  1. Beat him on my second attempt at level 24 (I believe, it was a while ago). I didn't really do anything special that I hadn't done with other bosses. Basically all of the humanoid story bosses are not immune to stuns/disables, which makes them a cakewalk. At this point (mid 30's), I just use the same strategy on all of them. Send Kira in alone until she's about 20% HP, jump in and start hitting until I get aggro, or taunt if she is near death. Then I chain my stuns, basically avoiding all damage for a good period of time, usually Force Stasis, then Hilt Strike, then Force Push/Leap. By this time the thing is well on its way to death, and if it really wants to do a ton of damage to me I still have Saber Ward and Warding Call in case of emergency. Throughout the fight, use kick to interrupt cast bar skills as needed.
  2. This is almost exactly what I've done. I've tried other specs briefly for PvP analysis, but I'm always back to defense, and using Kira. Haven't got to Doc yet, but I haven't needed him. I absolutely love my spec/setup for PvE right now (and PvP too, incidentally). Having a blast with it. I'll certainly give Doc a chance when I get him, or if I'm having a particularly tough time killing something, but I'd rather keep things working the way they are rather than slow down all of my fights just to have some healing. OP: I don't know what companion you've been using or what level you are, but I keep Kira geared quite well and it makes a big difference. I don't mean those junk green quest items for companions either. Her gear is at the same level as my own. She can be quite beastly. I can't remember the last time I had trouble in a PvE encounter that I was properly levelled for. I usually walk out of 4-5 regular mobs without much of a scratch. 20% down at the most, I'd say.
  3. Have you tried it? I haven't specced it yet but will be with my next 2 points. My advice is to not listen to what other people say and try it out yourself. If you feel like it makes you more effective and is worth the points, then keep it. I've used plenty of things in MMO's for years that the majority thought were crap and found that I liked them or that they were actually useful. Or maybe it does suck. Who knows. I would definitely recommend making your own judgment.
  4. I seem to have been a victim of this bug as well. I don't remember picking the dark side flirt option during The Defector, but I suppose I did. Problem is, I have no way of checking my decision, and since I have about ~800 dark side points, it could be part of that. The lack of an ETA is particularly frustrating. I understand that it may be an obscure bug and difficult to track down, but the fact that they are aware of it and have already fixed it for new players is very disappointing. I was really looking forward to this fix today, thinking it would resolve the main issue - the main issue being that a bunch of us are already bugged. I didn't even find out about this until yesterday when I was doing some research into why I hadn't gotten any dialogue quests with Kira when I did on all of my other characters. Are we supposed to wait an entire patch cycle for this to be actually fixed now? Because so far they haven't fixed anything for the players who experienced the bug before it was widely known. Gah... I shouldn't be so mad about this, but I have a lousy feeling that it's gonna be another month before this is actually addressed.
  5. Is that the ship steward for Empire? If he's anything like C2-N2, I understand. I swear that droid has added so much padding to my ship's seats I'm gonna be hitting my head on the cockpit ceiling soon.
  6. I haven't been dedicated to an MMO in a while. The last few I tried (WAR, Rift, FF14 - lmao) have just not held my interest. I thought I was just getting old and that my MMO days were over. Not so! This game is taking over my life and I don't care. I can't stop playing or reading about it. I haven't been this addicted to an MMO in a long, long time - probably not since pre-expansion WOW or EQ1. It's not just me either. All of my friends that I used to play MMOs with and who haven't touched one in a while are stuck on SWTOR as well. I see all of these nitpicky complaints and just think "Hey, if you have nothing better to do than come up with lists of problems, then go play something else, this is not your game." I have nothing to complain about. Maybe there are some things wrong with the game, but you know what? I don't notice them, because my overall experience is phenomenal and I'm having a great time.
  7. Oh let me tell you, it's been driving me nuts that my male Jedi has shelf butt with half of the items I equip. I really wish they would change this.
  8. Do you have an earpiece / implants / relics? The extra endurance from those 5 items makes a huge difference. If you haven't found any, try looking on the auction house (global market kiosk, whatever they call it) and buy a few cheap ones for the stat boosts. I didn't spend much money on mine.
  9. T7 = Adorable. Seriously, as soon as I got this thing in beta I knew I had to play a Knight again just for him. His dialogue is just awesome. I particularly enjoy when he helps you kill something and boasts "T7 = Hero!". Everything he says is gold. I love my little robot friend.
  10. If you're having trouble with any encounter that you should be able to beat (read: class story bosses that should be solo-able), here are a few tips that have worked well for me so far. 1. Use medpacs and stims. If a fight is close, a medpac saves your life and you win. A stim to boost your health or damage is not insignificant. 2. Let your companion take a good chunk of damage before jumping in. Have your companion attack first and do as much damage as possible, then when they're a bit low on health, jump in, taunt and grab aggro. You'll basically have a head start on the fight. It also allows them to "suck up" the initial hit or two of the boss' specials such as knockbacks or stuns. 3. Use your defensive skills. Use Saber Ward, use Call on the Force, then use Saber Ward again. No reason not to blow cooldowns every time they're up when you're trying to beat a tough story boss. 4. Interrupt! Save your force kick, force stasis, force push, anything that stuns or stops casting (assuming the target is not immune to the particular skill). If the boss has a big skill with a cast time, watch for that cast bar and break it as much as possible. 5. Use different companions (if available). Honestly I've had the easiest time just using my highest DPS companions since I'm pure defense spec and I can take the hits / need the extra damage, but every spec is going to require some different help depending on the encounter. 6. If all else fails... level up. Seriously, even 1 more level can sometimes make the difference. I've gotten ahead of myself on class quests a few times now. I beat this boss on my second attempt at level 24. I didn't use any of the "stand in front of the box" tricks or anything, just straight up fighting. When you get knocked back, leap immediately back in as soon as you can. I'm not saying this to imply that you suck if you can't do it, just to illustrate that it's doable. I also realize that some of these are very obvious tips, but not everybody uses them. I hope it helps somebody.

    Mvp

All I know is that once you vote someone for MVP, all of the votes for every player show up in the MVP votes column, so you can see if you've received any. I've been told that they increase your exp/credit/valor yield, but I have no idea if that's true or when/how you actually receive the bonuses. I've received a lot of MVP votes, and won several, but I can't tell what it's doing for me if anything. I'd love to know how this works. Also, do you have to receive the most MVP votes to receive a bonus, or does everyone who receives them get a per-vote bonus?
  12. I don't have any scientific data, but I feel like republic on my server is losing about 60-70% of the warzones. It's definitely less than 50/50. The first day I tried PvP I think I went 0-10 or so before I stopped. Granted I was only level 15 or so at the time so I probably wasn't helping much, but I was queueing solo and doubt is was my fault alone. Empire does seem to have a more prominent PvP presence on our server, and significantly better organization (more premades, maybe?) in completing warzone objectives.
  13. I was a bit disappointed to see that the security key app isn't available for any device other than the iPhone. Any plans to release this for Android, or heck, even Windows Phone or Blackberry? Given that Android has something like 53% market share against Apple's 29% in the US (and I believe a larger separation worldwide), why make the choice to only release this app on the iPhone?
