  1. I stopped reading here.

If nobody needs it, then I roll for my companion - as other people do.

Suck it up and don't random group.

that "suck it up and don't random group" thing is plain dumb. last time i checked this is an mmo, and there's an LFG tool in-game too. that means random grouping is encouraged. da*** were you thinking?

the **** people put up with just to defend their fanboyism for this miserable game.

  2. Would ion cell work well with a tactics build?

you'll miss out on HEC-specific bonuses though, like the ammo regen and the increased movement speed (if spec'd into). but yeah, it can work. there are times when in huttball, i switch over to ion when carrying the ball then forget to switch back. only notice it when running alongside others and notice that they can keep up.

  3. You just made the case for common sense to be more meticulously applied in game. ;)

Seriously... it's a multi-player game full of strangers acting with appearance of immunity from the bondages of moral integrity... simply because in the internet they can. No MMO producer can completely safegaurd a game from a lack of common sense on the part of the players.

Trust nobody, suspect everyone........ if you do not actually know them and have an established trust relationship with them. This is as true for an unknown subscriber playing the game as an unknown free player as far as I am concerned. The nature of the the access model does not modify the propensity for human nature to get into deliberate mischief or for victims to grab their ankles and help the process along. ;)

If you can't trust anyone then this just makes the game much harder to play. How do you get crafting done when your friends or guild mates are out? So you roll enough alts to cover all crafting possibilities? That may be an option but it's not for everyone, and definitely not being done by everyone.

In a purely P2P setup, because of that subscription, players are not willing to engage in this type of thing (scamming). With F2P, there's no accountability.

Solve it by having those who were scammed file tickets? That's very manual and piles up quickly because of the openness of F2P. This is a QoL feature that not only benefits the users, but the support team behind the game as well.

  4. 1) File a ticket and get your stuff back. They can track things like that.

    2) If you're actually dumb enough to send things of value to random players, the case could be made that you got what you deserved.

the influx of F2P players will make customer support a nightmare for cases like this.

this wasn't a problem during P2P, as everyone was subscribed and was invested in the game with things to lose. but with the F2P setup, this is not the case.

yeah, common sense is easy to point out as the solution for this. but the game has a hybrid setup where subscribers are mixed with F2P players. you will have players who trust other players and expect everyone to be trustworthy as in a P2P setup (this is never an issue in WoW).

just because things are fine as they are doesn't mean things can't get better. if not we'd all just be happy playing with rocks and jumping over boulders when we're not inside our caves.

  5. as a consequence of this game going F2P, there are now players who go around spamming chat that they can craft stuff for you free if you MAIL them your mats. so you mail them your mats, but they say the mail is bugged and they didn't get them. Them asking you to MAIL the mats is already a give away that the player is an F2P player, hence, has nothing invested in the game, and is only out for a quick-cred-snatch.

what's needed to fix this is a trade-like window for crafting that you can request against a crafter/player.

    A makes a crafting request to B

    crafting window opens

A selects the schematic from B's list (also in the UI)

A puts in the required mats

A puts in a tip (could be mandated by B)

B clicks on the craft button

A gets the crafted gear, B gets the tip

    WIN!

  6. I sit on my ship, and camp the gtn. I have a ton of the purple cc gear that people put up for default gtn prices.

Other than that, you honestly have to have no self control at all if you spend $15 real money on a outfit, or crystal. It's no wonder this country is broke. Too many living here blow through money like it's nothing.

It's not even the $15, it's the principle. You literally get nothing for the money, and keep wasting more money on something insubstantial.

i just spent around $120 on cartel coins last night and i'm satisfied. i play swtor and wow on my free time to unwind if i'm not outside with friends. money you spend on gaming is money you want to spend on gaming, not money you wanted to spend on food or clothing or other necessities. that logic is just simply flawed.

if you don't have the budget to spend on games then by all means, hold out on cartel coins, it's your right, your money, your choice. but for people who has money to spend to enjoy the game, like i said, it's their money, their choice, and their right.

  7. Assault, it just works better for me, way more damage. I don't like pulse cannon, I don't like to stop, I want to stay mobile and do damage, which assault spec gives me.

yeah, assault is still the way to go if you love melting faces. the damage is just awesome right now, especially when you get lucky with HiB reset procs. i just love the splat sound of HiB :D

  8. i think as far as EA is concerned, they gave us what we wanted -- we had our own servers and good pings. the population eventually decreasing isn't really something you can pin on them. it's the gamers that decided to move on to a new server or stop playing.

for me personally, i abandoned the server (Dalborra) after nights of not being able to do heroics, really long PvP queues and couldn't get groups for hard modes.

i'm told that players like me are the root cause of the problem. but this isn't charity work. it's a game that i pay for (i'm a sub and cartel coin purchaser) so i can enjoy some of my free time playing with other people. because of this, i left the server and rolled on the harbinger, leaving behind 3 level 50s.

my real guess here is that EA is waiting for population levels on AP to really dip so they can close down the servers, offering transfers back to the US in the process.

  9. depends on what you want to do. for me, i found tactics to be very interesting. it's not as effective as assault when it comes to burst, but it does offer a lot of other things:

    - increased movement speed

    - 8-second cc immunity every 30 seconds

    - reduced cd on harpoon

    - reduced cd on cryo grenade

    - reduced cd on interrupt

    - powerful pulse cannon that slows

it's really great at controlling things and keeping nodes, even at carrying the ball in huttball.

  10. as tactics, i like trolling healers. keep interrupting them and keeping them busy healing themselves. a healer not healing anyone else is a useless healer.

if no heals to take down, i keep myself busy by helping burning down targets and keeping my taunts and interrupts on CD.

  11. i've played both so far and at the moment, playing assault.

what i like about tactics is the utility it provides. you don't burst down stuff, but you're really great when it comes to staying up unhindered trying to keep a node from being capped, running the ball, or annoying the crap out of healers. the movement speed increase, shortened interrupt cd, shortened harpoon cd, shortened cryo cd, 8-second immunity twice a minute -- it all just reeks of control and utility. really fun to play. oh then there's the pulse canon on steroids.

for assault, well, you burn stuff down. incendiary round being 10m now, it's still farther than gut's 4m. plastique + sticky grenade + incendiary round then the HIB procs (reset it with stockstrike and ion pulse) are just too good in burning people down.

  12. It would be nice to be able to buy cartel items via web/online. Purchased items stay unclaimed or better yet, you could pick to which character's inventory your purchases go.

Not a must, but nice to have. Mobile app (iOS/Android) for this would also be nice, just like WoW's mobile AH tool.

  13. I'm all for this.

    - No cap in the number of warzones you play for F2P

    - You only earn 20% (xp, valor points, commendations) of what subscribers earn per match

This will really revitalize the PvP population since you'll have more people to play with. At the same time, F2P players will be able to learn and improve themselves in PvP since they can play as much as they want.

20% is the tease, and once the competitiveness and addiction to PvP kicks in, they will either buy the earnings booster or subscribe.

  14. It would be great if this was allowed. Right now, you have to buy the entire armour piece to pull out the mods that you want. This is great if you're just in the initial setup phase where you don't have decent gear yet.

The cost doesn't have to be really cheap, some amount of grind is still nice to have as a requirement. The flexibility of being to buy just one enhancement/armoring/mod would be really nice though. The set bonuses for the armoring will be nice too.
