  1. A lot of the thought process behind these comments revolves around the struggle between structure and agency. Structuralists will argue that the design of the game must facilitate grouping, while those with an emphasis on agency will argue that it is up to the players to make grouping happen. The truth, as usual, lies in between these two perspectives. Yes, players may not be trying as hard as they could to find groups, but then again BW could have included more things into the structure of the game to make interaction easier such as, oh, chat bubbles. Just an example. Lets try to move beyond the either/or dichotomy of structure and agency and recognize that there are valid arguments from all sides.
  2. I have seen this comment a lot, but if this is the case then why in the class forums is "sith inquisitor" the class forum, and then you can view the subforums from there for sorc and assassin? Are you telling me they devoted the main page for the sith inquisitor to what occurs between levels 1-10?
  3. It doesn't really matter. Others have made these points in the past and were not trolling, so this is a topical matter. If anyone thinks an idea is solely about whoever first posted it, they have been trolled by reality... hard.
  4. Im sure this has already been mentioned because it is so ridiculously obvious, but not having a meaningful "neutral" works against the idea that anyone could RP their character in the way they see fit, making the decisions that they themselves would want to as that character, rather than just "oh this is the darkside option," or "since I need lightside points I guess I have no choice but to choose this."
  5. As I said, I only read to page 3, and in those first 3 pages there are many mentions of the movies and there are even mentions of the storm troopers themselves. Apparently someone was thinking in those terms. As I said, I only read to page 3. I only read to page 3. I only.
  6. I only read to page 3, but I have to remind you guys if no one has yet that this is NOT the republic/empire that we know from the movies, so troop comparisons based on that are... well... not relevant. That said, the storm trooper that we all know and love doesn't exist yet in this timeline. Thus, something different.
  7. Animation delays are the worst. There might not be anything in the game more annoying than not having your CC or attack hit the person "in time" because of a silly animation. They made a big mistake on that one, and I can't even think of a good reason why.
  8. I also feel that this game feels like a single player game more than an MMO. The main reason for this is that when I log on I feel as though my progression is on serious rails from which I can deviate, but not very meaningfully. In contrast, an MMO has the feeling of "ok, I'm out in this crazy world with all of these other crazy people... whats gonna happen next?!?!" In this game I know that what is going to happen next is more or less what happened to the last guy who decided to roll this particular class, because that is how this game is. Yes, there is variation and other means of leveling/playing, but the amount of variation feels minimal compared to what I have come to know over the years. So, if you are stumped about people saying this feels like a single player game then focus on the notion that it FEELS like one, rather than that it IS one. You are correct, it IS not a single player game, and yet it does FEEL like one in many, but not all, ways.
  9. A very reasonable argument. I think some people feel as though pointing out flaws is somehow an attack on their enjoyment, when it is really just a statement about how another feels about the game. How the community responds to those feelings will go a long way toward determining how that person continues to feel about the community, which in turn reflects upon the game, leading to a death spiral from which that potential customer may never return. Individual players on here don't have to be concerned about the overall health of the game, and so they want to hush the dissent and pretend everything is fine. But BW and EA do have to be concerned for the overall health of the game, and so I am most certain that they are concerned about the high level of QQ, and rightly so. Those who dismiss the QQ are not furthering the cause of working together to help make this game the best it can be. The OP was right and is much more aligned with the BW/EA perspective on these matters because, well, its their game and they NEED active subs. Players can afford themselves the luxury of dismissing the views of others, but the game as a whole cannot.
  10. No, it should not. I like forums because they provide a space for discourse. Banning people for unfavorable discourse is violent to the health of discourse, so should be avoided if at all possible. With something as minor and yet legitimate as frustration topics, I think the violence to discourse can be avoided quite easily.
