Except this isn't logical because the thousands of people waiting to join their guilds on established servers would be ****ed. It's logical for the unguilded, sure. I have been saying that for a while now.
If you think you need to be worried, you probably do. Servers in the US and EU were mysteriously crashing yesterday with relatively no one on. I only knew this because status updates appeared on the launcher throughout the day, but I don't recall this ever being mentioned in public channels.
To be fair, this is actually a good point. Even Origin's SWTOR page doesn't say "up to" or "may," it just says, "Pre-Order Now for Early Game Access! Limited Quantities available!" right at the top. Nowhere on the store page at all does it use ambiguous phrases like "up to" or "may receive." Not even the fine print at the bottom is the same as what is in those e-mails and on other sites. This is Bioware's official launch store we're talking about here.
Exactly. I wasn't sure I would even buy the game until my 4th and final beta weekend. I have plenty of issues with this game that don't include early access. However, for the record, I knew from the beginning that this would affect my place in line for EAG.
Well said, but I think the grey area comes from the fact that this is still early access. No one officially owns the game, yet. Bans are a little melodramatic at this point; however, rollbacks would be suitable, indeed.
I read the whole thing and couldn't stop thinking to myself what a waste of time this was to write. It wasn't unintelligent, though. I just can't overcome the glaring futility.
I'm just saying, you can go to Origin and purchase the game on the 19th and have your pre-order code in-hand that day. If you are guaranteed one day of early access and it is on the 19th, then anyone who buys the game on the 19th gets in that day. Hence, the launch date is indirectly moved up a day for anyone with an internet connection.
The thing is: if you buy it on the 19th it is technically pre-ordering, but if everyone who pre-orders is guaranteed one day, then everyone will get in on the 19th. That's not early access; that's indirectly moving up the launch date. The OP is right.
This forum is full of people "missing the point," get used to it. I agree with everything you said in your opening post. However, I would assume that there will be new servers daily up to and beyond the 20th. Therefore, these issues shouldn't really be a problem.
Good point, actually. My only gripe that warrants any concern whatsoever are the effects of giving people 6 or 7 days of full access before most. There will easily be xxx amount of players who are 50 before the majority even logs in for the first time. This is where having two extra days is actually a disadvantage (for everyone else). I hope they keep pumping out new servers!
You make good points; I actually agree with you quite a bit. As a matter of fact, not only are they good points, but they might be the only relevant complaints about early access I have seen yet. Don't expect any objectivity here, though.
