  1. I do not know as I have not activated it. As I do not want to activate it I keep having to hit escape after every load screen as I get a Legacy pop up screen. How can I disable this? I really do not want to start a Legacy and want to opt out of it. ow can this be done?
  2. Good game or not, this game deserves to fail due to it's lack of customer service. Not saying I want the game to fail, not at all. Just saying that it deserves to due to the lack of customer service. It is truly appalling.
  3. Yo are so wrong it hurts. PvE is about gear and progression. I made an extensive post further back in this thread but I guess you didn't read past page 1 and just posted a reply? It does take insane time and effort in this game to get to a point where your stats are balanced when your playing against players who know the BG better than you do and have better gear. There is nothing wrong with knowing the game more (being more experienced) as this is something players can learn. Combining it with gear (players who have played longer already have experience and gear) however makes the game inaccessible to new players. Even if they do learn the game and get to a place where their skill could shine through, it doesn't get a chance to as too many players with no skill but lots of free time already have gear. It is only when the new player eventually gets to the same gear level that the two players are in a balanced environment. This however takes the new player about 3-4 times longer than the player who has been playing for some time however, as this player is playing against geared experienced players. I seriously do not understand the mindset of PvPers who want PvP gear rewards. You know it stops skill showing through, destroys a games balancing, and chokes a game due to no new players joining against those who have played a long time. It makes you get cheap kills and causes entire games to fail when the imbalanc! it causes effects PvE. Yet you still want it? Eventually an expansion will make your gear worthless anyway. Then what? Complain? You were here since the start and played xxx amount of PvP hours.. You DESERVE some better gear to show how long you have been here. At a new expansion the rest of us don't worry about our gear becoming obsolete. We get excited about more content to play doing new stuff. Fighting new battles etc. Gear is a means to an end. The real reason to play is to enjoy playing. Not to show off your gear that MEANS NOTHING OUTSIDE THE GAME! A PvP system with no PvP gear or even better yet, a balanced set of PvP gear all characters get, would benefit all. Players would have skill rewarded not gear. New players would not feel intimidated by unbeatable players who know tacs and have insane gear. If you want PvP rewards make it skins for gear or titles. Vanity items to show off your success but NOT impact the gameplay mechanics.
  4. NO! What most people want is a fair balanced fight where the most skilled combatant comes out on top.
  5. Anyone who feels progression is a valid reason for people to want new gear for PvP needs to realise they are playing the wrong side of the game. Progression is the PvE side. In PvE you have to progress different gear sets to take on harder tiers of content. In this new content your gear is balanced against the harder NPC's. The fun achieved here is the playing of the game and th clearing of the content. The gear only serves to allow you to play more instances with mates. The getting of the gear is not the reward that gives you satisfaction, this comes from clearing the content. the gear is a progressive thing you achieve which allows you to take on more, harder content. To enjoy the process of clearing it. In PvP you play against a player that is different each time. This is not an area for progression based on gear as it is not needed to balance against a new tier of player. If all players have access to the same tier it is balanced. The reward in PvP is outskilling your opponent. To gain victory. The fun of playing and winning. Any player that plays a game to feel good about an in game reward is playing for the wrong reasons. These players don't like new content and raises to level cap as they see it as making their gear worthless. Players who realise the fun of playing the game is not the rewards from gear drops, its the actual playing and defeating content, tend to look forward to expansions etc due to the fact it means more bosses etc to kill. Progression = PvE Skilled combat = PvP
  6. A UI implement with something similar to the Tidy plates: Threat Plates addon on for wow would be awesome. It isn't needed but could be useful. This should be a dev implemented UI change however and not a call for addons.
  7. TBH I only got the game last me until GW2 comes out. Sadly it has not lived up to expectation enough for me to even occupy this role. I am now on he forums only while at work and then I am playing Dark Souls in the evenings. As soon as Diablo 3 is out I will use that to last me until GW2 instead. So for me this game was only ever a gap filler for GW2 and after 2 months, it isn't even that any more.
  8. ROFL. Not a chance at ten years. Even the randomly uber successful WoW has only been 7 years so far. At this point in time no mainstream MMO has lasted 10 years and still been huge. Discworld MUD however has been going since 1991/1992
  9. Your computer is not a fossil. It shocks me how little youngsters today know of computer specs and what is a low powered machine really is. My Amiga A600 has 1MB RAM and even that's loads! . The old Dell I have at home has a 64mb Geforce 3 graphics card that set me back £500 at the time of purchase. Your 5-6 year old machine is NOT a fossil.
  10. As a new player the craft system looked really interesting and engaging. After playing a while it has been revealed to be a complete joke.
  11. Judging by the responses this thread has it seems the community is full of people with too little attention span to read a post beyond 10 words. If this is a true reflection of the community none of the issues you have raised will be an issue, as the community doesn't have the attention span to realise them! That aside your post is 100% on the money. You put across good points backed up with good knowledge of the game developers and their history and backgrounds in the industry. It is a shame your points won't be listed too due to the mass flaming you will get from fanboys, children and those who don't have the attention span to read your OP.
  12. Only problem with waiting 6 months is that other good games are coming out in that time frame too. I only started playing SWTOR due to the fact that there was a time gap until some other games come out. If I wait 6 months I will be locked into either Diablo 3 or Guild Wars 2.
  13. This thread is so laughable. People are picking sides as if this is a sports match and they have to support a team. In this we are all consumers subscribing a service by BW. Most players are enjoying the game. What people are arguing about here is how to interpret data. No one is bashing or defending a game here. They are just arguing what a set of numbers released by the devs mean. The answer is nothing. No one can even prove these numbers are real. They are just word of mouth from the devs at a rime their share price has been in the news. No one can say any of these numbers are defo fact. On top of that no one can actually accurately interpret this data (if its even accurate). Not even the number crunching boffins at BW will really have a 100% accurate idea of what the next month subs number will be so any mention of these numbers and what they mean, is speculation. As such this whole threads fails massively. What people should do is take figures the devs release with a bucket of salt and not worry about it. Let the Devs worry about sub numbers and player profiles. Instead play the game. if you like it hope it stays running and active, if you don't go and play something else. It is as simple as that. /thread.
  14. If you want to get an idea of what an older MMO used to offer, try playing a MUD. I started of playing and still play Discworld MUD: http://discworld.starturtle.net/lpc/ This will give you an idea of what it feels like to play a game where you have to work everything out. It is really rewarding.
  15. A good example is having everything laid out in front of you and explained so it is very easy to achieve. Classic games provided less information ton the user so that things have to be discovered. A good example of things being made easier is in WoW how at one time, several items were needed to create a fire for cooking. This gradually got dumbed down to being an ability that requires no reagent. To cook you simply cast a fire and begin cooking. Having to spend time gathering the required items to create a fire and making sure you had them in your inventory took more management and time. It also meant you had to try and figure out how to make a fire rather than just having an ability to do so in your book. It's this extra management and investigation that people miss from games. Now it feels like everything is given to you and explained with step by step instructions so that any idiot can do it. Before only those clever enough to work things out progressed.
  16. I don't think the numbers in this game are really very representative on the quality of the game and are more indicative of the power of Star Wars branding. If this game was not set in the Star Wars universe I bet it would not have even half the player base it has. Lots of people are playing what they consider to be a sub par MMO due to the fact they are huge Star wars fans. The game isn't terrible but is far from amazing.
  17. From this post I take it you believe the time you spend playing PvP should relate to how easy it is for you to kill another player. That by playing more PvP you expect to be given gear that means you stomp on someone who is the same level as you but is new to PvP? I take it you do not value skill them? Using your model you could be a terrible player but have played a lot of PvP. The new player could be an incredible player but has no gear as he hasn't spent time PvPing so far. This fight would be dictated by the gear so that the worse layer has an advantage opposed to the skilled players having a skill based advantage. I think this is wrong. I believe skill should be the number one factor in PvP. Rewards should be vanity items like titles.
  18. I am already done. This game has been one failure after another in terms of Bioware's development direction.
  19. Don't level it. I am a Scoundrel from game launch. I CBA to re-roll another char now and am just not going to renew after this month. /endgame
  20. Edited as CBA with SWTOR any more so my viewpoint no longer matters.
  21. PvP should only have vanity rewards and not gear based rewards. Rewarding the players who are the best/play the most with gear that makes them harder to kill is illogical. You should not be PvPing to get gear rewards as these have no value in the real world and cause in game imbalance. Killing someone when you are geared and they aren't is not balanced and has no sense of victory. It is simply grinding kills to get a higher valour level to get more gear which perpetuates the problem it causes. You should be playing PvP because you enjoy it not because you want a a gear based reward. Seriously. I am a PvPer but it drives me insane how other PvPers cause PvP imbalance by wanting PvP stats on PvP gear. Then when they have the BiS PvP gear that makes it so they can faceroll anyone not in gear they moan there is nothing to do. 1) Remove PvP gear from the game 2) Make PvP rewards vanity based such as titles or empty orange gear that looks cool that can be modded to the level of every other gear/mod setup. By doing this PvPers have incentives & PvP is about skill not gear.
  22. I would have previously pointed out how Macro's are terrible for PvP but I am so fed up with the game now I couldn't care less. In fact go ahead, add in macros and put the final nail in the coffin. I won't be re-subbing now anyway. Time to play through Dark Souls again and wait for GW2.
  23. I have both Shadow and Scoundrel at 50 and can tell you that your are 100% wrong. Shadow has much better sustained DPS and chain-able CC. Shadow also has more survivability due to Combat Technique and can guard (but obv no heals). Shadow and Scoundrel were balanced pre patch. Now I have no reason to play my Scoundrel.
  24. 6.5 It's OK but not amazing. I was hoping to be impressed which as of yet I haven't been. Have enjoyed the time I have spent playing but do not intend to renew in Feb. I have played better MMO's and better story driven games. I plan to play better story driven games (like Dark Souls, Skyrim etc) until GW2 comes out and then move to that for my MMO fix.
