  1. That's irritating, but what is worse is players who give up but instead of leaving, camp out at a node to farm defender comms. Alderaan Civil War used to be one of my favorite WZs, but at least before the most recent server consolidation it was just about ruined. (Maybe it's better now; I've been spending all my time on GW2,so I can't say one way or the other.)
  2. Here is the tersest news item I've ever seen: http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/9/18/3353398/bioware-co-founders-ray-muzyka-and-greg-zeschuck-retire
  3. That would be a different game. I hear that GW2 is pretty much that way, also Heroes of New Erth. In SWTOR, better gear makes you better in PvP and PvE. It's a fundamental aspect of the game.
  4. Thanks! My trooper is not very good at 1v1, but both my 'toons end up playing lonely defense a lot. I'm all about achieving WZ objectives, but there is quite a bit of satisfaction in winning a 1v1.
  5. I'm just curious -- certainly this is less than trivial, but In a WZ, if I get a couple of solo kills, do these kills "inflate" my killing blow stat, or is a killing blow tallied only if it's not a solo kill, too? Logically, it seems that if you get a solo kill, then you had to be the one who delivered the killing blow, but I don't know how the stats are tallied. Thanks!
  6. I hear you, I feel your pain, but I have starting quitting ACW as soon as it comes up, because I hate that people give up and farm medals at your one controlled node at the drop of a hat. I don't want to hang around for 15 minutes hating life or repeatedly charging 1 v 4 into a node. [Edit] The post above mine has it exactly right. I really, really hate people who give up but hang out in the WZ. It has made ACW almost impossible to bear on the Pub side, at host "Prophecy of the Five".
  7. One of my chars is a Comabat-spec'd Sentinel. I have a ball playing it, but I feel a lot more like a glass cannon than over powered. I'm a noob, so this is mostly because of my ineptitude, but I play a **** load of WZs, and I have been at the top of the table exactly once with my Sent. I doubt that I have ever hit harder than 4K.
  8. Do you think the problem is that Hayden Christensen can't act? I appreciate that the dialog in all the Start Wars movies is challenging, but I cringed every time he opened his mouth.
  9. In AotC, the between Yoda and Dooku is hilarious, which was probably not the intended effect...
  10. OP -- not on topic, but I'm curious: how would you rate the fights in "The Duellists"?? They look pretty darned real to me, but I don't know anything about it.

  12. I love Kira; she's sassy but sweet. She and my Sent crossed the Jedi non-attachment line by quite a bit. After Doc joined the crew, however, I quit doing missions with her. One of the saddest things (at least regarding relationships with an NPC) would be in a fight when she'd say she didn't think she was going to make it. My Sent is combat-spec'd, with zilch for heals. All I could do would be to say "wish I could help! Sometimes life sucks, sweetie." [Edit] Favorite quote (on receipt of a gift): "Guess you DO love me".
  13. this ^^^ I'm been in plenty of WZs where it seemed like my whole side was over-matched, and every time I went in (with a group!) I'd get 3-hit killed, but I have also found that frequently the lowest HP guy on my team is near the top of the table when the match ends. Gear matters. I'm grinding like the Devil to finish my WH sets. But it's not the whole story, not by a long shot.
  14. Many times in PvP it looks like Force Stasis is ready but it has no effect on the target; I don't see similar behavior in PvE. Do players have the ability to shrug this off? Is there a good way to predict when it will work?
  15. I've enjoyed the Alderaan Civil War WZ quite a bit, but recently on "Prophecy of the Five", it seems like every time the Pubs are down 1 turret to 2, there are 2 or more defenders camping at our node. Worse, if the game continues to go against us, more and more Pubs decide that the only thing to do is farm some defense medals. I favor a conservative style of play; I think if you have two turrets, the best thing to do is defend them like crazy. But if you need to cap one, chances are the Imps are not going to try really hard to 3 cap. If they do, you can respond to a call. Even if you lose the thing, it should be easier to get one back from a 3 cap than a 2 cap. Waiting for a loss is boring as all get out, and solo attacks on a well defended turret are pointless. Trying to convince teammates to reconsider giving up only irritates them. The only solution I see is to leave the WZ as soon as I see that it's ACW.
  16. See http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=5062596#post5062596. I think play would be improved if you changed the award of defender medals so that you don't get one for mere attendance if more than 2 or 3 defenders are at your node. See also http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=5068724#post5068724. I refuse to play ACW until this is addressed.

    Defense Medals

People will always game the system. In Huttball you see players going for deathmatch medals at the expense of securing mid or making goals. Should we get rid of medals for killing blows, total damage, 1v1 wins? I DO hate to see people in ACW give up early and camp at a single turret. Maybe defender medals could be tweaked so that you don't get one for mere attendance if more than 2 or 3 defenders are at your node.
  18. If you crafted an item from raw materials you purchased through the GTN, there is a good possibility that its buy-out price will be lower than the cost to build it.
  19. I'm sure this has been suggested before, but the lvl 50 WZs would be better if teams were matched against comparably skilled teams. See http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=5062447#post5062447
  20. I don't think I'm a hater, but I don't like this idea. How does it not screw over folks "who already have their War Hero gear"?? I think a better solution would be to compose War Zones that had matched teams, matched opponents. What we need is a reverse seeding, so that the best play against the best, the good against the good, the mediocre against the mediocre. Pit newbies against newbies, at least until they get a few wins. On my server ("Prophecy of the Five"), the WZ queues pop pretty fast. Slowing this down just a little to do a better job of creating PuGs would be worth it, if it could help avoid driving new 50s away from PvP.
  21. Played 2 WZs, enjoyed 2 come-from-behind wins this AM. Now I have to calm down before my commute -- don't want to cause too much carnage on the way to work!
  22. Set bonuses, for sets that have it, are bound to the armor. For info about gear and set bonuses, see http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=399000
  23. I'm going to keep pronouncing it "you really need to replace that with Rakata gear".
  24. The authoritative answer: Not to beat a dead horse, I think we mean the same thing, but for me, KOH-lu-me ...is easier to figure out than Co-Lumi
  25. That would be Master Ven Zallow. He's one of the dudes on the splash screen. Outstanding idea, btw, and a very neat way to further tie in the novels with the game.
