  1. At what point since launch...hell since Beta for that matter...has any choice made in-game by you materially affected the story that's been fed to you since? I don't mean you got to...or didn't get to...see your screen fade to black as your character hooked up with a companion. I mean genuinely affected what you could or could not do in the game.
  2. There is only one decision that matters in SWtoR, and that is whether to play or not. "Choices that matter" is a joke, and it's on us.
  3. I don't think I can do it better. I don't think I can build a car from scratch either but if I buy a lemon I sure as hell feel ok with telling people about it.
  4. Well, they did manage to shoehorn a slew of nerfs into it...
  5. Of course, you realize that not describing how you accomplished it in that other game makes saying you can't do it here pretty meaningless. I mean...what is it you can't do that results in your character doing a 180?
  6. That's certainly true. It's also true that if there is a price clearly marked on a real life item and someone in real life buys that item...even if they could have purchased it for far less somewhere else...they have not been scammed. No consumer protection agency would take action in this instance, unless the true price of the merchandise was somehow hidden from the buyer.
  7. I used to PvP. Not a ton, 54 valor on my gunslinger, but some. It was ok, nothing to write home about but it was ok. Now? Now I don't want to PvP. And I don't want BW cockblocking me from getting companions by putting them, any of them, behind a PvPwall. If it comes to pass that Pierce is needed to advance to another companion that I actually want before this ridiculous requirement is removed then I'll PvP, but you won't be thrilled to have me on your team.
  8. Because right now the answer to "If we don't get companion X is it going to hurt us down the road?" has received a...at best...vague answer. We don't know that two months form now when we see Chapter X if we're also going to see "You can not recruit follower Y, who you really really want, without follower X with you in this dialogue".
  9. It's likely that most of the people having fun are actually in the game while many subscribers who are not having fun in the game are playing SWTOR Forum PvP™ instead.
  10. The requirement to PvP for KotFE alliance companions should be non-existent. It's ludicrous. In the context of the KotFE story arc, I am no longer fighting against the Empire (or Republic, depending). I am leading an alliance of individuals drawn from both to bring down a greater menace to the galaxy. Then again, forced recruitment requiring us to somehow "prove ourselves worthy of their joining the alliance" should be non-existent as well. I say that in the context of who we are in the game universe, not some meta entitlement perspective. Consider that: I (you, everyone playing) lead this alliance. If I don't want ally X then I should be able to tell whoever's trying to get me to recruit them "No, I'm not interested in that individual. Who else is on your list of suggestions? I say "suggestions" because, by the way, I'm your commander...you're not mine." Having said that... Mission lines where we are going to go rescue/liberate a potential ally in our war are another thing altogether, provided it's someone we actually want in our alliance.
  11. Well then; here's hoping it's nothing you care about.
  12. I (you, everyone playing) lead this alliance. If I don't want ally X then I should be able to tell whoever's trying to get me to recruit them "No, I'm not interested in that individual. Who else is on your list of suggestions? I say "suggestions" because, by the way, I'm your commander...you're not mine."
  13. Wildstar failed because of a (proven demonstrably ridiculous) design decision that aimed end-game content at hardmode and grindfest players, betting that there were enough of them to make a profitable game while others dabbled in it for the eye candy and insanely cool housing mechanics. They were wrong. There are not enough hardmode and grindfest players in this game to sustain it, it's been the case throughout pay to play Western PvE-based MMOs that casuals pay the bills and raiders/PvPers enjoy the fruits of that income.
  14. How about "I don't like PvP"? If that's not a valid answer to you then that's your issue. Not mine. My old main is still using a full set of Battlemaster as an appearance set. I don't like to PvP any longer. Deal with it. People who don't like to PvP aren't "afraid" amigo, they simply don't like to PvP.
  15. This.
  16. Jarvis, exactly what does any of our characters have to prove to anyone in the context of the story in this game? We are the heroes of the Republic and the Empire, we are the people whose exploits have changed the direction of the galaxy (we've all been told that so often that it's old news), we are the ones who have gone toe to toe with our newest foes and lived to have an alliance of Republic and Empire veterans coalesce around us. I don't know about you, but from a story perspective my characters have nothing to prove to anyone on this side of the war...if anything they have something to prove to me, that they are worthy of my trust to be allowed to join the alliance at a high level. That's the story, we are the heroes, the leaders. I am reminded of one of the best scenes from a cult classic; The Keep. I'll paraphrase for relevance. Who are you (spoken to whatever alliance side NPC character) that I should prove myself to you by fighting in some piddling arena that is irrelevant in the context of the galaxy as it now stands? So you prove yourself to me. You want reasonable "show me why this brigade (fighter wing, elite commando unit, Master Jedi, Darth Youcan'tbeserious, etc...) I have in hiding should come out of the shadows and place itself under your command." objectives they should all be wrapped around striking at our new enemies and proving we can do so effectively. PvP in the context of the current phase of the story is worthless. No player is playing the part of anyone's adversary any longer.
  17. It's not a fun mechanic. Yes, I'll do 20 matches because it's required. No, I won't be white-knuckling my mouse and looking 5 directions at once while trying to decide on the fly what the optimal target and rotation are in a fight. In short, I'm a serious PvPer's nightmare; a casual who doesn't care about the outcome.
  18. Yes, it feels cheap and poorly done to me as well. I want the old dialogue mechanism back.
  19. I'm assuming it's a bug, and I'm hoping that Bioware doesn't decide to tally up all the damage I've had done to all my gear and retroactively bill me for 250,000c
  20. Way to cherry-pick one comment out of the response. Well done. Now, how about addressing the rest of it?
