I no longer need forums to keep in touch with people because there just isn't that many people around. Not to mention if you are actively playing an MMORPG that has less than 30k subscribers you get to know everyone. Period. The Guild Hall should be set up in this way: NA Servers: -NA Server Travel Hub Republic -NA Server Travel Hub Empire -Server 1 -Server 2 etc.. EU Servers: -EU Server Travel Hub Republic -EU Server Travel Hub Empire -Server 1 -Server 2 etc.. You won't need a travel hub for either side if you are not allowing transfers either. Subforums for Republic/Empire are not really needed. People can easily put Republic or Empire in the thread topic. However no one is going to want to search through piles of threads to even find a guild on their server. Furthermore you may want to consider adding actual community server forums in addition to revamping the Guild Hall. This would allow us to post things like "PVE progression" threads so that we can create small competitions for server firsts. PVP players will have fun with server forums by calling each other newbs. A server forum help creates a community. /signed We need server forums. PS. I think it is a good sign that a yellow directed me to this thread and locked another thread on this topic. It seems they are looking at this thread at least. Mara
