  1. I've thought before about territory PvP as a more prominent factor of this game. I think it would work really well if there were planets with more territorial battle happening that actually changes based on open world PvP performance. Republic bases become Imp bases and vice versa.

wintergrasp/tol barad worked well for wow -- fighting for control on a territory that granted you access to resources (in wow's case, raid bosses that gave you gear).

something directly similar or a spin off would be great.

  2. the problem with this game is they're trying to make subscription and f2p models work side-by-side. it won't. f2p players will always be second-class players even if they outspend that subscribers $15/month spending.

the f2p model is supposed to give you the flexibility of spending money only on things that you want, anytime you want. make every penny count. it shouldn't punish you for not wanting to spend at a given time.

either go full subscription model, or go full f2p model. not both.

  3. you can't explore the game's worlds completely:

    - you can't visit the opposing faction's capital

    - you can't visit the opposing faction's levelling area (phased)

    - you have lots of invisible walls in planets

    - no light and day cycle

    - you have a lot of NPCs that are not targetable and just there for fluff

  4. I played wow for years, but I never really understood why Blizzard allowed addons in the first place. It is understandable that the original ui of wow was lacking, which is where addons improved. However, wow has addons for raiding and pvp, which trivialize many raid mechanics with their boss warning or in pvp knowing exactly what ability is being cast on your character by an opponent. Blizzard needs to reduce the amount of control players have with addons. In fact, Blizzard should never have given any control to player about ui interference or have access to combat log. The developers should retain 100 percent of control over the game ui and all facets of the game.

because WoW hardmode raids are really HARD. yes it's the usually just the same old "don't stand in the fire" thing but the way they design fights is what makes it difficult and interesting.

this game doesn't need add-ons for operations because they are so damn easy and even HMs pugged and cleared.

  5.

Geee.. Blizzard hired some guys onto their multi-hundred member team that already was working on an MMO property. They also hired hundreds of consultants in a wide range of knowledge fields to support their development teams too.

Waaaaayyy different then some guys in a gaming forum blustering about how they could make a better MMO and actually selling a business case to venture capitalists and going off and actually doing it.

But hey.... I'll happily wait for the armchair campers here to show me their offer letters from xyz MMO producer. Please to show me said offer letters. Kay, thanx. Not going to hold my breath waiting though... because MMO producers want top talent, not chair warmers. ;)

Even better... please to show venture capital documents for said sold business case for great MMO. Yeah.. not going to hold breath for that one either. :)

hmmm. so you're saying blizzard hired developers, consultants and designers who have no idea with how MMOs work, nor any experience in MMOs, have never participated in any MMO or their communities, didn't at one point become passionate about a game, so they could work on an MMO title. gee whiz, that makes perfect sense!

all blizzard has is money/capital. they rely on talent that have experience with gaming, game development to make their products. that is where their investments go. not unless you think their board of directors, or even their chiefs are the ones directly involved in development.

  6. Actually it already happened more than 10 years ago, and for none other than WOW. So yeah your assertion is false and baseless...

WoW designers : Jeff Kaplan, Rob Pardo, Tom Chilton.

Here's the quote for Kaplan (and Pardo kinda) :

"Kaplan was hired by Blizzard Entertainment because of his former status as the leader of a guild in EverQuest known as Legacy of Steel.[5] The guild was formerly run by Rob Pardo (another game designer at Blizzard Entertainment) and was well known in the EverQuest community for its accomplishments in the game. Kaplan was also known at the time for his various commentaries about EverQuest posted on the website of said guild."

I'm curious to see how you're going to spin this Andryah...

I don't think you'd get a response. She magically disappears every time her arguments based on magical SWTOR unicorn bull **** fails to hold.

  7. Hate to bring common sense into this, but it doesn't do anything to stop the wave. It just delays it by two days. Hence the massive amount of stuff available this weekend.

Though I guess it does reduce the incentive to buy stuff purely to sell, as you'll have to wait a couple days to get your credits. So I guess one could argue it's an attempt to keep the black market credit sellers in business, as they presumably offer instant delivery.

In a way it does. It locks people long enough so that those who are impatient will just rather use the item themselves rather than wait for the lock to expire.

Anything that raises the bar helps I guess.

  8. Well, it is your fault for not reading AND comprehending. :)

That said... put in a ticket... those weapons ARE RARE... and will be quite valuable on the GTN. There is nothing to lose (all they can say is no) and you may get it reset for you.

It's not that people don't comprehend or read, it's how BOUND/BINDING is defined by MMOs.

I think the wording could be made better by just saying that the item is temporarily non-tradable.

  9. I sure do. Came to realise I wasted money on pixels. Well, thats gambling for ya! I expected better pixels (of which I cant touch) that I payed for with real money (that I can actually touch)

you mean you paid for your cartel coins by shoving dollar bills through your screen?

i paid electronically, without touching real money, via paypal. so i guess your logic doesn't apply to me :D

anyway, i'm allotting $40 monthly to cartel coins, on top of my sub.

  10. Resubscribed and reinstalled last night. I was quite hopeful that the population of the AP servers would have gone up after F2P. Sadly, it still hasn't. I'm back to playing on US servers (The Harbinger, which has awesome pop density).

Will the AP servers be merged in as well eventually? I mean back to the US servers?

  11. Not happened.... YET.

And badgering only works.... between two badgers.... and probably only during mating season.

Badgering is already confirmed to not work on Bioware, so you are just going to have to wait on them to release the feature. I hear that QQ is still in fashion.... but also confirmed to not work either. ;)

I really admire your undying loyalty to this crap-of-a-game Andryah. That, I give you credit for.

  12. i'm more curious about the effect this will have on those staying subscribed just for PvP.

won't this lessen the number of people queueing up for WZs (due to ineligibility/capped limits), leading to longer queue times?
