  1. no it doesnt bug out, if you use WW while your in DC, then your ww doesnt break on dmg, and the target takes 75% less dmg.

I don't know what prompted you to post that, but that's simply not true.

90% of the time, it breaks on damage as intended. There are no passive abilities or talents that say 'whilst dark charge is active, whirlwind does not break on damage and the target takes 75% less damage'. If that's the case people would be eating full-length whirlwinds all the time considering the majority of shadows/assassins are in the tank stance.

If anything it's to do with the talent that makes it instant cast but also cause a stun when broken.

    ---

Now after a quick search, you said here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=4856863

its not that its "broken" it was an old talent in the darkness tree that is still there, wich basicly makes your ww target take 75% dmg, but then it doesnt break. They changede the tooltip, but not the talent, I dont remember wich talent it was though :S

I have an assassin myself, I have played a full tank spec, and I have encountered this happen first hand but not reliably. You cast whirlwind, it doesn't break on damage. In the same match i've used it again and it has broken on damage. Now if it's a relic from a previous talent, it seems it wasn't fully removed.

  2. whirlwind heals the target

    Not in PvP.

Whirlwind and lift sometimes bug out, causing you to stay mezzed whilst you're taking damage, but the damage you do receive is greatly reduced.

So if he was in whirlwind for the duration of the fire and it didn't break, he was taking reduced damage.

  3. Well, if you have some cash (and alts) I'd create a Bank toon. Buy the GTN for your ship along with a mailbox on it. The GTN is going to become available for both sides next patch. I know a lot of folks from other MMO's who actually found crafting and selling on the GTN fun. There's always buying out and reselling for more profit too.

You're referring to cross-faction GTN right? What era are you living in? That already happened with 1.3.

  4. They have always needed to make world player kills reward Valor, and Comms...Its silly that they didnt do that from the begging....

Especially when they even said you'd get Mercenary Commendations for OWPvP

  5. You make a valid point, however at the end of a loss I don't like to see "healers" doing 300+k healing against 8 targets? How did you heal that much and only downed 8 dudes?!? Seriously?!? This is what I am seeing more and more of especially in PUGs! The healer sits on the owned node and consumption heal themselves and get the occasional incoming which they call out so people come help kill the one or 2 guys attacking.

Now I understand its a PUG and should not be taken at face value but numbers or so mislieading and when someone goes to vote for MVP and sees "Oh man that guy did 300+k heals he deserves the MVP" when they didn't look at the kills stat. We had a healer pull 6 MVP votes for doing 400k heals against 12 guys! That was everyone but me voting for them!

It's very easy to have high healing numbers (300k+) and only have less than 10 kills when your team is terribad and not going for enemy healers and thus cant kill anyone. Unfortunately I encounter this a lot, and I don't sit off in a corner and continually NS myself and heal - that's just asking for a Hidden Strike and a quick death (which I love to do on my Scoundrel/Operative).

NS is great for when I get thrown into all those losing warzones which are just about to end and I NS myself enough to get a 5k heal off giving me 2 medals (2.5k and 5k heal) so I don't end up with 0's across the board. (Loading into a warzone just to see the defeat scoreboard with all 0s or loading into a huttball where you're waiting to be let out of the spawn but see the ball carrier about to score the last goal is not fun!)

On topic however, I do agree that the PvE set bonus is much more appealing, especially the 8second CD on Healing Trance. The regen on NS from the PvP set is negligible but would be more advantageous from a PvE perspective.

The two most important bonuses however are the 2-set bonuses on both the PvE and PvP sets which luckily you can mix to get both and is quite effective.

  6. Why do the fire grates in huttball look so weird in your video? Is it because your graphics settings are way down or something?

So weird, I was thinking the exact same thing.

It can't be due to graphics settings, everything for me is the lowest possible and mine still look 'normal'.

  7. If you didn't notice - at 2:20 he mouse overs a skill that isn't currently in the game

    Unnatural Preservation

    Instant

    30 sec cooldown

    No force cost

Immidietly restores 1548 (level 21) health on you. Cannot be used on others.

One thing we definitely need, a decent heal usable on the move!

  8. The whole thing about the Dirty Kick animation bugging out when 'getting up' doesn't even happen.

Now if we're going to talk about that, Guardians/Juggernauts Force Push takes forever to stand up afterwards and you start rubberbanding back to where you were pushed for a few seconds. Not like you should use a CC breaker after a push, but if you were to, you also aren't able to move freely, you continue to rubberband back to where you were pushed and effectively get nowhere.

Scoundrels are fine... Operatives on the other hand...!

  9. No, not really.

If little things like this happened on a much regular basis, making it feel like something is going on all the time in-game, then yes.

But if it's just a poorly implemented week-long fetch quest to numb the blow from a F2P announcement and to tide us over until 'true content' is released, then no.

  10. Personally I like the Togruta more, but if Bioware decided to add something like a Rodian I would have been ok with it, it's an iconic species, there are a bunch of SWG fans that miss their Rodian character, I would have said "Ok, that's not the species I wanted, but I realize many people do want it" but Cathar? Really Bioware? My opinion, but I think they are disconnected from their playerbase and Star Wars fans in general if they can't figure out what are the favorite species in the SW universe.

Well as I said, Cathar is the safe option due to no clipping issues and no odd head shapes. So in BW's eyes, even if they were or were not a popularly requested species, they feel that adding something - anything, is enough to appease the crowd. I do believe that new species will not be a regular occurence, especially considering the rate we've seen other content being churned out. Sure, other games don't see new species or races implemented until a new expansion or whatever is released and races are made out to be a big thing. In the Star Wars universe though there are a vast majority of species, allowing for a species to be implemented in a mini-update with minimal fuss but would be well received and feel like the game is more alive.

Currently, all we'll see is Cathar, basically a human with fur and we won't see another species for maybe a year. You may be right about BW being out of touch, especially when they said 'if new species are well received and something the community want more of we will definitely begin to look at more options'. Of course people want more species to play as in an MMO and currently this game is lacking in the character customisation deaprtment especially in regards to species, when placed in relation to the Star Wars universe as a whole.

I fully understand the need for a humanoid type main character, but i'm sure (and i'm not big-up on my Star Wars background/lore) there are so many more species available that are unique, yet still fall under a humanoid-esque category.

  11. While I could understand that others might like the creature handler type advanced class, it would personally drive me insane having to look at all the pets inside a warzone. Im not a pet person(in the game, I've got my puppies and thats the only creatures I want to deal with)

For hypothetical sake lets just say the do implement it, and it's automatically a FOTM class because its *shiny* and new.

You imagine that first warzone you hop into thats 8 CH vs 8 CH...... How many targets do you really want to deal with in small scale areas that we currently have. How many pets do you want to chase around in huttball or the middle of ACW. That 8 vs 8 just turned into 16 vs 16 or more inside a map designed for 8 vs 8.

Im not against new classes by any means, and I hope at some point they intend to add a new class here and there. I just have my reservations about them and the impact it would have on the current game mechanics.

my personal choice would be a buff/debuff type class. The advanced class you would choose would be either to buff or to debuff. The 3 skill trees would be broken down into healing buffs/debuff - damage buffs/debuff - defensive buffs/debuff

Pet classes are always my favourite! (not the hunter-esque type though) but I highly doubt they would ever be included in TOR especially seeing as we have companions following us 90% of the time.

Also realistically and unfortunately I don't think TOR will see a new class for several years - providing the game is even around by then.

Though if it were to happen, a buff/debuff type would be nice.

  12. I have a problem. I'm on the Ebon Hawk Server, and missing only 1 piece out of the 6 for Vandrayk's item. But unfortunately, people are camping at the smuggling crates to grab the tokens. How am I supposed to get the sixth piece if people are taking the crates before I can get 'em? It takes me a long time to actually find the crates, and then I arrive to find someone camping there? Why do people do this? How can I find the last piece?

One of the better places i've found is in Network Security. There are elevators to 'Upper Office Atrium' and other areas where the main quest does not take you. There's also a Heroic area around the many sub-sections of Network Security which has quite a few crates in there.

I was driving around all these places all by myself when I was looking for my final piece - which took far too many crates to open.

It also helps of course to come back at an odd hour.

  13. Again, i'd just like to reiterate and hopefully get a response about the new PvP gear that will be released along with the new WZ.

Will the new gear require a War Hero shell for the trade-in? And if so, will it require the specific shell as it works currently: Field Medic > Field Medic rather than Field Medic > Enforcer.

I'm 98% sure that the system will remain as is and require the previous War Hero piece, though it would be nice for some clarification on the matter as i'm wondering if it's worth transferring my War Hero mods from my Scoundrel to my Operative, although if a War Hero piece is needed for the next set of gear, there's not much point bothering.

  14. Sometimes I do this on my Scoundrel and Operative when i'm playing Scrapper/Concealment.

Seeing as people know i'm there after the initial pass, I pass the time by repeatedly killing Sorcs and Sages that run out. I killed one Sage 5 times each time he came out because he was so deliciously squishy in his recruit gear, before he respawned with 3+ people.

  15. It's Cathar because they're the 'safe' option. The models will have no issues with clipping (well, aside from general clipping TOR issues we have anyway), unlike, say Togruta even though they too are already in game. Don't know why that would stop them though, seeing as they just get round the issue with Twi'leks by disabling hoods altogether and full face helmets making your lekku disappear completely.

I'm just glad they're actually adding *something*. Like everything else though, new races isn't going to be a regular occurence even if the current selection are rather underwhelming - Cathar included.

  16. Actually he is correct proper kill order for dps is weak mobs first. strong mobs. gold. then champion. Tanks job is to grab up the reverse order. Reason being taking out the smaller mobs first reduces incoming damage on the tanks makeing the healers job easier. Killing the small adds first makes the tanks job easier by not having to chase the mobs all over the area.

If you are a healer and freaking out about the little bit of damage the dps takes while doing it the right way. relax it wont kill them.

And dps should top themselves off between pulls as should the tank.

Shame not everyone does this though. The tank runs in and attacks an elite, the dps run in and attack the elite. And i'm left with healer-aggro of 3 weaks and 2 strongs all shooting at me.

I shouldn't have to ask to taunt or get aggro off me.

  17. Well, they just posted that this event ends on Tuesday.

For those of us newer players/casual players, it means we are getting shafted on this one.

I haven't had the time to try running but a few of the missions, and so haven't saved up enough to get anything yet.

Why would BW spend so much time coding/testing an event like this, and then have it last only about a week long?

Shouldn't huge events like this persist for at least two or three weeks?

Especially considering some of the missions have days long timers on them, if you haven't started those in time you're just stuck!

BW cites the reason as feedback, but I haven't seen overwhelmingly negative feedback, and a lot of the feedback in this thread was positive.

Of course, as soon as they post that they locked that thread, so no chance to respond there....

Alot of the rewards looked pretty neat, and I was looking forward to getting some of them.

    Oh well.....

Are we playing the same event here :rak_02:

  18. I talked to David Hunt (Systems Designer), and he shed some light upcoming gear. He said that (for PvE), Terror from Beyond's Hard Mode will include a new set of gear that is a sub-tier of the larger tier that started with Campaign gear. It will also have non-slot restricted armornings. Nightmare Explosive Conflict will speed up the acquisition of the new set and provides new challenges for Operation groups.

For PvP, new mainhand and offhand items will become available from the PvP vendors when Terror from Beyond is released. These will be included so PvP players don't feel the need to get the hilts and barrels from PvE items to get the highest weapon damage in some cases. The rest of the set will release when Ancient Hypergates becomes available. We also have plans to release a new Recruit MK-2 set.

Thanks for the response. Will these new PvP items require Ranked Warzone comms and the corresponding War Hero piece? (ie. War Hero Force-Mystic Chestpiece for New Gear Force-Mystic Chestpiece) Are there any plans to open up the gear trading sytem to allow a Force-Master > Force-Mystic conversion rather than needing a specific piece?

    Also...

Terror from Beyond's Hard Mode will include a new set of gear that is a sub-tier of the larger tier that started with Campaign gear.

    What... :rak_02:
