  1. Eh 3K + respondents is plenty "community" in terms of sample size. In fact, most university studies don't approach those numbers. Just listen to the ppl and give us back our godlings. http://strawpoll.me/5841131/r
  2. Had this happen, unlocked 2 armours, didn't work, but coins were deducted. Got an error message + try again later, coins refunded about an hour later, tried again, worked.
  3. I run smooth as hell with zero jaggies... But I have all my shadows nerfed, zero grass, and 75 trees Otherwise I enabled SGSSAA using the following thread: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=591313 Only difference besides what I posted was I did not enable Texture Filtering Negative LOD bias (all that does is make things look super shiny, insane on armor, didn't like it on jedi robes) BTW this thread advises using NVidia inspector and thats what I use. Game looks like a persistent screenshot now.
  4. Hope they nerf companions into the ground outside of solos. Back in the day when this game first went live, you got used to re-spawning.
  5. Disclaimer: I feel as if this critique of early access is nuanced enough that it warrants a separate thread from the other more 'emotional' complaints. I understand early access, and I fully agree that those who have been subbed during the entire period should absolutely be privy rewards as you see fit, however there are a few lessons that you (Bioware) should take away from this exercise other than 'the have not's are complaining.' 1. Clear messaging. I have seen the defenders of early access defend the wording of the terms and conditions as obvious and easily understandable by anyone with a decent command of the English language. I have a PhD and I am published, and I will have to say that the terms and conditions of early access, in particular the dates, lend themselves to several interpretations. I wont waste time going over that here, as I am convinced that you are aware of this, as it is only in your most recent blurbs about the launch of KoTFE did you go out of your way to break down explicitly who was eligible. Also setting the first date all the way back to August 10, most people were now coming back to SWTOR, enjoying the 7 free days and THEN resubbing. So that first date was way too early to reward guys returning to the game IMHO. 2. Early access rewards and gated group content is fine. Gated story content is not. I am fine with you giving away as many shinys as you like as early access rewards.....mounts, cosmetics, gear, I really do not care as it has no impact on my experience of your product. I earn enough money that I can hit the cartel market repeatedly until it drops what I want, so exclusive items don't bother me one bit. Like the World of Warcraft chopper mounts that are no longer available for example. No let us address this gated story content. What has really made this week especially difficult is dodging all of the story spoilers in game and in this particular forum, especially when it comes to thread titles. So what this does is it pushes me to frequent the sub reddit nearly exclusively until Tuesday, as reddit does a significantly better job of protecting their viewership from spoilers. While I wait, I choose to level some alts and give the new 4.0 mechanics a go. However I also have to turn off general chat (by clicking the Other tab) and basically ignore the community and trolls as spoilers just constantly roll on the general chat feed. Who ever thought this was a good idea? Sure there are many early access games....but for an FPS experience like Battlefront, that does not matter, as playing an early access multiplayer map does not ruin the experience for those accessing it 2 weeks later. You could have even gated the new solo FPs, or any kind of group content you liked, as it would have been harmless while rewarding those who qualified. Conclusion: The consequences of Early Access for "everyone else". In effect what this has done is not reward the subscribed faithful, but actually penalize everyone else. You have forced many of us to actively avoid and change the way we interact with SWTOR and its community just to avoid spoilers which end up getting through anyway. Come next reset, I will be strolling into new story content, painfully aware of semi- and full spoilers, which ultimately reduces my enjoyment of what I am paying for. Does that seem fair or even reasonable? I urge you to reconsider this style of reward the next time around. Respectfully.
  6. Quick question: Since all gear is cosmetic, are weapons also simply cosmetic? As in can we just stick our favorite CM empty weapon shells on companions without mods / crystals? (well maybe crystals for color preference)
  7. I killed shadows, turned off grass, set trees to 75% MOST importantly I downloaded NVIDIA inspector and followed the following thread (you may want to try it with default setting first) http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=591313 Only thing I did not do was enable Texture Filtering Negative LOD bias (making armor super shiny) That above thread now has my SWTOR running super smooth (60+) and looks like a constant still image. Zero jaggies. I have a GTX 980 + 16G
  8. Only plan on playing 1 empire toon from this point in and its a BH. He will probably kneel as it is the surest path to breathing for another day while earning creds. Mako might not like it, but she knows the boss always has a plan. However, he will be looking for an opportunity to shoot Valkorion in the back between now and the end of KotFE. My republic team does not kneel. Come what may.
  9. I'll admit, I was somewhat disappointed to learn that its quite possible Valkorion is our beloved ever-returning Emperor. Got that ****** feeling (like back in my Blizzard days) that ONCE AGAIN...we rally the troops to fend off the same old dude who we have been fighting (directly or through proxies) for the past few expansions. BW, in my personal opinion....let the Emperor go man....appoint a new one, I don't care, but I do not want to feel locked into this path dependent conflict with the same enemy in different forms. Its a tad lazy and lacks creativity. I honestly hope I eat humble pie by the end of 4.0 HOWEVER, if 4.0 is the actual death of the Emperor for real, then I am more than happy to go once more into the breach.... If Valkorion ends up not being the Emperor, then even better, but everyone is speculating its pretty much guaranteed. This may have possibly popped up in previous threads that I did not catch, but just was wondering if the luster of a new expac was dimmed by prospects of facing ol red-mist once again...
  10. I'm a day 1, beta guy, however my number is 2M .....what bs
  11. Irony - The guy playing an MMORPG complaining about boring dialogue.......in a 19 paragraph monologue.

'Horses for courses' mate. General chat is hardly the place to expect high calibre intellectual exchanges. I have found Red Eclipse really helpful as I am a returning founder, however you will realize the most fruitful convos will happen in private when General feels like reverting back to the usual ***-hattery. The forums are MUCH more tolerant and you will find the thinkers in here (most of the time), which when I think about it defeats the purpose of an MMO but hey....its what we got right now.
  13. Jugg is more like a Viking where the Guardian is more of a Samurai in their combat demeanor. Also the Jugg has force scream where the guardian does his anime style power slash thing. You get the picture (hopefully). As a big MA and all things Japanese culture fan, I prefer Guardian. Even the difference in how they regen between combat describes their styles perfectly.
  14. Which is odd considering we have some of the most unlikely, faction swapping companions. So lore breaking definitely cannot be the rationale.
  15. Played Jugg to 51, then played a Guardian to 60. Jugg is a more brutal character in his animations and appearance. I love the crap out of that class concept. HOWEVER without getting into spoilers, for RP reasons I re-rolled Guardian. What I will say its a whole lot easier to play a more 'unforgiving' guardian than playing trying to create a more 'honorable' Jugg if you are shooting for a middle of the road kinda guy.
  16. Ok so say BW does not want to outright sell faction change, but I don't think It would be a far stretch to develop a faction change DLC pack where you get to actually play through class specific faction change....would be quite interesting, and a whole lot easier to have unique companion mixes now that they are all just placeholder polygons. Would it be worth their while economically and logistically? I dunno. I would pay a £5 premmium. Per class.
  17. Ok cool, good to know I was not the only one. I have legitimately deleted 3-4 toons sub-level 20 just because the appearance wasn't quite right.
  18. Title says it all. Do you have pick a certain time of day? Do you feel pressure to create it quickly during that window that the name is 'available'? Do you practice create in the character creator before you delete the toon reserving the name? lol I know this sounds all trivial but I cannot be the only one. Also will the character creator values be the same in KOTFE? As in will the number 5 head right now still be the same number 5 head in 4.0?
  19. Ok so I am going to jump in here while this thread is still alive. I have read many similar threads, and I am still plagued with the choice of either playing with a cannon wielding gunnery (I hate the cannon also) or vanguard tactics. Full disclosure I already have a 60 Arsenal BH that I absolutely have a blast with. I want to roll a commando as one of my 60's come KOTFE with a spec-opish feel, hence the blaster rifle fetish. So the choice comes down to playing gunnery and try to find a discreet (as possible) cannon, and hopefully the animations and stance grows on me OR roll a tactics, and have the look but not the feel....and be disappointed because I spend all day cracking enemies over the head with the butt of my rifle. So to those who have played a tactics vanguard, I know its close range....but does it really end up feeling like a melee class? or does it have a range-ish feel that will satisfy until BW makes a change? Also how is mobility on gunnery vs tactics vanguard? Thanks for the advice, because I really don't want to start new content with a class I end up parking on the select screen.
  20. Ok I understand what you are saying. Yeah, well less opportunities to experience content is never good. Well they could offer to let us run with 3 companions
  21. This was probably answered in the last 229 pages, but I do not get the over-leveling argument. I have played more MMOs than most here I am sure, and the ONLY time I have experienced face-roll levels of over-leveling is during the SWTOR 12x XP period. Every other game, including this one, you are pretty much within 1-2 levels of zone content AT MOST. So what is the big deal here? Bioware already announced that storyline will allow you to level without side missions. Is it a question of difficulty then? Or is it a question of farming low zones at level cap?
  22. The opposite to this guy. I already have one Jedi Knight (Guardian) married to a companion he likes, so the second Jedi Knight will be a Sentinel, ex Darth with ZERO affection for past Jedi companions. He will use KTOFE as his chance to defect, that way I can solely focus on the new companions and pretty much pretend I never had the old ones, because according to my lore, I never did.
  23. As I am sure others have said...WoW did it, hasn't broken that game in the least. Previous campaign cap toons are perfectly fine for those who are not interested in that class' story and want to jump right in or have to manage their time and cant be bothered to level YET another alt or want to play same class, different advanced class. I am sure there are many other legit / personal reasons. Me personally, I shall be using my free 60 and buying one more for lore reasons. I don't want to be attached to current companions, and thus want to give the new ones my full attention without any guilt. Sounds silly, but its an option BW has graciously accorded me.
