  1. Ok... I've seen new vendors in public test server for 1.1.5 and I'm seriously terrified buy what's about to come.

Looks like Bioware plans to screw everyone who achieved something.

    See what we get:

    - Magenta crystal schematics almost free from vendor.

    - Very rare Ops speeders for 1m from vendor

    - PvP and daily speeders for 1M+ from vendor

    - VIP speeder from vendor

    - all rare color crystals, including crystals from Karraga drops PvE sabers almost free from vendor. Or at higher cost, but still only credits - no achievement involved.

    What the heck?!

My guild downed world bosses about 20 times to get specific magenta crystals schematics. It was a huge achievement engaging guild multiple times on raids always requiring our artificer to come online when we groupped and it took few weeks to get it.

Now everyone will get it for 25k

I took part in Ops god-knows how many times and still don't have cyan color crystal, and each time I see player with PvE saber using it I see someone who achieved something I thrive for (ps. Screw the rakata black-core saber, it's a joke) - now you plan to give it away for some spare cash I earn by selling one high-grade item on GTN.

I won't even say anything about introducing more black-core sabers, especially for lvl50 players which is A HUGE IMMERSION BREAKER. Now all the ppl who care nothing about lore will run with this joke in Star Wars looking like a training saber being absolutely sure it makes them "l33t" and "special" cause they preordered (ps. it's not about being jelaous - I got preorder, I got rakata saber, it doesn't change anything) or bought stuff for 25k at vendor

Ps. Before someone pop-up telling that it won't hit the live servers - give me a quote. Otherwise it's just random opinion.

    REMARKS:

    - It's not about "feeling special" - it's about having an objective in game. And keeping things people worked for worthwhile. And having the point in keeping subscription instead of just getting all the stuff from vendor in moment one hits lvl50.

    - Patch 1.1.5 won't make your crafting useful. 1.2 will but we aren't talking about that patch. Also: The artificers get screwed most of all by 1.1.5 cause we won't need you anymore after 1.2 - all the crystals majority of people thrive for will be handled to us from vendors already.

    - I'm a casual player, not "hardcore raider" as majority of people falsely assume here. And as casual I ask for keeping achievement items as an achievements instead of give-away stuff

Game developers often use vendors to test items. It allows may players to get those items there by gaining the item(s) a wider test bed than would be possible if the item were to only be available for testing by mob or chest drops. A few times in EQ after a live update a whole bunch of Beta Vendors appeared on the live server, somebody forgot to throw the hide them switch.

So until that patch goes live and you see the same thing as on the PTS, I would not worry about it. It just may be a test server thing.

  2. So the issue may lie with the type of keyboard I use? (Would a laptop's keyboard happen to be a 'mechanical keyboard'?)

No, they are capacitive keyboards. Beneath the key cap is a small plunger which rests on a plastic pedestal which compresses when the key is depressed. After a small bit of travel the plastic depresses a metallic dome changing the distance between it and an underlying metallic pad there by changing the capacitance of the circuit causing a current to be registered in the keyboard logic circuitry.

Would this alone be the cause of your observed lag? No. Unless there is something wrong with the keyboard, maybe an off timed scan of the keyboard buffer. But more likely would be a keylogger...

The 20 fps is not constant - it is when there are many people around but I get graphical lags anyway and with the above spec it should be 60fps with vertical sync on.

Your Power Supply may not be up to snuff, recommend a 750W or better with isolated power for the video power cord assemblies.

Something like this hec XP1080 800W from Newegg

  4. johnhughthom: Yes I see the list of stories for each of these. However there is no "Found" indicator nor any other way for me to check in-game which ones I have completed. The game should not force people to seek this information outside of the game. I've been using SWTOR spy's walkthroughs on the particularly hard datacrons, however what if such a site as SWTOR spy did not exist in the first place? Or any other site for that matter. We just wouldn't know.

And this is not just a problem with Datacrons but all of the "discoverables".

If you have no Codex entry for a datacron then you have not found that datacron. How do you know if your missing one, there would be a break in the numbering sequence. If SWTOR spy did not exist someone would create a site like it.

  5. I have all the datacrons except the +10; I'm bugged for this one, says I need more experience, I am level 50 and completed Chap 3, but it is bugged also. I can say without a doubt that jumping in this game is infuriating. I also believe the Devs were either on drugs or are evil when they placed some of the datacrons, ;) The +10, the Jawa Balloon 36 minutes..., the Rakata Energy cubes, Willpower on Taris, Aim in the Lava Pit on Belsavis... I also run guild events for the datacrons.

The datacrons are extra, they are meant to be difficult to get, and definitely are not necessary. They are meant as a reward for going the extra mile, for exploring your surroundings. So use a guide, that is why they are called guides, solve the puzzle, figure out the jumps and the datacron shall be yours.

As the U.S. Marines often say, "Improvise, Adapt and Overcome".

  6. Character Name: Ujest

    Legacy Name: Shurly

    Ujest Shurly (U Jest Surely)

From my EQ days (2004 - 2009), and Ujest has been in every MMO I have played since.

  7. As to they made early MMOs to match D&D or other pen and paper games you are quite wrong, early D&D didn't have tank and spank, or dedicated classes in the way people think because player strategy and lack of AI encounters didn't mandate it. It is D&D which recently bowed down to the tank and spank game play.

That is not how I remember D&D and AD&D, every group was based on the Tank, Healer, CC/DPS triad. As for the AI aspect I wonder what the DM sitting behind the screen rolling all those dice was for?

  8. no one cares?

Thats right, no one cares except you. Every computer game has clipping, it is to complex and processor intensive to check clipping on every sprite rendered. Besides, unless grossly evident every where, clipping is a minor issue. The only games I remember being free of clipping were ASCII and text based games, every graphical game since the first has had clipping issues.

  9. Runs in my family, already asked my cousin what he thought of it, he said it looks fine. Needs to be MUCH more rapid flashing for any sort of reaction from epileptics.

Never take word of mouth, it can often be honestly given in error, research and you shall learn.

Shedding Light on Photosensitivity, One of Epilepsy's Most Complex Conditions, Giuseppe Erba, M.D., Special to EpilepsyUSA, Epilepsy Therapy Project, February 23, 2006

The flicker of the light source, and the “frequency” at which the light changes. In other words, how many times the light flashes in a second. Generally, flashing lights between the frequencies of five to 30 flashes per second (Hertz) are most likely to trigger seizures. In order to be safe, the consensus recommends that photosensitive individuals should not be exposed to flashes greater than three per second.

Read it for yourself - From the Epilepsy Therapy Project

What may trigger one is often not the same for another.

  10. its a 5min travel with people with decent computers and its a 10min travel for people with crap computers. They need to at least make it so you can mount in all the useless transition phases.

for you people saying that 5 min isnt a lot....I can go outside and run a mile + and when I get back, you would have got from fleet to Ilum. Either that or you seriously need to get lives before you end up like the guy on southpark.

If you can run that fast what are you doing playing computer games, you should be training for the Olympics. Hell that is just one minute slower than Roger Bannister and those that followed him in breaking the Four_minute Mile

  11. Actually, there are two ways to get there; one is through a valley in the middle of the map and the other is through a tunnel that comes out near the Republic end of the above mentioned valley.

As a side note, you can get to the Republic areas on most maps that have Republic areas, just have to be curious and explore...

  12. i started with EQ's launch... you want to talk about Content...

Granted this wasnt out when it was launched......

However look at this zone list....

    http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/zlvlchart.html

This is what i loved about EQ... if i got sick of leveling in one area, there was atleast 5 different areas i could go level

You did not check your link before hand. That chart goes to lvl 95 (current EQ). Original EQ went to level 50, with three continents (I think Antonica, Odus and Faydwer). In SWTOR terms a Continent equals a faction sector with attendant sub-sectors. Since SWTOR has 4 faction sectors (Republic, Hutt, Imperial, non-aligned). SWTOR has about the same amount, if not a bit more, than original EQ.

Thus you are trying to compare Apples to Oranges.

p.s. EQ has been out since 1999, it has been running for 14 years, thus it will have more content than most any other MMORPG. The obligatory Wikipedia link to support my statements EverQuest

  13. What do you mean? US taxes are done by the government not the company! Yes the company is the one charging you the tax on their product but that is because they are forced to by the state and federal government laws.

Maybe i missunderstand the point of your post though!

No, governments make and enact tax laws, and in the law they require the business to collect the tax as part of the sale, and then to pay the collected tax to the state at regular intervals. Now the business can, and is often required, to keep the tax revenues in a separate non-interest bearing account.

OOPS, just read, carefully, the quoted post and the poster is sort of correct. The company is not charging you the tax, they are just collecting it for the government.

  14. How exactly do they charge you? If you're using game card or paypal? Do they charge your credit card?

You pay the tax at the Point of Sale (PoS). Thus, if you live in a state that does not charge a tax for a subscription to an MMO, but does charge tax for the sale of a time card at your local game store, you do pay a tax on the MMO Time Card sale and thus on the MMO. However, it is just a one time tax, payed at time of sale, and not charged every month.

Now you buddy, he purchased a subscription on the Internet and paid with a credit card, since you both live in a state that does not tax Internet sales he gets to play with out paying a tax on his subscription.

At least in the US, any tax paid has to be listed separately and clearly, by law, on the sales receipt. There are exceptions to this, such as when the tax is included in the advertised price, such as with gasoline (petrol, Benzine). I don't think that is the same in some EU Countries and in some other countries around the world.

    Ain't chance fair....

  15. Well, am I supposed to post videos for every single person that has issues? There is **** load of videos on youtube with people who are having major issues. There is also a lot of people in my guild/server that are having the same issues. Just because the majority doesn't have issues doesn't mean that the minority should suffer.

That's like BioWare saying "We don't care"

No listing of other processes running, no on screen indication of frame rates, no technical specs of system(s), to include the HDD. Insufficient information provided to know if there is a problem. No way to determine if it is a problem of software and which piece of software, or hardware or a compatibility issue.

  16. How can BW be responsible for a players choice?

You want BW to fix something that is not broken.

You want BW to make your decisions for you?

If you were a Sociologist or a Psychologist you could do a study of choices people make in race or faction choices in character creation in playing MMORPGs. Then you could post your report here and we all would know that the imbalance is due to the choice of the games players and BW can really do nothing about it.

  17. Title is self-explaining...

Although I understand this only affects a limited number of players, why the hell can't a dude /wave /dance /cheer /incoming without it breaking stealth?

It's really annoying, and I'm afraid to dare ask the game mechanic behind this "design choice".

Hope I'm not alone thinking this is totally daft.

Well maybe it is because many emotes are an action drawing attention to yourself; such as wave, jump, dance, shout, etc. While some emotes do not, such as sit, sleep and so on. Drawing attention increases the likely hood of you failing a does it see me check

Stealth is not an invisibility; stealth just means you are taking actions to reduce your observability. Actions such as hiding behind a wall, a thick bush, keeping to shadows, blending in to the background, etc.

  18. Same things happened to me twice, was killing mobs, i have no interest in PvP and all of a sudden a bunch of republic's appeared and started wailing on me...its been happening now two days in a row.

I've sent a ticket into BW obviously they will just ignore it, i have no interest in PVP at all, I'm on a PVE server. Keeps happening I'll simply unsub and leave.

You may have gone through or were in an area that automatically flags you for PvP. These areas begin on Nar Shaddaa. All planets after Nar Shaddaa have them. You may have missed the scrolling red text, in the middle of your screen, telling you, you are about to be flagged for PvP in 10, 9, 8, 7, ... seconds.
