  1. In my opinion they can add all those things without an increase in the level cap. Setting aside the gear issue (which shouldn't be part of the discussion anyways tbh) they would still need to go back and re-balance the classes. That would add to development time for the new content and delay its release.
  2. You're assuming a wide variance from server to server in terms of role distribution, with nothing to substantiate why you think that might be the case. A better assumption would be that distribution on each server is roughly the same. Even then that doesn't really matter, because queue distribution will only match server distribution for a sufficiently large pool of players in the queue. As the number of people in the queue shrinks you increase the chances that the distribution will become too imbalanced for the LFG tool to function properly.
  3. It's a highly contrived scenario that you concocted to support something you already believed to be true. One could do the same thing and "prove" that same server LFG will be a complete failure.
  4. Players are discrete chunks though, so that distribution doesn't necessarily scale with the number of people in the queue. For smaller numbers of players in the queue you increase the odds that you won't have the proper distribution to fill the groups. If 10 people are in a queue what are the chances that none of them are a tank? How about 100 people? Or 1000? As you increase the number of players in a queue you increase the likelihood that you will be at your average distribution.
  5. You're not going to be able to prevent other people from queuing if you don't like them. This seems to be an argument against any kind of random dungeon finder, not just whether it is same server or cross server.

  7. Same here. What's interesting about this to me is that Jung Ma and Ajunta Pall are both still relatively healthy servers. I assumed both would be destination servers. Like I said in the stickied thread I'm sure this is just an oversight, but I don't envy BW's position here at all.
  8. Or they could tune a new level capped player down to match the level 50 content, something like the bolster mechanic in 10-49 pvp just going the other way. Probably much less work that way. Daniel Erickson mentioned a change to combat in that DH interview, so it wouldn't be totally out of left field if they did something like that. If they want the current level 50 content to remain relevant they would have to either tune it to the new cap or tune players to match the content.
  9. They've already added content to this game without adjusting the level cap, so they can certainly do it with this content as well. Of course they can choose not to, just as they can choose to do a complete gear reset and make level 53 quest greens better than anything in the game right now. Which is fine, I have no problem with either of those things and I don't think either would damage the game in any way. I just don't see how increasing the level cap is necessary when this game is intended to be story driven. I'd prefer it if BW focused on telling the story the best way they possibly could rather than worrying about what adding 5 skill points will do to class balance.

  11. Imp side Ajunta Pall was in the high 90s at fleet around 9:30 server last night. Until a few weeks ago I'd routinely see 100+ during prime time. Also consider that not everyone will leave, since we'll have one relatively healthy server transferring into another relatively healthy server. Ideally it would a bunch of low pops going to a single healthy server. What a mess .

  14. They have to re-balance the content, on top of the work they have to do re-balancing the classes. To me it's far simpler to just release all this new content without a change to the level cap.
  15. What is being suggested couldn't be used by players at all.
  16. Are you suggesting that a player would level to 55, then go back and do level 50 content in order to get the gear for the new level 55 end game?
