  1. %localappdata%\swtor\swtor\settings Type that into the field after you hit windows key + R if you're running Windows 7 - 10. I am dealing with the annoying BS where I have to change my EDID because Windows 10 apparently can't interpret my KS8000 to write the appropriate EDID info to registry. FML right now.... Only game right now that squashes my aspect ratio while rendering 3d, and yet it is completely perfect as far as GUI is concerned. Boggles my mind.
  2. I have had an issue with my bounty hunter where I cannot summon my companion, Torian because he is missing from the roster, and he does not appear on the ship. I am already at Ilum, and the only thing customer service suggested is restarting class mission for the companion; since that's impossible now, I wanted to try and communicate this, so I replied to the initial e-mail letting them know that the class mission wasn't stuck, it was the fact that while Torian appears in ship cut scenes, he is nowhere to be found on either the roster or in person on the ship. I believe I ended the e-mail with "Please read my original post completely..." I had every right to be annoyed at the fact that customer service gave a knee-jerk response to a game breaking problem. They responded initially like they assumed it was one issue while it was clearly the other -- my wording to my request post for help was, "I am missing my companion, Torian," not, "My class mission won't progress..." They chose to deal with the problem as the latter than the former. What annoys me the most about this is that customer service has closed my ticket even though it is not resolved, and they have cut off communication with me. I have in no way insulted or caused grief to them to provoke this aggression, and I would honestly like some attention to the situation. If customer service can just cut communication like this due to disagreement or because they're inept or lazy, then people need to know. Disagree with customer service at your peril.
  3. Not that I don't like the new direction everything has taken since the launch of 4.0, but I can't help but wonder if we should still be playing this as an MMO and not as it really plays; and honestly that's a single player game with additional online content. I've been playing on Harbinger a long time, before that, it was Drooga's Pleasure Barge, and before that, I cannot even remember the server name when it was initial 1.0 release. I have heard all the comments and a prevailing argument since beta has been that the game would have or could have been better as a single player release. After all, BioWare ended up turning it free to play -- for the most part -- and I see a lot of aspects to the game now that could have been executed as DLC to a main game. I know that there was probably more money in it as an MMORPG, but perhaps not. Take, for instance, that most of the game centers around an overarching story that spans 65 levels and over 100 hours of game play. Now take into account that it has now been streamlined to zip players through this mode in less time with extra XP per story mission, increased "commendation rewards" and little need to find a group for instances due to [solo] modes for them. Please don't misunderstand me when I say I wish this game was single player with multiplayer options. It simply comes from a play style of mine that is a bit, admittedly, antisocial in nature. I love this game, and I would not change it one bit. I loved it pre 4.0 and I love it post expansion, but aspects of it have me questioning why BioWare simply hasn't put out a pricing that would enable us to experience the fullness of the main experience at a lump sum equal to that of a AAA title, and then charging micro transactions for access to optional, online content. I have been a subscriber since the beginning only because the cost of unlocking item access, character slots, and other trivial parts of the game that should be included in the base experience price, is too high compared to the money I pay for the months I subscribe. For context, I spend a maximum of three months before I unsubscribe for whatever reason, and the cost to maintain the number of characters I have on my server is over $100. This new expansion is great, but I plan on unsubscribing to play Fallout 4 next month. It would be nice to turn the game on after my time in the wasteland is over and not have to spend another $15 just to maintain my single player endeavors I have already spent hundreds of dollars up-keeping over the coarse of the game's lifespan. I suppose the argument could be cast for the fact that I could have spent a lump sum over $100 to unlock everything for life, but I just have never had that much free money to spend all at once -- I am not rich, and I am a working class adult who lives paycheck to paycheck under the poverty line. My argument is merely a normative, "what-if" statement that suggests the game could have been released as a single player game with ongoing DLC based on my experiences with it. I solo a lot to level my characters, and have had very little end game experience. I group on occasion, but the occasions are sparse. I don't have much free money to spend on gaming, and I am in no way singling out this game; in fact, I think all future MMOs should revert to a time when online play was optional, and we hosted our own servers for online play -- like in the days of Freelancer and Diablo 2. I think the underlying problem is the genre of RPG has become thus that the only ones that garner enough attention and capital are persistently online, or first person shooters or actions games with RPG elements. The days of true single player RPGs are part of a bygone era of gaming, and anyone who makes them anymore can either afford the loss or couches them in another genre for effect. This game is a single player game with optional, online content -- it just doesn't know it yet.
  4. Making MMORPGs trivial is only ruining the essence of what makes MMORPGs stand apart from every other game out there. Thank you for giving us this item, and btw it works now. Let the babies have their power leveling -- I want my adventure...
  5. Nevermind all that... Now that we can only increase or decrease the mouse sensitivity in increments of 25%, this is terrible. I jacked the mouse speed to 0, too slow, up 25% and it's so fast I can't play. If I change the dpi or speed manually through my mouse driver, it's either too fast navigating the UI and fine turning the camera, or it's the opposite. What's worst, I can't find the ini file in the place it's supposed to be so I can tweak the mouse look speed manually.
  6. Yeah, I'm getting this bug too... As well as missing animations for my Cathar Jedi Knight -- he no longer has landing and roll animations, but somehow my BH Cathar does.
  7. I am tired of these free to players bogging the game down with their doldrums. Every day I log on, and every day I put up with whining about how "free to play is crap because it doesn't offer three crafting skills or access to certain features." Normally I would just tune it out and ignore it, but yesterday it reached a point where I no longer wanted to play because I felt so bad for being a subscriber that I had no interest in playing with these free to players. I know that there are people out there that feel like the world should be handed to them on silver platters, and that subscription based entertainment is too expensive, but that's no reason to badger those of us who do think the price of two coffees a month is worth a whole game experience. I am posting this to let you who are guilty of whining about your free to play predicament know that you are making some of us very angry. You should feel lucky at all that you can even play as much of the content as you can for free. When I was a kid, there was no "free to play" anything; you paid the price of the game, or you didn't play it -- unless you managed to get a copy from a friend to demo. I can understand that once you are in a game, it's hard to let go, but in all honesty some free to play games, and I am betting this one is such, are designed as "free trials" to help new players acclimate and decide if the game is worth investment. If the game is not worth investment, go away -- don't linger and spread your discontent because of jealousy.
  8. I'm necroing this post... Can BioWare please show a graphical indication of these types of buffs? I proc Circling Shadows, and I have no idea I have them stacked until I bother to look. Any other mmorpg, and there would be some kind of particle effects to indicate when I proc talent buffs. It's annoying staring at my UI when I should be watching out for the red circles before the boss AoE hits me.... <.<
  9. I cannot abide the lack of attention that finding groups has gotten in this game. For one, the way you force me to watch endless streams of spam in general chat while I troll for a group is apalling. Every other mmorpg out there has a server-wide LFG chat, so why, in all honesty, don't you? You didn't have it in release, and you still don't have it in 1.2. Hopefully, with the addition of the group finder in 1.3, things will start to pick up for those of us too impatient to sit and camp stations for groups. That annoyance has to stop if you want me back to pay for this game. And so this is underapreciated me letting you know that I have effectively cancelled my account, and I do not plan to return until you fix the access to group content. I don't want your free month for loyalty, and I don't want a meaningless pet taumtaum -- I want access to group content, and I want it at a reasonable pace. After all, why spend my money here, when I can spend it elsewhere where my needs are met?
  10. Agreed. To truly make 15 USD a month worth paying for a game like this, we need access to all of its content. Those of us who are pushing for this group finder know that time is a valuable commodity, and every minute wasted doing nothing, is time that could be spend doing something else. We work, go to school, have schedules outside the gaming arena that need to be met, and many of us simply do not have enough time in the day to wait long hours to form groups to tackle the amazing content you at BW have developed for us. My opponents will argue that group finder takes away from social aspects of the mmorpg genre, but I rebuttle that a game should be just that, a game. As always, choice should be at the forefront of any massive gaming experience. Whether that choice be from crafting or the choice be from doing solo or group activities, there should always be freedom in mmorpg gaming. To force a segment of the population to adhere to the elite few is folly, and guaranteed to cost BW / EA money in the long run. Many of us are simply not adept at the social graces neccessary to cultivate group relationships in games; therefore, we need the group finder addition to make this game worthwhile. We also need it to experience the missing parts of the game we have not been able to play. Still, others do not believe that mmorpg game play should be contingient on socialization. One of the biggest pitfalls of these games is when developers force players into interacting with eachother on a personal level. I for one, would rather play the game and rely on the teamwork of others to accomplish my goals and theirs. I am not above helping those in need, and in no way do I profess to being greedy or self centered; I merely want stop wasting my time and get to the game -- the whole game.
  11. I have a total of 10 characters on two different servers because I didn't quite know how the legacy thing was going to be implimented. Trouble is, I have legacy lv1 on one server and legacy lv4 on the other. I'm still a dedicated player, and I have had a steady account since December (minus one month for financial reasons). Reaching out to your dedicated players is going to be either as hard as you want to make it or as easy as 1,2,3. I would say that all of us who have subscribed for months since release would be your avid players. Also, some of us work steady jobs, and have families or real life situations that demand much of our time; moreover, how much time would functioning adults actually have to play? We are still avid fans. I think generalizing is a bad idea. If you want to celebrate us, just throw the freebe out to all of us who have "hung in there" with you through this rocky beginning. Level isn't going to tell you anything about loyalty. If I were you, I would be looking at subscription time, and not character level.
  12. There's got to be a way to keep the cinimatic feeling while making the rest of the game open up in a way that feels like a true MMO. I just can't rationalize spending 15 bucks a month on this as it is right now. I don't think the problem is necessarily with voice acting characters; I think the problem stems from the "sandbox" feeling I think we are all getting with the planets, space, and instances. If we could get BW to re-tool the way these places are implimented, I think we could get a very satisfying, loyal, and fun representation of the Star Wars expanded universe. However, like I stated above, this is all going to take time to perfect, and all BW needs at this point is our dedication and constructive criticism.
  13. I think giving players greater access to more of the content would go a long way to making this game more enjoyable. For me, it's a question of wanting to pay to play a game that is more multiplayer than single, but I hate waiting long periods of time to find a group. LFG galaxy chat and group finder options are a must in my book. It turned games like WoW from boring grinds to something I couldn't wait to get into. I played WoW for years before the group finder, and then when it came on board, I was introduced to a whole new world. I remember saying to myself, "Yes! Now this is what the mmorpg experience should be like... Constant parties, group content, and FUN!" Granted, WoW has its pitfalls, but I only left that game because I am a greater fan of Starwars than Warcraft. I admit, I am not one for social interaction when I play games. I couldn't care less if I made friends in mmo's or not. I am in it for the game play, and that's it; however, I do believe that making an mmo more accessible to my more social brethren lends to a certain atmostphere. I start to see games come alive with activity because I know I am not playing alone. Another addition that I would suggest is making space feel more like space, and therefore, connected to the rest of the galaxy. Moving from one system to the next through UI menus is only going to feel closterphobic. Making space traversable, and causing players to engage their own hyperdrives to escape enemy attacks would feel more like we are in the Starwars universe. I think the spark that you guys are looking for is more accessability and more content to make the game fresh and alive. It is just a matter of time before BW becomes aware of these hiccups and addresses them. We just need to be the squeeky wheels, so we can get the grease.
  14. When someone pretty much sets a standard in an industry, it's pretty hard to get away with anything below that bar. It's not like these guys at BW didn't do their homework. There are just key features that the mmo community comes to expect in a massive game like this; not to mention the fact that paying 15 bucks a month to play something is asking a lot. So if you ask me, make that 15 bucks worth it at the very least. I am only chuffed at the lack of attention to multiplayer PvE. Guys, at least make a way for us to talk to the whole galaxy when we search for party for group content. We STILL don't have a viable "looking for group" chat. Even if you don't plan on implimenting a group finder utility in the near future, AT LEAST make it easier for us to make groups of our own... Would it really be so hard to make a galaxy wide chat channel that pops up when we flag ourselves for LFG? Nearly every other mmo in history has a LFG channel. Wake up -- it's just common sense. There are other examples of ways this game has failed to live up to its own standards, but I will leave those complaints to better people.
  15. Someone, somewhere in the future is going to buy the SW license and make more. I don't think we will see another Lucas owned franchise, but mark my words, someone will make another Star Wars movie.
  16. For the record, I'll take fiction over science any day. With science as we know it, it's way too limiting, but with the force, anything is possible... And that's the way I like it!
  17. I love watching someone with an education argue with someone who isn't very educated. And yeah, in the realm of science, black isn't necessarily an absence of light. It's merely light that our eyes cannot detect; i.e: ultraviolet, or infrared. If you're going to argue science, get your science right.
  18. Nothing is impossible with the force...
  19. You're playing a game based in the EU... Just saying <.<
  20. NO kidding! I am an altoholic to the max. I spent the last few months getting every core class to lv20 and then some just to see the ship interiors. Then, I messed around with specs to see which ones I like playing the most. I do things pretty methodically, and I don't ever just stick to one class. I'm in this for the long haul, baby! I go get geeked out and see how to best maximize healing, (minimize) down time, dps, defense and procs.... And look what happens... They go and give these power levelers a free hand when I have been loyal since open beta... Makes me want to say, "Go "F" yourselves, wheres my kudos for hangin in there through all the bugs, graphics problems, and n00b nonsense?" I guess my loyalty isn't worth anything. I was going to hold out for the 1.3 additions, but after I heard about the lv50 stuff... I just dont know now. What BioWare should have done was give everyone who has an active subscription from day one and who didn't cancel for more than 30-days a free ride. I guess it's too much to ask for a bit of appretiation for the people who helped this game pwn the other mmorpgs into dust... <.< PS: Don't you think it is ironic that BioWare cuts out the very people that will benefit from this patch the most? ALTOHOLICS! Wow, I mean, make a patch that caters to people creating alts that are related to eachother, and give them the shaft... Nice Job guys!
  21. Maintanance is a good thing. It means you're getting your money's worth. For the record: In the history of every mmorpg I have ever played, and I have played many, this game is very stable, if not THE most stable mmorpg I have played post release. Don't take my word for it, though. Ask the myriad of other gamers who both hate and love this game. They will tell you with certainty that it is a smoother experience than what they are normally used to from mmorpg's this close to post release. Bioware does a really good job with stability issues, and part of that is because they run good maintanance. I'm sure you hear it all the time, but give it time.
  22. It's bad when a team of developers lead you on to believe that a game is one way, and then change it mid-way through its lifecycle to be something entirely different. Think about all the promises made before Fable came out. What a let down! Well, SWG is right up there with missed oportunities and dissapointments. I personally played the game at release, and then again after the enhancment came out. The shooter type combat made me so furious as a player that had become accustomed to true mmorpg style gameplay. If someone makes a game mmorpg, fine. If someone makes a shooter type MMO, that's fine too; I might even play that... However, when developers make a game and put it out there for everyone to play, they make a certain promise to players that the game's core mechanics are there to stay. It's an unwritten rule -- right up there with art direction and integrity. What Sony did to SWG was a no-no in the gaming world. You don't change something that much once its out there. Sure, you change subtle things like talent specs and general additions to mechanics to rebalance things or you might take a tiny bit away, but the overall experience must remain the same. A game should still play the same way. Essentially, Sony changed the gameplay in such a way as to pull away from their target audience; they sold people who like roleplaying games one game, and then they took it away to cater to a larger target audience, which were people who generally play shooters.
  23. You can't truly guage someone in a battle when his emotions are compromised. Vader didn't want to kill his son, and he didn't want to kill his master either... In the end, did he not defeat the most powerful sith to ever live? And all he needed was compassion to motivate him to his true potential. Just out of curiousity... Did Revan ever deflect or absorb blaster bolts with his hands? I doubt Vader ever needed a light saber... Just putting that out there.
  24. I've been away from the game for the past two months, and a major reason for that is I want to play group content. My experience thus far has seen trouble finding like minded individuals that enjoy PvE content. More and more, I find I am being asked to PvP rather than do flashpoints or any of the other group content. PvP is not the game I want to play, and since there is A: no LFG channel to avoid being drowned out by spammers in general, and B: there is no fallback plan like PvE queuing, I'm stuck. I am totally bored with soloing. Every time I get a flashpoint mission, I get discouraged because when I do manage to get into a flashpoint either some noob needs on gear he doesn't need or the party falls apart because someone's internet connection fails, and we have to wait around for nearly half an hour to find a replacement. No more. I promised myself I would not do group content until BioWare fixes this problem with a creative way to search for party globally or introduces a party queue for flashpoints. Since then, I have played less and less until finally, I stopped playing altogether. It's sad--one of my all time favorite games is not being played because every time I look at the start up icon I remember the pains it takes to create and maintain a functioning party for the things I enjoy most. The bottom line is we need to have choices. This isn't a bid for instant gratificationists. This is a bid for people who work, have school, or other priorities than games; moreover, this is a bid for people who know that time is precious to them. Four hours looking for a group that ultimately never sees its mission through is a massive waste of time. The human factor of this is we get discouraged. Bioware says that they will lose players if they instate a cross-server dungeon finder. I say they are losing a bigger bulk of their player base by forcing us to fit in with the croud. Social politics is not what I signed up for. I am not a very social person when I am in game. I have good reasons. I am a mature and functioning adult who values his time spent wherever he is. When I am playing games, I do not like the experience to stop because someone feels I should be chatty Cathy, make friends, and use them to work at group content. I am sorry if this offends you, but I do not play games to cultivate social relationships--if I wanted to do that, I would log off, shut my PC down, and call up one of my real-life friends. This game is just something to pass the offhours between school and work. It's nothing more and nothing less. Anything else isn't fun for me. These are some last words for those who don't understand. Choice is all we are asking for; we are asking for the choice to do what we find fun in the way we like to acheive it. No one is forcing you to use a queue to find a party, but we are asking for the choice. This choice in no way conflicts with the interests or design concepts BioWare has in mind. This does not change the game in any way other than the method to accomplish simple tasks. Instance queues streamline the way players find party members. Cross-sever or not, this method is an invaluable tool for those of us wishing to make the most of our time.
  25. You totally missunderstand the purpose. I don't want to spam through dungeons at incredible paces. I love taking my time in dungeons. However, I don't like waiting to get into one.
