  1. Combat definitely parses about 100-200 DPS more than watchman on the dummy. In all honesty, watchman is very difficult to use in some of the Nightmare fights in Scum and Villainy. No matter what I did, I was not able to keep stacks up during titan 6, and its also difficult to keep up for oolok and ops chief.

Difference is that there is no armor debuff for watchman on a dummy. Also the difference isn't 100-200 dps, and probably more like 50-75 dps. In raids assuming both specs are played optimally both should pull about the same dps assuming there is an armor debuff present.

  2. Combat sentinels pull some of the highest DPS numbers in the game.

Easily the highest among true melee dps with the only class that can trump them being

snipers/gunslingers and scoundrels/operatives. I'd say combat is a fairly straightforward spec to play decently but a fairly difficult one to play optimally. On our server there are probably only a few combat sentinels that actually know how to play the spec optimally. You can see who knows what they are doing by the crit% on blade storm, it should be 100% if done correctly.

  3. Yes, I am using a power proc relic. I don't see why I cant spec into merciless zeal, other classes can take advantage of self heals(watchman and balance consulars), should we also not allow them to post here?? I do not think its is fair that watchman sentinels can fully take advantage of this ( I don't think the developers have acknowledged this as a bug). Also, the Harbinger thread has allowed this double proc.

    Edit:

After more thought, I am taking down my parse. But I do think we need to address that some classes can take advantage of this bug

There is nothing wrong with putting points into merciless zeal. What you fail to realize is that you have gained power surge 16 times within a 5 min span. You got one extra power surge proc that was due to your heals when it really should have already been locked out due to being procced by dmg. It may be true the devs have not acknowledged this as a bug but it is clearly in violation of the tooltip description for the relic. Furthermore I also don't think watchman sentinels, consulars, or gunslingers should be allowed to post as well if they are using the serendipitous assault relic and are also utilizing self heals.

Here is the parse I'm referencing FYI: http://www.torparse.com/a/407310/time/1378024322/1378024623/0/Overview

  4. Are you using the Power Proc Relic?

It is bugged and the proc off of dmg and heals does not share a lockout.

I know you are combat but you have put points into merciless zeal which heals you when you crit on your burns.

If you want to use those relics then you can't spec into merciless zeal.

  5. Are you linking to the 2836 one? Not to shatter your dreams but (rather for some clarification on rules), that's also considered a false start I believe, by my understanding of this threads rules - you started with a full stack of annihilator. Gorband on the other hand did not (quick look at the lower start of the line graph having a steady climb is what to look for on that).

Then by this logic focus stacking is also against the rules.

Maybe it's because I'm tired but it looks like Beastfury's parse is pre focus stacked as he doesn't

use battering assault until about 15 seconds into the parse. Perhaps some clarification would be good here.

  6. Where exactly in forum rules did it say bosses had to be killed in any sort of order? (Oh that is right it does not).

You can asterisk anything you want, but it again just comes down to DnT: 4, Hoth: 1, everyone else 0.

I never said that they didn't kill the bosses first.

Whether or not the community respects them is a different story.

  7. Thank you.

Out of curiosity, what's your take on the Dread Guard skipping?

I personally don't care if a guild decides to skip, as this is a game.

However, if you decide to participate in a competitive community driven forum thread, it would be best to get the approval of the community before skipping a boss. Personally since D&T participated in this forum I feel that should not have skipped and by doing so DQ'd themselves on the last 3 bosses until next week. However their kills are still world first but an * will always be by those world first kills in the minds of those that are against skipping.

  8. Fair enough.

I do find the petty sniping towards D&T more than a little silly.

Debate the issue of skipping bosses, but to sneer and call D&T "casual" is just unneeded.

Edit: Incidentally, when you say "do more research", what are you referring to? I was unable to find any mention of their running NM TfB in the main progression thread, in the ToFN sub-forum, or on their website.

  9. @ Khevar I feel like you are missing the point people are trying to make.

Originally it showed that G'reggy was not locked out but had the achievement.

There has not been any reported issues with the achievement that is awarded from the HM Styrak fight.

I don't feel like posting new screen shots this week will end the matter.

Obviously G'reggy has completed HM Styrak, he has the achievement.

The fact that one person in your group doesn't have the achievement should have been mentioned earlier

as now it looks like you were being deceitful. The original poster from your guild never mentioned that group

member achievements were bugged. This is an honor system and people may be more likely to suspect any future posts that come from your guild from now on. The fact that Thorazine found evidence that your guild omitted in the first place is the largest problem.

  10. again you really have to know every fight and all the mechanics and there isn't much wiggle room. knowing the fights is absolutely mandatory to complete it. the majority of players don't know the fights. so either the majority of the player base needs to L2P - would be nice but good luck enforcing that - or make it easier or take it off the daily. repair bills, wipes, frustration and rage quits aren't worth some terribad loot drops and a few basic comms

Scum and Villany SM and toborro's courtyard SM are both easier than LI - i make this statement as I can heal and keep the whole raid up fine for both of those, yet there's no way to keep 3 pugs up in LI if they don't stand in exactly the right place, move perfectly every time, and follow the strat exactly.

8 and 16 man raid operations shouldn't be easier than one lvl 50 FP.

Try healing through Thrasher's roar when the off tank decides he doesn't feel like taunting or a dps that brings the fire bug in the whole group. Also try healing through the howling sandstorm when no one activates the shield generator or picks up a personal shield from the vender. Try healing a whole raid group that doesn't want to hide behind a rock during launch on TItan 6. S&V SM is not easier than LI. You're probably just playing with better players on your Operation runs than a random PUG in GF. GF PUG are usually much worse than people that are trying to PUG a raid. A

  11. the issue is hardly anyone knows the fights. at the time it came out it was mega hard and the loot drops sucked compared to the effort so most people - unless they were masochists or some sort of achievement chasers or just had to do every daily every day, avoided LI like the plague.

even after 2.0 the instance is too difficult and the loot drops are still underwhelming (lvl 50 blue melee tank gear with defense and alacrity? FTW) to say the least regardless of gear, considering the majority of players avoid it. it's full of rage quits and wipes and no progress.

the funniest thing is the final boss genuinely is easy which further lends support to the "it's not tuned properly" argument. the first boss should not be more difficult than the final boss.. it's raid development 101 haha.

at the least take it off the daily random /lfg quest. LI is by far the most frequent "in-progress" FP that i get zoned into, and there are some days that regardless of what alt i decide to play on it's the only FP that will pop and the dps que's are anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour or more generally.

I do not think that LI should be nerfed any further.

It's already been nerfed and nerfing it further would take any requirement of skill and awareness that the instance

still has. Yes a group finder group still may have problems with it but that goes to show you how many people are clueless. I honestly think they should just scale this to 55, would solve a lot of these issues.

  12. I don't think it has to be 5 minutes; so long as everyone uses the same time frame. If that where to be 10 minutes or 7 minutes and 27.34 seconds it wouldn't matter to me. The point is, you can cut the log where you want to inflate the numbers.......that should not be happening (see my example above regarding golf for reason as to why it matters on a list such as this).

I guess it depends on the goal of the thread.

I feel like trimming the parse to where you like gives less variability as people will post their highest dps.

If you are asking for ball park average numbers that a spec will pull over x amount of time then I would agree with you.

However that still doesn't prevent people from timing their biggest hits to land right at that time mark and inflating their dps.

If I understand your goal then I don't think setting a fixed time period will completely solve the problem although it would deflate dps numbers and be a better representation of what a class can pull.

I guess it depends on what you want to see.
