  1. The day I'll be out healed by a 31 pt heal sorc/sage I might agree with you. Not to mention that you are sacrificing the bubble stun by taking it.

Trust me it happens. I play on a very strong PVP server and most play bubble stun, however the few that are truly skilled and play 31 point are monsters. However it also takes the other people to know to stand in it etc..

Both good specs, but one will be nerfed soon enough and then its time to switch back lol

  2. Please don't listen to the poster above me about salvation.

Yes, it only works if someone stands in it etc etc etc...

    However,

Voidstar, novare, and alderaan (civil war) are classic prime examples of how great and effective that AOE heal is!

Voidstar - Drop AOE on yourself and other healers and then spot heal.

    - Drop AOE by door and LOS all attackers and spot heal.

    - Drop AOE by door trying to be opened and if you're super geared your aoe can hit for almost 1k per tick in warzones.

Novare Coast - Drop your AOE on the node sit back and spot heal.

Civil war - Drop AOE on node LOS and spot heal/bubble etc..

It simply allows you to heal 8 people for large amounts without having to do anything.

Now, MOST people don't notice the AOE on teh ground cause they're focusing on their target, but if you are a good player you use this aoe to your advantage and stun your targets in it and use it as a safe zone to fight out of or around.

I've always used this in PVP and so does my pocket healer. I've seen him break 1,000,000+ healing many times too!

    For PVP you want

    260-300 Alacrity

    300-350 surge.

33-36% crit (most of your big heals tend to get interrupted so the power helps your HOT and AOE tick harder.

I say half willpower augments and half power augments.

(Some sorcs/sages) use the 18 endurance 12 power augments and a exotech fortitude stim for more defense in war zones. Allows you to live longer etc and helps your warzone medpack hit you for more HP since its a 30% HP total heal.

All your mods need to be the high power or high crit.

Enhancements need to be high power surge and etc etc..

Use an orange belt and bracer and stick the armoring from the offhand in them and then a power mod from one of the pieces (yes this takes time to get and you waste the other enhancement etc so just send it to a toon with 400 artifice and RE it then sell it on the GTN to pay for your min maxing cost.

Expertise i'd say sit around 1280-1320 That high of expertise youre losing on output, but still gaining on defense etc..

    hope this helps!

  3. These threads make me lol.

23/1/17 is the spec i play.

YES I use a shield because when you're running the ball and someone is auto attacking you from a far you mitigate it down to say 80hp per tick instead of around 200... that adds up and quick! So IMO having the shield allows me to be more versatile especially when guarding a pocket healer who is getting focused.

All you need to do is know when to attack them and when to stun them, same problem people had with sentinels popping guarded by the force. If you get the guy full resolve and he pops that he's going to have his way with you. Just need to learn control and how to counter other classes.....

To be a better player in PVP i recommend you play all the classes and advanced classes this way you can always konw the counter balance attack/stun to do.

This class does not need a nerf, honestly I think they have this perfected. It's strong, but not OP, its a good tank, but not game breaking, its a good stealth class, and a fun all around class to play.

For the record I out DPS shadows and sins allll the time in my spec, the spec doesn't mean one does more than the other. It matters to the player and their play style.

If you think about it 23/1/17 has ZERO DOTs .. yes I can cast one on you, but i'm not going to use that ability, takes too long to cast and does too little dmg. So its a direct dmg class I have to be up in your face to hurt you.

    Slow me,

    Root me,

    knock me back,

    stun me,

    STOP QQing on the forums.

i have 7 50s that I PVP on and I feel guilty playing smash spec on my sentinel i just feel like im cheating when i hit everyone for 6k+

  4. Not one person has commented on this .......

EWH Has a Higher Armor rating than War hero. SOOOO with that being said.

Belt, bracers, head, cheast, gloves, legs, feet, all will have higher rating meaning you'll take less dmg than you do with war hero. You'll naturally mitigate better. Allowing you to live a little bit longer in those 1v1 etc.. this gives you the advantage of getting a few more attacks in etc..

2nd. The min max dmg ouput from the Mainhand/offhand is greater. Yes I agree min maxed WH is better than straight up base EWH. However if you do take the time to spot fix your gear grinding out the EWH you'll actually see a viable increase in your output of dmg and in your ability to survive longer.

I think BW did the right thing by making the difference small, but noticeable.

    Just a long long grind..

  5. the 7/18/16 spec was nerfed along time ago, its not viable nowadays from what I know.

This is far from the truth. (no offense to the poster)

This is the spec i run on my sage/sorc.

Here's how this spec works... You get insta procs for TK throw, Mind crush, TK Wave, Disturbance, and then disturbance gives you TK Waves as does your AOE ability.

It's particularly an AOE spec. Your main AOE you're specd into so it hits pretty hard.. Then you add the TK Wave proc hit the same group of people.. then you TK Throw the weak ones, insta proc your dot, and burn them down rinse and repeat.

You can really put up huge numbers because you're always hitting so many targets and able to DOT everyone since you can regain force so easy in this spec.

YES it was nerfed, but it's still very very strong.

I say stack 33% force crit (Since you're speced into 3% more crit) This allows you to stack a whole lot more power on your toon. Making your Force in balace hit much harder, heal you much harder, etc etc.

This spec if you can proc everything in a 1v1 you'll burn someone soo fast. People don't think you'll project, tk throw (twice as fast) TK wave, and mind crush them in a matter of a few seconds.... that's a lot of dmg going out.

  6. sorcs need a new ability... which does dmg to its target...

    that would be a start

You're doing it wrong. I can top the warzones constantly on my sage or sorc..... You just don't know how to play the class.

Sage/Sorc have so many spec variations they can run in pvp and in PVE they're monsters in the hybrid spec.

I think sage/sorc are fine where they are however I think the bubble pop needs to be nerfed, and smash jugs/guards.

If you learn how to play the class properly you'll be fine. :)

  7. Not knowing what i'm talking about? Please explain.... This happens on my server all the time and its a PVP server...

Now those that are on a PVE server, and it forces you to be flagged for PVP then I understand that will be frustrating, however you're in luck. This is an MMO it is very easy to get into ops groups and be protected. Problem solved, if its truly such a big deal that you unsub than this progressive game isn't for you. Being that a new event that wont hurt you or hinder you causes enough frustration for you to unsub...

Trust me having plenty of server 1st, and playing this game since beta I have a good grasp on this game.

  8. To all the people complaining about having to PVP to get to a PVE Objective.... Unsub and leave. Please transfer to a PVE server in the future. You rolled on a PVP server you read the agreement and rules. No one cares about you since you already chose what you wanted.

I'm looking very much forward to this, and i'm glad to see so much change and new things in this game/community.

Stop complaining so much and just enjoy what they're doing for you. You cry when they don't do anything and you cry when they do.

The game is in the best state it has been since launch. If they fix pvp, add more events, and keep this dynamic up I see GW2, WoW, and other games losing players who will sub/resub to swtor.

    See you guys on ilum!

  9. I got a phantom mask off the GTN for 1000c

People mess up and post things without knowing what they're doing. Watch the GTN adn ask around. People in my guild have gotten them for less than a mil.

You can get a million credits in a day. Not hard.

  10. I have used both a focus and a shield and i say shield.... When i'm running away to go stop a ball run, stop a cap etc.. if im being autoattacked in the back i see the shield cut that dmg way down.. Yes it wont stop everything, but i believe the survivablity it gives me is better than the extra force power. Honestly if you try both for a few games you'll notice that 1v1s, 2v1s etc are easier with the shield.

23/1/17 is seriously monstrous in PVP. I've won 2v1's against some of the top rated pvp guilds. I have a smash sentinel, vanguard, sage, sorc, and my shadow honestly is the most op of winning the game. Yes my vanguard/Sentienl can do a ton of dmg.... but the control i have with my shadow being able to do dmg, survive, stealth, sleep, sprint... its a wonderful class to play and it takes time to master.

    I recommend to eveyrone to roll a shadow/sin :)

Also just carry around 2 sets of full war hero in your bag, stims, and field respec.

  11. I have three sets of gear for my shadow. One full tank for huttball, one unlimited power one for 31 0 10 / 2 31 8 and one with a tad less power and crit for when i go balance spec. When I carry the ball in full expertise/survivor gear adjusted for a bit of defence, there are powertechs on TOFN that kill me in 5 seconds tops, with a 5k railshot through deflection.

To answer the question, Shadow tanks are by far the squishiest tanks in PVP at this point in time. Our only defensive ability has been broken for months and nobody cares. I got 4k railshot thru resilience today and that my friends has a trolololol label attached to it.

Uhmm ... 'get a pocket healer' ... I am sorry but with a pocket healer it will take a very skilled dps to take you down in any class.

Not true at all.... Use your CCs on the pocket healer focus on the tank. I peel them apart constantly it's all about control. Shadow hybrid i get the healer to waste his CC break then lift him. 8sec hes out thtas enough time for me to burn down the tank. A lot of people get tunnel vision in pvp, but if you take a step back and have awareness you change your play style and do more control, might do less dmg overall however you'll have more kills. That way you dont whack on a tank for 2mins while he keeps getting healed lol

As a shadow in pvp i went back and did the numbers. spec into your 2%defense increase and higher sheild. Also if you can afford to get your 2 set PVE tanking bonus with your 2setPVP bonus this will allow you to have 5% higher shield rating while Kinetic ward is up. Absorb won't do toooo much in pvp being that auto crits etc will still get through. Making your other 2 mitigation stats more important.

    32-34% defense.

    50% shield

    50%absorb.

Stack endurance when you can being that you'll be in the DR on mitigation, and stack expertise as well.

    <3 you.
