    GCD in PvP

So I loaded up DCUO because it is more of console action MMO hybrid and it does indeed not have a rigid GCD; I can chain things togethor as fast as my ability and the animation will let me. DCUO is an MMO (a failing MMO but an MMO)

    GCD in PvP

Removing the GCD would not allow you to do all your moves in the same instant. SFII for example supports multi-player a.k.a. vs. over the internet and has no concept of a GCD AS do MANY other games. The GCD does not prevent you from using an ability it prevents you from using abilities one after the other without waiting for the GCD. But, let me ask you this: can you walk and chew bubble gum? Even better can you shot a gun and throw a grenade? Yes. Can you hop on one foot, rub your tummy, and pat your head? Some people can. It is a little bit scary that people seem so ingrained into "An MMO is this way and must be this way"

    GCD in PvP

True, they all have them, but is there any reason for it any longer and in "fast paced action" is there a place for the throttle? Just because something is always there doesn't make it "right"

    GCD in PvP

I am wondering what the general opinion of the GCD is in the so called "fast paced action combat" of SW:TOR is. I often find that the GCD is throwing off the timing of my abilities. Yes, you can call me a bad player and say l2p if you like, but that isn't what I'm looking for. I'm not a huge fan of the newer FPS games like Call of Duty or those other two big names that re-release every so often, but I do remember in CS there was no GCD and in SFII there is no GCD, basically the time it takes to execute a "move" is the only thing that prevents you from going directly into the next move. In my opinion the combat in SW:TOR is not really like the combat in WoW so while the system may be similar I do not feel everything lines up for a good comparison. Mostly WoW feels much slower, it may not be, but that is the way it feels to me personally. Yes, the GCD may only be 1second (or less), but lets face it 1 second is a loooooooooooooooooong time in terms of computer games and human reaction time. One second can mean knocking a player off a ramp or knocking them into the score zone; especially if they are "sprinting" or speed hacking. So my question is: does the GCD have any actual value in the game other than adding a small degree of predictability to what a player can dish out? Does it have any place in PvP at all? Does the GCD actually increase the chance that timing will be off especially when coupled with latency and server/client side lag? Is the GCD long past it's time of being useful in MMO games?
  5. It's a valid play style in WoW; I have to assume rateds will allow for full teams premades. Now the only true exploit her is if the are hacking the client to allow running on the same box; if they aren't they have to be using 3 computers and a lot of good software and work is involved. Unless they are just bad they are probably more skilled than you. What you are actually thinking about would be a follow bot not a real multi-boxer... The solution would be to swap some one out and let the multi-boxer attack/defend the pressure point at least then there are 3 people doing something as a TEAM. However I do have to say anyone doing this in PvP has no since of ethics... much like everyone else playing mmo games
  6. Real Life > Video Game Penalty for leaving is the right idea, if you really need to leave the penalty won't matter to you anyway. How many threads on this topic do we really need? http://www.gamebreaker.tv/the-republic-bioware-hates-crits/ 53:48, 55:52 FUNNY

  9. I'm only against you saying you want to do WZ then alt+qq'n because you think you will lose or don't like and not having to suffer a penalty. Everyone in the group you just leave suffer a penalty you should too. That is the logic. You are the one who started the "real" "serious" pvp labeling.
  10. Actually I do. I've never left a WZ unless real life was an issue and if real life ws an issue 15 minutes is not so very long; probably take 7 to help the kid another 2 to get back, 4 to check forums, maybe fix a drink?
  11. serious pvp players are in it for the pvp not the loot/dailies/insert gimmick serious pvp players want to fight an up hill battle this is a good feeling; running away not so much Edit: as far as the cheating hacking. Go try Gunz: The Duel and find out what hacking really looks like. And even there I used to really enjoy fighting the hackers for 5minutes straight before they could kill me.
  12. I just felt like this needed to be posted here:

    Remove Hutball

Huttball is the best match right now; void star and civil war are very good, but there is just a feel to huttball that skill and team work are more important. Crazy aoe guy can win void star and so can crazy dot guy; same for civil war.

    PvP moments

Civil War perfect game; it was epic. By perfect I mean us full shields/armor 600 them 0. At the end I was holding mid solo against 3 people.

    Sage Self Healing

So you are mad that the healer did a needed task and got 2 extra medals for doing this needed task??? True story: Myself and a merc healer were left to guard because everyone just ran off with no plan or thinking and we at least stayed and did the guard duty. I did this and let the merc heal me 2 get 2 medals and then I did it and got two medals and then I said "ok, I'm going to go try to help those dumb dps" The part here that is interesting? I took the time to help my team mate get a few medals before I went to help the others; I should have just alt+qq I guess???

    MVP votes

I vote the MVP, regardless of if he/she was a jerk. I don't always go by medals, healing, or damage. I try to pay attention to what I see people actually doing in the match. If something only happened because of x player; x player IS MVP even if they are bottom of the board. When I don't see anything "epic" happen I try to pick the best healer because usually healing is helping the team; top dmg/kills/medals doesn't mean anything about helping the team. However, on my server at least it seems like most just vote the top board.

    Sage PvP DPS

um thanks for trolling, but I already have a 50 Sorc (made back on day 1), and I am re-rolling a republic DPS sage, because I am tired of my server/huttball. Actually I go back and forth between two servers my Empire server and my Republic server. I'm just planning to focus in on getting a republic to 50 and I like my sorc. I already know what I want to run on my sentinel so I thought I would get some input on the sage, you know use the forum for what it is for and not for trolling... I guess at worst I posted in the wrong forum but I want to know from a pvp point of view. Thanks.

    Sage PvP DPS

Simple question: Balance or Telekinetic and why? Linking specs also great Thanks.
  19. The reason most people don't like deserters: 1) We know the deserter thought they were to good to be here with us. 2) The deserter is to good to be bothered to even attempt to share knowledge or information. 3) The deserter can't be bothered to help build up a structure of team work that would develop over time due to same server pvp. 4) The deserter only cares about the deserter. 5) They are deserters. The good players who see this will mark it down and remember your name, not that you care, but just remember we do. And when you are in that hard fought near win situation, what we call a good fight, we may just remember and leave you to die. When I say good player I don't only mean skill I mean integrity; ever heard of it? What about honor? Not the crap you get in WoW, but real old fashioned honor.
  20. Right now playing my 50 healer (in pugs) makes me so mad it isn't even funny. It goes one of four ways: 1) There are republic and we actually have a good match and there is a good battle. 2) There are republic and the pugs are so stupid they can't execute a plan of action. 3) HUTTBALL - good team that knows how to use the field and pass and get a life grip. 4) HUTTBALL - bad team that has no idea how to do anything. Not only can I barely scrape 3 medals here if we are fighting a good team I am so dead. Only in void star and civil war can I actually do anything if my team is bad. In Huttball at 50 it is a joke to try to be useful with a bad team. I'm not BM yet, but as near as I can tell good teams focus me down ASAP, and bad teams can't kill me, but I can't kill them either unless i have 2minutes of free time. You failed when you said 1v1 -> team sport -> there is no I in TEAM. It may be my ego, but at this point I am fairly sure people know me when they see me. I can hear it on vent/mumble "There is mag FOCUS MAG ASAP" What you need is better teammates same as I do.
  21. The medal system is bad. It rewards kill farming. If this is the plan just give us TEAM DEATHMATCH and let us go at it.
