  1. You can still use it though. Ever heard of GROUP chat? Ever heard of GUILD chat? Ever heard of 'Allies' Custom channel? ( or whatever named serverwide Custom made channel you want ) Heck, ever heard of 'Discord' ? There's no need for whatever u guys are asking. And, at least so far, over past 13+ years, BioSword doesn't agree with your apparent need. Period. Now, if u guys were asking for an in-game SWTOR version of voice-comms, ( like we did late in SWG days ) OR a total revamp of Ops groupfinder which no one uses, then you might have something worth coding. But....those other SH's aren't part of the Fleet. They're part of X planet and therefore meant to be within that specific area's chat system. smh lol that's not how the chat servers work Each one is tied to it's corresponding 'instance' . The Custom channels ( player created ) work a bit differently, code wise; hence why they're manually opt-in with the /cjoin command. Please @JoeStramaglia i saw you reading this thread yesterday, so can you please explain it better to these people? (so they might finally understand how harmful their request would be to literally EVERY other channel/instance in the game --- Because everyone on the entire server would be mixed into one giant mess of a chat box, rendering ALL other chats essentially worthless & empty. Sheesh. )
  2. Like i said, same function different name. Therefore, no need for new code. Define "viable" . ( This outta be good lol )
  3. One guild doesn't reflect ALL guilds. Just like one poster ( you ) doesn't reflect "everyone else" . Find another guild and/or create your own guild to better adhere to your own values & needs. It's a MMO, technically. That is your OPINION. My counter opinion is: AFK quitters who "self destruct" are far more detrimental to the game than anyone else who is simply utilizing in-game legal tools ( grouping & guilding ) in order to gain normal strength-in-numbers type advantage. Something literally ALL players could do themselves, if they want to. Either way though, you don't have any data, metrics, proof , etc. ( and you never will ) to support your claim. You have nothing but your own agenda combined with trauma from either being farmed or witnessing the farming. Like i said before: i queue SOLO in GSF , even though my guild has been around since 2011 ( 2009 pre launch even ) . So i've been farmed & spawn-camped plenty of times too. But instead of taking my ship & storming off like a child , i choose to accept the challenge and study my opponents tactics & tendencies. ( to learn and maybe get better ) And if BioSword would ever implement friggin' *JOYSTICK SUPPORT* finally ( like we had in SWG JTL ) then maybe i could become an "ace" pilot again. Until then, it's a video game with mouse-movement to fly.
  4. Yes it did. I already explained it to you but i'll do it again. We started 'Allies' back in 2012 , on 1 server and it spread to all rest of the OTHER servers too. ( back when there were like 20 servers ) -- Then, all those servers got *merged* down to a lesser amount....and 'Allies' persisted thru word-of-mouth ( because it was so effective ) and thru the collective Community , having nothing to do with "me" . Then, servers merged AGAIN later into the 6 we have now and still 'Allies' persisted, even on Satele Shan ( at least, initially ) . And if 'Allies' stopped being used there, then it's just another similar type of "LFG" Custom channel with a different name but same function. So your little "gotcha!" attempt at deflecting is fail. Well, i don't login there on SS anymore and haven't for a while, but i know the channel existed ( and was used ) on that server at some point. And if it isn't called 'Allies', then it's called something else Custom which does the same exact function we started in 2012. That's the whole point of Custom freedom channels and frankly that's also the beauty of MMOs. Community gravitates from a spark that works and then things grow from there. If it's not me & my GM pals back in 2012 , it would've been someone else ( maybe even you ) starting a Custom "LFG" serverwide channel for the Community. But regardless: Who cares who started what? BioSword isn't gonna change how Chat works in 2024 no matter how much you & Darkestmonty click-like eachother's posts. And you're grasping at petty semantic straws now because you know you totally mispoke here--> https://forums.swtor.com/topic/933723-new-copero-stronghold-and-the-sh-cap-increase-the-cap-and-allow-cm-purchase-of-stronghold-slots-for-duplicate-shs/?do=findComment&comment=9801964 but , for whatever reason, you still refuse to acknowledge reality and admit your error. Only reason i corrected you is because wrong statements (aka misinformation ) might actually be believed by some innocent newbie or forum-lurker.
  5. Until BioSword changes how the game works , or releases the official metrics proving your melodramatic/defeatist umm theory, it looks like these so called "top pilots" have only managed to "drive away" YOU & the other poster. So, big whoop. Meantime, "everyone else" , as in average pilots like me who always just go solo and enjoy the FUN challenge, totally accept the basic rules of MMOs which allow for grouping & guilding. The GSF queue allows for a certain amount of grouped players + solo players. Do the math and you should figure out how the matchmaking algorithm tends to function. ( leaving plenty of space for solo players ) Yep, like i said no big loss then, since you've been complaining for a while--> https://forums.swtor.com/topic/930602-gsf-premade-guild-on-ss-and-sf-same-guild/ with nothing to show for it. ( except more complaining ) Rest of "everyone else" will be busy getting better at GSF competing against those big "evil" premades running rampant. 🤣
  6. So players in a MMO actually had the unmitigated gaul to GROUP & GUILD with eachother?! oh my gawd, the horror! It must be so hard on everyone else who can't group & guild themselves too. Oh wait....
  7. Why sorry? Bring some new life into the thread. i said the GSF channel works "great" . And it does. Ask any pilots on Star Forge and they will tell you the same thing. And 'Allies' ( or any Custom Channel for that matter ) has worked "great" since 2011 beta. That is my OPINION, based on 13 years of data & observations, combined with logical conclusion & deducing from BioWare having never changed the status quo. ( Plus, i helped them test code, originally, so i know a bit more about how things work and are supposed to work ) If you want to disagree, that is totally fine of course , but you're gonna have to convince the DEVS ( and EA ) that they need to spend $$$'s and coding time to completely overhaul how chat-server works. Good luck with that! Getting the "noise" out is a Moderator's job, so you should instead be supporting BioSword hiring in-game Moderators. Your math is wrong, since SWTOR began 2011. But anyways, they aren't "unknown" though. At least, not the public universally used GROUP type channels. They are established and consistanly promoted in all widely seen chats like Fleet & such. The Community has already spoken for 14 years. That is, until you & 2 others inexplicably decided to randomly go on some crusade just because you 3 might feel lonely in your SH's ? /shrug LOL nice snarky lil' snipe attempt and you saved your very revealing true feelings for the end, eh? Well, first off: It's not "my" channel. Did you even read how i clearly stated TWICE it was originally formed by myself & OTHER GM's , as a TEAM in a noble effort to HELP the community. Then, as all good & popular ( and effective ) noble efforts go , it has over the past 12 years grown into it's greater life & ownership of EVERYONE to continue using. Remember we didn't name the custom channnel 'Nee & Only Nee' , did we? We named it ALLIES, for good reason. So yeah, sadly i might be the only one of us OG's still around lurking these forums, but i couldn't care less if it's called 'Allies' or 'Shmallies' or 'LFG' or 'FrontLineFoddersChannel-of-Fun' . Because whatever it's called , it would still function exactly how any new Dev coded version would. Except the new version would be redundant and render EVERY single other chat channel in the entire game obsolete. Got nothin' to do with "my" channel.
  8. ah , biting sarcasm. Cool , i figured you'd goto that next. So, as i've explained to you before but you refuse to listen: SWTOR chat is by design meant to keep each separate type of chat & instance isolated from the other, so that it keeps things organized for both the User & the Monitor. Oh and i'm guessing you must've missed the option to: Discord, guildchat , whispers, & friends-list ? Plus the aforementioned 'Allies' serverwide channel , which functions literally exactly how your extraneous "LFG" newly coded version would be. Or better yet, go create your own Custom channel and start promoting it! ( we did that a while back with /GSF channel and it works great ) . Anyways, it's not even fun replying to you anymore, cuz you're basically just trolling now. But you & Traceguy should band together and go make a new thread into the bottomless pit known as--> https://forums.swtor.com/forum/145-suggestion-box/ section.
  9. SWTOR already has. And, some might argue, to it's very detriment. But ok fine let's take your theory: So how exactly has the population "changed" so much to completely eradicate 12 years worth of Chat Channels code? If anything, 'Discord' & voice-comms have almost rendered obsolete nearly ALL typed chats in general in video games nowadays. So why would BioSword ever bother completely re-coding how their chat servers work just to grant a game-wide server-wide massive clusterfluke non-moderated "LFG" channel which would just turn into the worst days of Fleet & DK cess-pools x 1000? Like seriously dude, THINK for a second. It ain't gonna happen. Once again though: the connectivity you seek already exists in the form of 'groupfinder' . Hence why the truly legit ( and realistic ) change that u guys should be campaigning for is for BioSword to completely overhaul the OPERATIONS version of groupfinder. ( since practically no one uses it anymore , because why would they? It serves no function anymore and is basically just dead code leftover to confuse players sitting in Ops gf queue until they finally realize ) lol "most" players, eh? Sheesh just more unsubstantiated empty proclamations you can't ever prove nor quantify. Besides which, "most" players like me always tell the other players about said custom chat channels & such. ( aka Community helping one another ) -- It's no big secret. But heck by your logic, "most" players don't know about half the things in SWTOR anyway. So what's even your point? Should we just get rid of everything that isn't known by everyone on Day 1 of 1st login now? It's ridiculous. At this point , you're just hellbent and refuse to acknowledge actual reasonable evidence. I'd be surprised if you're even reading my posts thoroughly tbqh. I'm happy to let you keep baiting me into replying more though.
  10. If that were true, then BioWare/Broadsword would've coded it into the game "years ago" . But they haven't and they won't. And their opinion is the only one that actually matters. SWTOR implemented 'groupfinder' ( even though the Operations version is useless since, big surprise, everyone just looks-for-group in Fleet chat and/or Allies channel ) instead of some hairbrained "LFG" serverwide channel , because MMO Devs don't particularly want every player to be consolodated into ONE giant chat channel. ( duh ) EA won't even let them have one single live Chat Moderator in ANY channel/planet/instance. Yet now you expect them to Moderate a massive channel with ostensibly 1000's of players in it?!?!? Besides which, the game is meant to function with multiple separate & confined chat channels, per planet per instance, so that it's organized ( within server prompt & logs ) and also so for example new players don't get overwhelmed. btw shocker that you chime in again here riding Traceguy's coattails , since both of you suffered from the same problem of spewing misinformation & speculation earlier in this thread without knowing the reality & history. ( and then double/triple'ing down on it even after links & facts were presented to you lol smh ) Good luck with u guys' chat crusade, but don't hold your breath. Got about as much chance of ever happening as my wish for GSF to be granted significant Dev attention for 1st time since 2018.
  11. Except that i never made such a sweeping assumption nor generalization. YOU did. Nice try though. Fact is: Devs code 'Tutorials' in-game for the very reason you mention. ( re: players need help discovering deeper functions within their game .... aka Tutorials! ) Back when WE ( me & a few other GMs who wanted to help the community by forming a cross-server Alliance -- get it? ) formed the 'Allies' channel initially on Giradda the Hutt server, it then spanned/spread across ALL servers once people saw us posting about on the forums. Then, after each subsequent server-merge , the 'Allies' channel persisted because of word-of-mouth. ( just like how MMOs typically work ) So yeah nice attempt at rebutal sir , but you were incorrectly assuming yet again about it being "single" server. Not that it matters anyway, since BioSword won't be changing anything with Chat Channels regardless.
  12. The # 1 is in the game though , so your point is moot since all you need is ONE source that's in the game and i just provided that to you. You mispoke with your earlier sentence, because of making a normal human mistake. ( re: Proclaiming something as fact before actually knowing all the facts first. ) Just take the L and admit you were wrong in your earlier sentence, because there would be more dignity in it for you. Sure it is, since game forums are meant to augment the game. ( re: guides & such ) That's on you then. And now you're making sweeping assumptions & generalizations in order rationalize your own lacking-of-info. It's a futile hill for you to fight on tbh. We've already established that ^ in my earlier post here--> https://forums.swtor.com/topic/933723-new-copero-stronghold-and-the-sh-cap-increase-the-cap-and-allow-cm-purchase-of-stronghold-slots-for-duplicate-shs/?do=findComment&comment=9801795 which you maybe didn't read/notice before making your post today? You're missing the point. There is no "correct" channel. It's a MMO , whereby players can CREATE their own "correct" channel. Hence the term Custom Chat Channel. BioWare coded it this way, same as most MMOs , for the purpose of giving PLAYERS the freedom to choose. You & the other poster are arguing for the sake of arguing , and without even having the correct facts straight. ( hence why i have to step-in with corrections & links for u guys ) SWTOR won't be changing how Chat channels been working from 2011 because it's molded into the game-engine & server-infrastructure. Find another crusade. ( like revamping the worthless/useless Operations groupfinder i mentioned before ) Or don't. Whatever.
  13. Sorry to correct you again but unfortunately your sentence isn't accurate. Since 2011 BETA, there is indeed 2 places whereby players can learn: First, accessing the in-game Tutorials by pressing ESC button and scrolling to the 'Teaming Up' heading list, which will inform you how to simply right-click 'chat tab' into the Create Custom Channel option. And secondly, here within this very website--> https://www.swtor.com/info/tutorials ...scrolling down to 'Tutorial #8' clicky (which converts/plays into that larger top video box ) . Lastly and tangentially: The 3rd place is of course by simply asking & learning from the collective playerbase, either while on Fleet or Coruscant or DK ...or just on forums --> https://forums.swtor.com/topic/609549-how-to-use-custom-chat-channels/ which is one of the perks of playing MMOs. ( Community help )
  14. First: i was indeed an ace pilot in SWG JTL , where i had my *flight stick* , but here in SWTOR GSF with dumb mouse-to-fly i am AVERAGE pilot. Secondly: i never premade when i queue for GSF . Ever. You are wrong and are just exagerrating melodramatically and tbqh you just sound like pouty sour grapes ( for whatever reason ) . Best of luck to ya!
  15. Mostly i just see people raging in chat about it lol , but yes sometimes i've noticed the *search & rid* method. Would be an interesting alternative to test , and i do agree community shame is often a very effective manner of policing video games ( or society ) . I'd be pleasantly shocked if BioSword did anything to change current status quo though. It def. works , just not good enough. Hence why the complaints of "but i WAS contributing!!!" from typically innocent players. BioSword needs to adjust/amend the algorithm.
  16. Sorry but catering to the lowest common denominator, in games or in society, never works. Instead, establish a standard by which all players at least strive to achieve. GSF PVP is a competition, sort of like a sport. Thankfully, sports still mostly work on merit & skill. The gamer cream always rises to the top, as it should, and you'll never be able to force the best players to just stop trying. There are plenty of guilds & pilots who offer help & training for inferior ( or inexperienced ) players to learn. Game DEVS need to offer more motivation & incentive for bads/casuals to want to git gudder. And the SWTOR code needs to provide a better system-of-progression ( and practice ) , combined with better more accurate matchmaking algorithm ( to even out the teams more often ) . Would actually be cool if GSF had a 2-tier queue zone , like ground PVP has with WZ's & Arenas , so maybe Tier 2 could be like the non-reward Training Tier ( for beginners or those who get sick of being "farmed" ) and then Tier 1 could be for the aces or whomever wants more of a challenge. Don't hold your breath for much change though, since we barely have enough players active nowadays to fill one queue during primetime hours AND BioSword hasn't even paid ANY significant attention to GSF since like 2018.
  17. That's actually an interesting idea , except for one problem: Why would the opposing team , who is benefitting/winning by taking advantage of the AFK/troll , choose to then vote-kick that same AFK/troll ? ( thereby removing their free advantage & easy win ) Like, since when are most PVPers ever so magnanimous & noble? Wouldn't a better more realistic system of regulating poor behavior, at this point in SWTOR's skeleton crew of Devs , have to include some sort of automated 'contribution' stat monitoring system similar to how GSF auto-kick works?
  18. If that were true ---and again you're just spewing more made-up random "stats" lol ---it's got nothing to do with any supposed need for a "universal" chat channel to replace the already established playermade chat channel ( 'Allies' ) which i & others formed back in 2012. Players leave SWTOR for many many many other reasons i won't bother to list here. So look dude, your logic is severely flawed and you're wayyyy off-topic here, but you seem like a relatively nice & earnest person, so i'm gonna go easy on you: Instead of continuing to waste your time with this silly misguided futile chat crusade you're on, why not pursue something more worthy like asking BioSword to revamp the actually/literally worthless OPs groupfinder? Do that and maybe you'll get results. Maybe.
  19. You pulled that ^ sentence out of your darkest monty and you have no basis for spewing made-up-metrics nor any ability to ever prove such ridiculous random speculation. Therefore, your tangent off-topic argument ( opinion ) lacks any merit and can't be taken seriously by anyone with intelligence. Besides which, SWTOR has existed just fine since 2011 utilizing playermade channels ( hence why the original Devs coded them into the MMO game in the 1st place duh lol ) and BioSword won't ever change that status quo , because if they did it would completely render ALL other separate-by-design planet/instance channels utterly moot. Surely you comprehend this , but if you don't/can't....well.... good luck. 🤣
  20. i literally posted/quoted the link to him yesterday up above--> https://forums.swtor.com/topic/933723-new-copero-stronghold-and-the-sh-cap-increase-the-cap-and-allow-cm-purchase-of-stronghold-slots-for-duplicate-shs/?do=findComment&comment=9801707 but he either didn't read it or just has me on-ignore /shrug That is incorrect. There is indeed a "universal" channel and it's called Allies . Reason i know this of course is because i started the channel originally back in 2012 along with a few other GM's. Fleet chat is typically only for the storymode-sheep , plus the trolls & bots & spammers. Most legit raiders use aforementioned Allies channel or stay self-contained within their own GUILD channels & Discords. ( *except maybe sometimes when they get desperate for a quick fill-in sub player from Fleet )
  21. uhh, i'm not sure if you read my post above ^^ --> https://forums.swtor.com/topic/933723-new-copero-stronghold-and-the-sh-cap-increase-the-cap-and-allow-cm-purchase-of-stronghold-slots-for-duplicate-shs/?do=findComment&comment=9801707 which as you can see is directly before yours from a few hours ago, where it says how supposedly GUILDS can't even use the new Copero SH ?
  22. Bad news for GUILDS--> https://forums.swtor.com/topic/933607-game-update-741-livestream-coming-february-14th/?do=findComment&comment=9801703 re: " Will we increase the SH limit? ---> The limit is set as 20 and will not be increased at this time." re: "Will Guilds be able to set the new Copero stronghold as their Guild Stronghold? ---> Only Strongholds that can be purchased through the Stronghold terminals can be set as a Guild Stronghold. As the Copero Stronghold is acquired through the Galactic Seasons system, it cannot be used as a Guild Stronghold. " ./facepalm Very disappointing decision from @KeithKanneg & @EricMusco , with no further explanation/reasons given ( yet ) . Perhaps @JoeStramaglia is allowed to shed some light on the subject ( re: Why can't us GM designate more than 1 SH to our guilds?!?!!? ) from a CODE ( or cache ) perspective? Please? Anyone? @JackieKo any hope for a bit more behind-the-code intel please?
  23. Perhaps i misunderstood/misread your OP ... Weren't you trying to report the same issue as that thread i linked for you? ( also not sure if you read thru the entire thread yet ? )
  24. Again i've run out of clicky *reactions* so i can't LIKE your post , but i will just say what a legit breath of fresh air YOU are for actually admitting & acknowledging. Seriously, such posts are few & far between on forums. ( much less on the interwebs )
